1 It was 2 years later that Pharaoh, the king of Egypt had a dream. In his dream he saw himself standing next to the Nile River.
1 Dois anos inteiros se passaram, e o faraó sonhou que estava em pé na margem do rio Nilo.
2 He saw 7 cows come up out of the river. They were fat and looked really good, and they started to eat the river grass next to the water.
2 Em seu sonho, viu sete vacas gordas e saudáveis saírem do rio e começarem a pastar no meio dos juncos.
3 Then Pharaoh saw 7 more cows come out of the river. These cows were ugly and skinny. They were standing next to the other fat cows on the side of the river.
3 Em seguida, viu outras sete vacas saírem do Nilo. Eram feias e magras e pararam junto das vacas gordas à beira do rio.
4 Then the 7 skinny, ugly cows ate up the 7 good looking fat cows. And the king woke up. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt had a dream|src="lll2-09 Pharaoh's dream cows.tif" size="col" copy="Global Recordings Network" ref="41:4"
4 Então as vacas feias e magras comeram as sete vacas gordas e saudáveis. Nessa parte do sonho, o faraó acordou.
5 He went back to sleep again and had a second dream. This time he saw a long piece of grass, and it had 7 bunches of seeds on the top and they were fat and looked really good to eat.
5 Depois, voltou a dormir e teve outro sonho. Dessa vez, viu sete espigas de trigo, cheias e boas, que cresciam em um só talo.
6 Then he saw another long piece of grass, but the 7 bunches of seeds on top of this grass looked thin and weak. They looked like they were burnt by the hot east wind.
6 Em seguida, apareceram mais sete espigas, mas elas eram murchas e ressequidas pelo vento do leste.
7 Then the weak thin bunches of seeds, ate the good looking fat seeds. When Pharaoh woke up he knew it was a dream.
7 Então as espigas miúdas engoliram as sete espigas cheias e bem formadas. O faraó acordou novamente e percebeu que era um sonho.
8 In the morning the king was upset. He was worried what the dreams were all about. And so he sent messengers all over Egypt to get all the clever men and men that could understand dreams to come to a meeting. He told them what he saw in his dreams, but none of them could tell him the meaning of those dreams.
8 Na manhã seguinte, perturbado com os sonhos, o faraó chamou todos os magos e os sábios do Egito. Contou-lhes os sonhos, mas ninguém conseguiu interpretá-los.
9 The man who gave the king his wine said, “O King, I have just remembered that I have broken a promise I made to someone.
9 Por fim, o chefe dos copeiros se pronunciou. “Hoje eu me lembrei do meu erro”, disse ao faraó.
10 You were angry with your baker and me 2 years ago and put us in jail.
10 “Algum tempo atrás, o senhor se irou com o chefe dos padeiros e comigo e mandou prender-nos no palácio do capitão da guarda.
11 One night, the baker and I both had dreams but our dreams were different. And we did not know the meaning of those dreams.
11 Certa noite, o chefe dos padeiros e eu tivemos, cada um, um sonho, e cada sonho tinha o seu significado.
12 But there was a young Hebrew man who worked for the boss of the jail. When we told him our dreams, he told us the meaning.
12 Estava conosco na prisão um rapaz hebreu que era escravo do capitão da guarda. Contamos a ele nossos sonhos, e ele explicou o que cada um significava.
13 And what he said came true. I got my job back and the baker was killed and his body put up on a tree.”
13 E tudo aconteceu exatamente como ele havia previsto. Fui restaurado ao meu cargo de chefe dos copeiros, e o chefe dos padeiros foi enforcado em público.”
14 When Pharaoh heard this, he sent someone to get Joseph. They took him out of the jail, and after he shaved his face and put on clean clothes, they took him to talk to the king.
14 Na mesma hora, o faraó mandou chamar José, e ele foi trazido depressa da prisão. Depois de barbear-se e trocar de roupa, apresentou-se ao faraó.
15 The king said to Joseph, “I had a dream, but no-one can tell me what it means. Someone said that you can do that.”
15 Disse o faraó a José: “Tive um sonho esta noite e ninguém aqui conseguiu me dizer o que ele significa. Soube, porém, que ao ouvir um sonho você é capaz de interpretá-lo”.
16 But Joseph said to the king, “I cannot tell people what their dreams mean, but God can help me do that.”
16 José respondeu: “Essa capacidade não está em minhas mãos, mas Deus pode revelar o significado ao faraó e acalmá-lo”.
17 So Pharaoh told Joseph what he saw in his dream.
17 Então o faraó contou o sonho a José: “Em meu sonho, eu estava em pé na margem do rio Nilo
18 I saw 7 cows come up out of the river. They were fat and looked really good. They started to eat the river grass next to the water.
18 e vi sete vacas gordas e saudáveis saírem do rio e começarem a pastar no meio dos juncos.
19 Then I saw 7 more cows come out of the river. These cows were ugly and skinny. I have never seen such thin and ugly cows in all of Egypt.
19 Em seguida, vi saírem do rio sete vacas feias e magras que pareciam doentes. Nunca vi animais tão horríveis em toda a terra do Egito.
20 The skinny, ugly cows ate up the 7 good looking fat cows that came out of the river first.
20 Essas vacas feias e magras comeram as sete vacas gordas.
21 But then I saw that after the skinny cows ate the fat cows, they stayed skinny and ugly and no-one would know that they had eaten the other 7 cows. Then I woke up.
21 Contudo, não parecia que haviam acabado de comer as outras vacas, pois continuavam tão magras e feias quanto antes. Então, acordei.
22 I went to sleep again and had a second dream, but this time I saw a long piece of grass. It had 7 bunches of seeds on the top and they were fat and looked really good.
22 “Em meu sonho, também vi sete espigas de trigo, cheias e boas, que cresciam em um só talo.
23 Then I saw another long piece of grass, but the 7 bunches of seeds on top looked thin and weak. They looked like they were burnt by the hot east wind.
23 Em seguida, apareceram outras sete espigas, mas elas eram murchas, miúdas e ressequidas pelo vento do leste.
24 Then the weak, thin bunches of seeds ate up the 7 good looking seeds. And I woke up.
24 As espigas miúdas engoliram as sete espigas saudáveis. Contei os sonhos aos magos, mas ninguém foi capaz de dizer o que significam”.
25 Joseph said to Pharaoh, the king, “Both your dreams mean the same thing, and God is telling you what he is going to do.
25 José respondeu: “Os dois sonhos do faraó significam a mesma coisa. Deus está dizendo ao faraó de antemão o que ele vai fazer.
26 The 7 good looking cows and the 7 good bunches of seeds are pictures of the same thing. They are pictures of 7 good years that are coming.
26 As sete vacas saudáveis e as sete espigas de trigo cheias representam sete anos de prosperidade.
27 The 7 skinny ugly cows and the 7 thin weak bunches of seeds that look like the hot east wind has burnt them, are pictures of the same thing. They are pictures of 7 bad years that will come after the 7 good years.
27 As sete vacas feias e magras e as sete espigas miúdas e ressequidas pelo vento do leste representam sete anos de fome.
28 God is telling you what he is going to do, and it will happen just like I said.
28 “Acontecerá exatamente como eu descrevi, pois Deus revelou ao faraó de antemão o que ele vai fazer.
29 You and all the people in Egypt are going to have 7 good years. All your animals will get fat and all your food plants will grow a lot of seeds. Everyone in Egypt will have a lot to eat.
29 Os próximos sete anos serão um período de grande prosperidade em toda a terra do Egito.
30 When the 7 good years are over there will be 7 bad years. People will forget all about the 7 good years when everyone had a lot to eat. It will be like the bad years ate all the good years. Then nothing will grow in the whole country.
30 Depois, haverá sete anos de fome tão grande que toda essa prosperidade será esquecida no Egito, pois a fome destruirá a terra.
31 Yes, the 7 bad years will be so hard for everyone, that they will forget the good years.
31 A escassez de alimento será tão terrível que apagará até a lembrança dos anos de fartura.
32 God gave you those 2 dreams to let you know what he is going to do. And he will make it happen soon.
32 Quanto ao fato de terem sido dois sonhos parecidos, significa que esses acontecimentos foram decretados por Deus, e ele os fará ocorrer em breve.
33 I have told you God's message and so it would be good for you to find a man who knows what to do. You should make that man the boss over the whole country of Egypt.
33 “Portanto, o faraó deve encontrar um homem inteligente e sábio e encarregá-lo de administrar o Egito.
34 And you Pharaoh, should pick leaders from every part of the country to help that man do his job.
34 O faraó também deve nomear supervisores sobre a terra, para que recolham um quinto de todas as colheitas durante os sete anos de fartura.
35 Then the leaders have to take those bags of seeds and put them into big government sheds in every town. And put soldiers around those sheds.
35 Encarregue-os de juntar todo o alimento produzido nos anos bons que virão e levá-lo para os armazéns do faraó. Mande-os estocar e guardar os cereais, para que haja mantimento nas cidades.
36 This food must be kept safe until the 7 bad years come. That way, when the country does not grow any food, your people will not get too hungry and die.”
36 Desse modo, quando os sete anos de fome vierem sobre a terra do Egito, haverá comida suficiente. Assim, a fome não destruirá a terra”.
37 Pharaoh and all the men who worked for him had a meeting and they all liked Joseph's plan.
37 O faraó e seus oficiais gostaram das sugestões de José.
38 Pharaoh said to them, “I do not think we can find a better man than Joseph to do that job. I can see that God's spirit has told him what to do.”
38 Por isso, o faraó perguntou aos oficiais: “Será que encontraremos alguém como este homem? Sem dúvida, há nele o espírito de Deus!”.
39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I can see that God has told you what to do. God has made you understand the problem. No-one else can do the job better than you can.
39 Então o faraó disse a José: “Uma vez que Deus lhe revelou o significado dos sonhos, é evidente que não há ninguém tão inteligente ou sábio quanto você.
40 I am putting you in charge of my house and my government. Everyone in all of Egypt has to do what you tell them. But remember, I am still the king. I am still your boss.”
40 Ficará encarregado de minha corte, e todo o meu povo obedecerá às suas ordens. Apenas eu, que ocupo o trono, terei uma posição superior à sua”.
41 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Joseph. You are now the boss over the whole country of Egypt.”
41 O faraó acrescentou: “Eu o coloco oficialmente no comando de toda a terra do Egito”.
42 Pharaoh had a ring that had special marks on it. He used this ring to put his special mark on papers to prove that he had written them. Pharaoh took that ring off his finger and put it on Joseph's finger to show that Joseph was working for him. And he gave Joseph really nice clothes to wear and put a gold chain around his neck.
42 Então o faraó tirou do dedo o seu anel com o selo real e o pôs no dedo de José. Mandou vesti-lo com roupas de linho fino e pôs uma corrente de ouro em seu pescoço.
43 Pharaoh gave Joseph a chariot to ride in. A chariot is a war wagon pulled by horses. The king did this to show that Joseph was the second boss over Egypt. And from that time, everywhere Joseph went in his chariot, soldiers walked in front of him, shouting out to the people in the street, “Move off the road, and bow down to Joseph.” Joseph was the second boss over all Egypt|src="CO00756B.TIF" size="col" copy="David Cook" ref="41:43"
43 Também o fez andar na carruagem reservada para quem era o segundo no poder, e, por onde José passava, gritava-se a ordem: “Ajoelhem-se!”. Assim, o faraó colocou José no comando de todo o Egito
44 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, I am the king, but before anyone in Egypt does anything, they have to ask you first.”
44 e lhe disse: “Eu sou o faraó, mas ninguém levantará a mão ou o pé em toda a terra do Egito sem a sua permissão”.
45 And Pharaoh gave Joseph another name. He named him Zafen-ath-Pan-ay-ah and gave him a wife named As-en-ath. Her father was named Potifera, who was an Egyptian ceremony man from a town called On.
45 O faraó deu a José um nome egípcio: Zafenate-Paneia. Também lhe deu uma mulher, que se chamava Azenate. Ela era filha de Potífera, sacerdote de Om. Assim, José recebeu autoridade sobre todo o Egito.
46 Joseph was 30 years old when he started to work for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. He did not stay in one place but went everywhere in Egypt to see that people were doing the right thing.
46 Tinha 30 anos quando começou a servir na corte do faraó, o rei do Egito. Depois de sair da presença do faraó, José foi inspecionar toda a terra do Egito.
47 In the 7 good years, the whole country grew a lot of food.
47 Como previsto, durante sete anos a terra produziu fartas colheitas.
48 Every time food was grown, the farmers had to give some of their bags of seeds to the men that worked for Joseph. The workers took the bags of seeds and put them into the government sheds to keep them safe.
48 Ao longo desse tempo, José juntou todas as colheitas do Egito e armazenou nas cidades os cereais produzidos nos campos ao redor.
49 The workers stored so many bags of seeds they stopped counting them. There were just too many.
49 Armazenou uma quantidade imensa de cereais, como a areia do mar. Por fim, parou de manter registros, pois havia demais para medir.
50 Before the bad years came, As-en-ath, the daughter of Potifera, the ceremony man in On, gave Joseph 2 sons.
50 Durante esse tempo, antes do primeiro ano de fome, José e sua mulher, Azenate, filha de Potífera, sacerdote de Om, tiveram dois filhos.
51 Joseph named the first son Manasseh and said, “God has made me forget all my troubles, and I have even forgotten that I miss my family. And that is why l have called him that name.”
51 José chamou o filho mais velho de Manassés, pois disse: “Deus me fez esquecer todas as minhas dificuldades e toda a família de meu pai”.
52 And he named his second son, Efraim and said, “I have had a hard time in this country, but God has been good to me and given me children.”
52 José chamou o segundo filho de Efraim, pois disse: “Deus me fez prosperar na terra da minha aflição”.

53 Por fim, terminaram os sete anos de colheitas fartas em toda a terra do Egito,
54 — ausente —
54 e começaram os sete anos de fome, como José havia previsto. A fome também afetou as regiões vizinhas, mas havia alimento de sobra em todo o Egito.
55 Later on, the people in Egypt had nothing to eat and so they asked Pharaoh for food. But Pharaoh said, “Go and see Joseph. He will tell you what to do.”
55 Depois de algum tempo, porém, a fome também se espalhou pelo Egito. Quando o povo clamou ao faraó para que lhe desse alimento, ele respondeu a todos os egípcios: “Dirijam-se a José e sigam as instruções dele”.
56 When all the Egyptians were hungry and the bad years got worse, Joseph opened the government sheds and sold the food to the Egyptians.
56 Quando faltou alimento em toda parte, José mandou abrir os armazéns e vendeu cereais aos egípcios, pois a fome era terrível em toda a terra do Egito.
57 All the countries around Egypt were having a hard time too, and when they heard that Egypt had food, they went to Joseph to buy seeds.
57 Gente de todos os lugares ia ao Egito comprar cereais de José, pois a fome era terrível no mundo inteiro.
