1 Jesus went down to the lake again and started to teach the people. There were so many people standing there, that Jesus got into a boat and his friends pushed it away from the land. From there, the people standing next to the water could see him and hear him.
1 E outra vez começou a ensinar junto do mar, e ajuntou-se a ele grande multidão, de sorte que ele entrou e assentou-se num barco, sobre o mar; e toda a multidão estava em terra junto do mar.
2 Jesus used picture stories that have special meanings inside them to teach the people about God. Jesus sat on a boat while he was teaching people|src="CN01705B teaching from boat.TIF" size="col" copy="David Cook" ref="4:2"
2 E ensinava-lhes muitas coisas por parábolas, e lhes dizia na sua doutrina:
3 He said, “Listen, a man wanted to grow some food plants.
3 Ouvi: Eis que saiu o semeador a semear.
4 So he got the paddock ready and then he spread the seeds out all over the ground.
4 E aconteceu que semeando ele, uma parte da semente caiu junto do caminho, e vieram as aves do céu, e a comeram;
5 — ausente —
5 E outra caiu sobre pedregais, onde não havia muita terra, e nasceu logo, porque não tinha terra profunda;
6 — ausente —
6 Mas, saindo o sol, queimou-se; e, porque não tinha raiz, secou-se.
7 Another lot of seeds fell into prickle grass growing next to the paddock. Those little plants tried to grow but the prickle grass blocked them so that they could not grow any new seeds.
7 E outra caiu entre espinhos e, crescendo os espinhos, a sufocaram e não deu fruto.
8 But some of the seeds fell onto the really good ground, and those seeds grew and became strong plants. At the end of the growing time, the man went to the paddock to pick all the new seeds from the plants. 8 E outra caiu em boa terra e deu fruto, que vingou e cresceu; e um produziu trinta, outro sessenta, e outro cem.
9 Then Jesus said to the people, “You all have ears, so listen to what I say.”
9 E disse-lhes: Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça.
10 Later on, Jesus was sitting down with his 12 close followers, and there were other people sitting with them. His close followers said to Jesus, “We don't understand the stories that you tell us. Can you tell us what they mean?”
10 E, quando se achou só, osque estavam junto dele com os doze interrogaram-no acerca da parábola.
11 Jesus said, “These stories have a secret meaning. The stories are all about how God will be the king over everything in a new way. You men follow me, so I will tell you what those stories mean. People that are not in God's family will hear the stories but they will not understand them.
11 E ele disse-lhes: A vós vos é dado saber os mistérios do reino de Deus, mas aos que estão de fora todas estas coisas se dizem por parábolas,
12 That way, what God told Isaiah to say a long time ago will come true.”
12 Para que, vendo, vejam, e não percebam; e, ouvindo, ouçam, e não entendam; para que não se convertam, e lhes sejam perdoados os pecados.
13 Jesus said to them, “Why can't you understand the story I just told you? If you can't understand this easy story, you will not understand the other stories that I am going to tell you.
13 E disse-lhes: Não percebeis esta parábola? Como, pois, entendereis todas as parábolas?
14 In my story, the man that spread the seeds out all over the ground is like a person that is telling people about God.
14 O que semeia, semeia a palavra;
15 At the start of my story, the seeds are a picture for God's word. The road is a picture of some people and the birds are a picture of the Devil. And so when the seeds fell onto the road, the birds came and took the seeds away. That means God's word is given out to people, but the Devil comes along and takes those words away so that people cannot take them deep into their lives.
15 E, os que estão junto do caminho são aqueles em quem a palavra é semeada; mas, tendo-a eles ouvido, vem logo Satanás e tira a palavra que foi semeada nos seus corações.

16 E da mesma forma os que recebem a semente sobre pedregais; os quais, ouvindo a palavra, logo com prazer a recebem;
17 — ausente —
17 Mas não têm raiz em si mesmos, antes são temporãos; depois, sobrevindo tribulação ou perseguição, por causa da palavra, logo se escandalizam.
18 — ausente —
18 E outros são os que recebem a semente entre espinhos, os quais ouvem a palavra;
19 — ausente —
19 Mas os cuidados deste mundo, e os enganos das riquezas e as ambições de outras coisas, entrando, sufocam a palavra, e fica infrutífera.
20 In the last part of my story, the seeds that fell onto good ground, grew into strong plants with lots of new seeds. This is a picture of people that are like that good ground. They are ready to listen to God's word, and they do what it says. They learn more and more of God's story and grow strong for him.”
20 E estes são os que foram semeados em boa terra, os que ouvem a palavra e a recebem, e dão fruto, um trinta, e outro sessenta, e outro cem.
21 Then Jesus said, “Do you reckon someone might light a candle, and then put a billycan over it? Would they put the candle under their bunk bed? No! People always put candles up high, so that everyone can see clearly.Light makes everything clear|src="tlc-034 light.tif" size="col" copy="Global Recordings Network ( Australia)" ref="4:20"
21 E disse-lhes: Vem porventura a candeia para se meter debaixo do alqueire, ou debaixo da cama? não vem antes para se colocar no velador?
22 There are a lot of things that are hidden and there are things that God has not told us yet. God's light will show all the hidden things and God will tell us what he wants us to know at the right time.
22 Porque nada há encoberto que não haja de ser manifesto; e nada se faz para ficar oculto, mas para ser descoberto.
23 You all have ears, so listen to what I say.”
23 Se alguém tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça.
24 — ausente —
24 E disse-lhes: Atendei ao que ides ouvir. Com a medida com que medirdes vos medirão a vós, e ser-vos-á ainda acrescentada a vós que ouvis.
25 — ausente —
25 Porque ao que tem, ser-lhe-á dado; e, ao que não tem, até o que tem lhe será tirado.
26 — ausente —
26 E dizia: O reino de Deus é assim como se um homem lançasse semente à terra.
27 — ausente —
27 E dormisse, e se levantasse de noite ou de dia, e a semente brotasse e crescesse, não sabendo ele como.
28 — ausente —
28 Porque a terra por si mesma frutifica, primeiro a erva, depois a espiga, por último o grão cheio na espiga.
29 — ausente —
29 E, quando já o fruto se mostra, mete-se-lhe logo a foice, porque está chegada a ceifa.
30 Then Jesus said, “I have been thinking about another story to help you understand how God's family is growing.
30 E dizia: A que assemelhare-mos o reino de Deus? ou com que parábola o representaremos?
31 — ausente —
31 É como um grão de mostarda, que, quando se semeia na terra, é a menor de todas as sementes que há na terra;
32 — ausente —
32 Mas, tendo sido semeado, cresce; e faz-se a maior de todas as hortaliças, e cria grandes ramos, de tal maneira que as aves do céu podem aninhar-se debaixo da sua sombra.
33 — ausente —
33 E com muitas parábolas tais lhes dirigia a palavra, segundo o que podiam compreender.
34 — ausente —
34 E sem parábolas nunca lhes falava; porém, tudo declarava em particular aos seus discípulos.
35 Later that day, as the sun started to go down, Jesus stopped teaching and asked his close followers to take him across the lake.
35 E, naquele dia, sendo já tarde, disse-lhes: Passemos para o outro lado.
36 They left all the other people behind on the land, and his followers took Jesus across the lake in their boat. But some of the other people got into their boats and followed them.
36 E eles, deixando a multidão, o levaram consigo, assim como estava, no barco; e havia também com ele outros barquinhos.
37 A little bit later, the wind started to get really strong, and it made the waves come up over the sides of the boat so that it was nearly full of water.
37 E levantou-se grande temporal de vento, e subiam as ondas por cima do barco, de maneira que já se enchia.
38 Jesus was sleeping in the back of the boat with his head on a pillow. His followers were so frightened they woke him up and said, “Teacher, don't you care that we are all going to die?”
38 E ele estava na popa, dormindo sobre uma almofada, e despertaram-no, dizendo-lhe: Mestre, não se te dá que pereçamos?
39 Jesus opened his eyes and then he got up. He growled at the wind, and said to the water, “Stop. Sit down and be quiet.” Straight away, the wind stopped and the sea went flat. And everything was quiet.
39 E ele, despertando, repreendeu o vento, e disse ao mar: Cala-te, aquieta-te. E o vento se aquietou, e houve grande bonança.
40 Then Jesus said to his followers, “Why are you so frightened? You really don't trust me, do you?”
40 E disse-lhes: Por que sois tão tímidos? Ainda não tendes fé?
41 But they were still frightened and they said to each other, “Who is this man? How come the wind and the water listen to him and do what he says?” Jesus made the wind stop and the sea water sit down flat|src="lll6-18 jesus calms storm.tif" size="col" copy="Global Recordings Network ( Australia)" ref="4:41"
41 E sentiram um grande temor, e diziam uns aos outros: Mas quem é este, que até o vento e o mar lhe obedecem?
