1 Later on, Abraham moved his camp south to the dry country called The Negev and camped between the 2 towns called Kadesh and Shur in a place called Gerar.
1 E Abraão viajou dali para a terra do sul, e habitou entre Cades e Sur, e peregrinou em Gerar.
2 Abimelek, the king of Gerar heard about Sarah, so he sent someone to get her. He wanted Sarah to be his wife. And it was there that Abraham again said, “Sarah is my sister.”
2 E Abraão disse de Sara, sua esposa: Ela é minha irmã. E Abimeleque, rei de Gerar, enviou e tomou Sara.
3 God was not happy with Abimelek's plan. And so one night God spoke to Abimelek in a dream and said, “You are going to die. You have taken Sarah to be your wife. She is already married to Abraham.”
3 Mas Deus veio a Abimeleque em um sonho à noite, e lhe disse: Eis que és nada mais que um homem morto, pela mulher que tomaste, pois ela é a mulher de um homem.
4 — ausente —
4 Mas Abimeleque não havia se aproximado dela. E ele disse: Senhor, tu matarás também uma nação justa?
5 — ausente —
5 Não me disse ele: Ela é minha irmã? E ela também disse: Ele é meu irmão. Na integridade de meu coração e na inocência das minhas mãos eu fiz isso.
6 God answered him, “Yes I know that you did nothing wrong. You did not know that Sarah was a married woman. That is why I stopped you from doing the wrong thing with her.
6 E Deus lhe disse em um sonho: Sim, eu sei que o fizeste na integridade de teu coração; pois também eu te impedi de pecar contra mim; por isso não te permiti tocá-la.
7 Give Sarah back to Abraham. He is my special man and he will pray for you so that you do not die. But I tell you, if you do not give her back to Abraham, I will kill you and everyone who lives with you.”
7 Agora, portanto, restitui ao homem sua mulher, pois ele é um profeta, e ele orará por ti, e tu viverás; e se tu não a restituíres, sabe que certamente morrerás, tu e todos os que são teus.
8 So early the next day, Abimelek called a meeting for all his important workers. He told them everything that God had said and they were all very frightened.
8 Por isso, Abimeleque levantou-se cedo de manhã, e chamou todos os seus servos, e contou todas estas coisas em seus ouvidos. E os homens temeram muito.
9 Then Abimelek sent someone to get Abraham to come to the meeting. Abimelek said to Abraham, “What have you done! And what have I done to you so that you pay us back with this trouble? You have done the wrong thing to me and my people.
9 Então Abimeleque chamou Abraão, e lhe disse: O que nos fizeste? E em que eu te ofendi, para que trouxesses sobre mim e sobre meu reino um grande pecado? Tu fizeste-me coisas que não deviam ser feitas.
10 What were you thinking? Why did you tell everyone that Sarah was your sister?”
10 E Abimeleque disse a Abraão: O que tu viste para fazeres tal coisa?
11 Then Abraham answered and said, “I didn't think anyone here respected God, and I was frightened that you would kill me so that you could have Sarah as your wife.
11 E Abraão disse: Porque pensei: Certamente o temor de Deus não está neste lugar, e eles me matarão por causa de minha mulher.
12 But it is true. Sarah is my wife and she is my sister. We have the same father but different mothers. In our culture, we are allowed to marry our half-sisters and so that is what I did.
12 E, na verdade, ela é minha irmã; ela é a filha de meu pai, mas não a filha de minha mãe; e ela se tornou minha mulher.
13 When God told me to leave my father's country, we moved from place to place. I was frightened for myself and so I said to her, ‘If you love me you have to tell everyone that you are my sister. Then I will be safe.’”
13 E aconteceu que, quando Deus me fez peregrinar desde a casa de meu pai, eu disse a ela: Esta é a bondade que tu me mostrarás: em todo lugar aonde chegarmos, dirás de mim: Ele é meu irmão.
14 Abimelek did what God told him to do. He gave Sarah back to Abraham, and gave him some sheep and cattle as well as men and women workers as a present.
14 E Abimeleque tomou ovelhas, e bois, e servos, e servas, e os deu a Abraão, e lhe restituiu Sara, sua esposa.
15 Abimelek said to Abraham, “Friend, look at all my country. You can live anywhere you like.”
15 E Abimeleque disse: Eis que a minha terra está diante de ti; habita onde te agradar.
16 Then Abimelek said to Sarah, “I gave your brother Abraham a lot of silver in front of everyone, to show that you did nothing wrong.”
16 E a Sara ele disse: Eis que eu dei a teu irmão mil peças de prata. Servirão de honra para ti, para todos os que estão contigo e com todos os outros; assim ela foi repreendida.
17 — ausente —
17 Então Abraão orou a Deus; e Deus curou Abimeleque, e sua esposa, e suas servas; e elas geraram filhos.
18 — ausente —
18 Porque o SENHOR havia fechado totalmente os úteros da casa de Abimeleque por causa de Sara, esposa de Abraão.
