1 Finally then, brothers, we urge and exhort you in the Lord Jesus: as you received from us how you ought to behave and please God,do so even more
1 Finalmente, irmãos, pedimos e incentivamos em nome do Senhor Jesus que vivam para agradar a Deus, conforme lhes instruímos. Vocês já vivem desse modo, e os incentivamos a fazê-lo ainda mais,
2 —you know what instructions we gave you through Sovereign Jesus.
2 pois se lembram das instruções que lhes demos pela autoridade do Senhor Jesus.
3 Now this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you stay away from fornication;
3 A vontade de Deus é que vocês vivam em santidade; por isso, mantenham-se afastados de todo pecado sexual.
4 that each of you know how to gain possession of his own ‘vessel’ in sanctification and honor,
4 Cada um deve aprender a controlar o próprio corpo e assim viver em santidade e honra,
5 not in lustful passion (like the heathen who do not know God);
5 não em paixões sensuais, como os gentios que não conhecem a Deus.
6 that no one trespass and defraud his brother in this matter,because the Lord is the avenger of all such behavior,as, indeed, we have already told you and warned you.
6 Nesse assunto, não prejudiquem nem enganem um irmão, pois o Senhor punirá todas essas práticas, como já os advertimos solenemente.
7 Because God did not call us for uncleanness, but by holiness.
7 Pois Deus nos chamou para uma vida santa, e não impura.
8 So then, the rejecter is not rejecting man, but God, the very One who gave youHis Holy Spirit.
8 Portanto, quem se recusa a viver de acordo com essas regras não desobedece a ensinamentos humanos, mas rejeita a Deus, que lhes dá seu Espírito Santo.
9 Now about brotherly love you do not need to be written to, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,
9 Não precisamos lhes escrever sobre a importância do amor fraternal, pois o próprio Deus os ensinou a amarem uns aos outros.
10 because in fact you are doing so toward all the brothers throughout Macedonia.Still, we exhort you to do even more, brothers,
10 De fato, vocês já demonstram amor por todos os irmãos em toda a Macedônia. Ainda assim, irmãos, pedimos que os amem ainda mais.
11 to make it a point to be peaceable and to mind your own business, to work with your hands (as we instructed you),
11 Tenham como objetivo uma vida tranquila, ocupando-se com seus próprios assuntos e trabalhando com suas próprias mãos, conforme os instruímos anteriormente.
12 so that outsiders may be well impressed by your life style, and that you may have no lack.
12 Assim, os que são de fora respeitarão seu modo de viver, e vocês não terão de depender de outros.
13 Now then, brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who have ‘fallen asleep’,so that you do not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
13 Agora, irmãos, não queremos que ignorem o que acontecerá aos que já morreram, para que não se entristeçam como aqueles que não têm esperança.
14 Because since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, just so will God bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
14 Porque cremos que Jesus morreu e foi ressuscitado, também cremos que Deus trará de volta à vida, com Jesus, todos os que morreram.
15 For this we say to you by a word of the Lord,that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will absolutely not precede those who have fallen asleep;
15 Dizemos a vocês, pela palavra do Senhor: nós, os que ainda estivermos vivos quando o Senhor voltar, não iremos ao encontro dele antes daqueles que já morreram.
16 because the Lord Himself—with a commanding shout,with the archangel's voiceand with God's trumpet—will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first;
16 Pois o Senhor mesmo descerá do céu com um brado de comando, com a voz do arcanjo e com o toque da trombeta de Deus. Primeiro, os mortos em Cristo ressuscitarão.
17 then we who are still alive, who are left, will be snatched up together with them in clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In precisely this way we will always be with the Lord.
17 Depois, com eles, nós, os que ainda estivermos vivos, seremos arrebatados nas nuvens ao encontro do Senhor, nos ares. Então, estaremos com o Senhor para sempre.
18 So then, comfort one another with these words.
18 Portanto, animem uns aos outros com essas palavras.
