Juízes 3

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Now these are the nations|strong="H1471" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* left|strong="H3240", to prove|strong="H5254" Israel|strong="H3478" by them, even as many of Israel as had not known|strong="H3045" all the wars|strong="H4421" of Canaan|strong="H3667";

Only that|strong="H7535" the generations|strong="H1755" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" might know|strong="H3045", to teach|strong="H3925" them war|strong="H4421", at the least such as before|strong="H6440" knew|strong="H3045" nothing thereof;

Namely, five|strong="H2568" lords|strong="H5633" of the Philistines|strong="H6430", and all the Canaanites|strong="H3669", and the Sidonians|strong="H6722", and the Hivites|strong="H2340" that dwelt|strong="H3427" in mount|strong="H2022" Lebanon|strong="H3844", from mount|strong="H2022" Baal-hermon|strong="H1179" unto the entering in|strong="H0935" of Hamath|strong="H2574".

And they were to prove|strong="H5254" Israel|strong="H3478" by them, to know|strong="H3045" whether they would hearken|strong="H8085" unto the commandments|strong="H4687" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he commanded|strong="H6680" their fathers|strong="H0001" by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872".

And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" dwelt|strong="H3427" among|strong="H7130" the Canaanites|strong="H3669", Hittites|strong="H2850", and Amorites|strong="H0567", and Perizzites|strong="H6522", and Hivites|strong="H2340", and Jebusites|strong="H2983":

And they took|strong="H3947" their daughters|strong="H1323" to be their wives|strong="H0802", and gave|strong="H5414" their daughters|strong="H1323" to their sons|strong="H1121", and served|strong="H5647" their gods|strong="H0430".

And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and forgat|strong="H7911" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430", and served|strong="H5647" Baalim|strong="H1168" and the groves|strong="H0842".

Therefore the anger|strong="H0639" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was hot|strong="H2734" against Israel|strong="H3478", and he sold|strong="H4376" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of Chushan-rishathaim|strong="H3573" king|strong="H4428" of Mesopotamia|strong="H0763": and the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" served|strong="H5647" Chushan-rishathaim|strong="H3573" eight|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141".

And when the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" cried|strong="H2199" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* raised up|strong="H6965" a deliverer|strong="H3467" to the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", who delivered|strong="H3467" them, even Othniel|strong="H6274" the son|strong="H1121" of Kenaz|strong="H7073", Caleb’s|strong="H3612" younger|strong="H6996" brother|strong="H0251".

And the Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came upon him, and he judged|strong="H8199" Israel|strong="H3478", and went out|strong="H3318" to war|strong="H4421": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* delivered|strong="H5414" Chushan-rishathaim|strong="H3573" king|strong="H4428" of Mesopotamia|strong="H0763" into his hand|strong="H3027"; and his hand|strong="H3027" prevailed|strong="H5810" against Chushan-rishathaim|strong="H3573".

And the land|strong="H0776" had rest|strong="H8252" forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141". And Othniel|strong="H6274" the son|strong="H1121" of Kenaz|strong="H7073" died|strong="H4191".

And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" again|strong="H3254" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* strengthened|strong="H2388" Eglon|strong="H5700" the king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124" against Israel|strong="H3478", because they had done|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And he gathered|strong="H0622" unto him the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983" and Amalek|strong="H6002", and went|strong="H3212" and smote|strong="H5221" Israel|strong="H3478", and possessed|strong="H3423" the city|strong="H5892" of palm trees|strong="H8558".

So the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" served|strong="H5647" Eglon|strong="H5700" the king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124" eighteen|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141".

But when the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" cried|strong="H2199" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* raised them up|strong="H6965" a deliverer|strong="H3467", Ehud|strong="H0164" the son|strong="H1121" of Gera|strong="H1617", a Benjamite|strong="H1145", a man|strong="H0376" lefthanded|strong="H0334": and by him|strong="H3027" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" sent|strong="H7971" a present|strong="H4503" unto Eglon|strong="H5700" the king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124".

But Ehud|strong="H0164" made|strong="H6213" him a dagger|strong="H2719" which had two|strong="H8147" edges|strong="H6366", of a cubit|strong="H1574" length|strong="H0753"; and he did gird|strong="H2296" it under his raiment|strong="H4055" upon his right|strong="H3225" thigh|strong="H3409".

And he brought|strong="H7126" the present|strong="H4503" unto Eglon|strong="H5700" king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124": and Eglon|strong="H5700" was a very|strong="H3966" fat|strong="H1277" man|strong="H0376".

And when he had made an end|strong="H3615" to offer|strong="H7126" the present|strong="H4503", he sent away|strong="H7971" the people|strong="H5971" that bare|strong="H5375" the present|strong="H4503".

But he himself turned again|strong="H7725" from the quarries|strong="H6456" that were by Gilgal|strong="H1537", and said|strong="H0559", I have a secret|strong="H5643" errand|strong="H1697" unto thee, O king|strong="H4428": who said|strong="H0559", Keep silence|strong="H2013". And all that stood|strong="H5975" by him went out|strong="H3318" from him.

And Ehud|strong="H0164" came|strong="H0935" unto him; and he was sitting|strong="H3427" in a summer|strong="H4747" parlour|strong="H5944", which he had for himself alone. And Ehud|strong="H0164" said|strong="H0559", I have a message|strong="H1697" from God|strong="H0430" unto thee. And he arose|strong="H6965" out of his seat|strong="H3678".

And Ehud|strong="H0164" put forth|strong="H7971" his left|strong="H8040" hand|strong="H3027", and took|strong="H3947" the dagger|strong="H2719" from his right|strong="H3225" thigh|strong="H3409", and thrust|strong="H8628" it into his belly|strong="H0990":

And the haft|strong="H5325" also went in|strong="H0935" after|strong="H0310" the blade|strong="H3851"; and the fat|strong="H2459" closed|strong="H5462" upon|strong="H1157" the blade|strong="H3851", so that he could not draw|strong="H8025" the dagger|strong="H2719" out of his belly|strong="H0990"; and the dirt|strong="H6574" came out|strong="H3318".

Then Ehud|strong="H0164" went forth|strong="H3318" through the porch|strong="H4528", and shut|strong="H5462" the doors|strong="H1817" of the parlour|strong="H5944" upon him, and locked|strong="H5274" them.

When he was gone out|strong="H3318", his servants|strong="H5650" came|strong="H0935"; and when they saw|strong="H7200" that, behold, the doors|strong="H1817" of the parlour|strong="H5944" were locked|strong="H5274", they said|strong="H0559", Surely he covereth|strong="H5526" his feet|strong="H7272" in his summer|strong="H4747" chamber|strong="H2315".

And they tarried|strong="H2342" till they were ashamed|strong="H0954": and, behold, he opened|strong="H6605" not the doors|strong="H1817" of the parlour|strong="H5944"; therefore they took|strong="H3947" a key|strong="H4668", and opened|strong="H6605" them: and, behold, their lord|strong="H0113" was fallen down|strong="H5307" dead|strong="H4191" on the earth|strong="H0776".

And Ehud|strong="H0164" escaped|strong="H4422" while they tarried|strong="H4102", and passed beyond|strong="H5674" the quarries|strong="H6456", and escaped|strong="H4422" unto Seirath|strong="H8167".

And it came to pass, when he was come|strong="H0935", that he blew|strong="H8628" a trumpet|strong="H7782" in the mountain|strong="H2022" of Ephraim|strong="H0669", and the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" went down|strong="H3381" with him from the mount|strong="H2022", and he before|strong="H6440" them.

And he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Follow|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" me: for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath delivered|strong="H5414" your enemies|strong="H0341" the Moabites|strong="H4124" into your hand|strong="H3027". And they went down|strong="H3381" after|strong="H0310" him, and took|strong="H3920" the fords|strong="H4569" of Jordan|strong="H3383" toward Moab|strong="H4124", and suffered|strong="H5414" not a man|strong="H0376" to pass over|strong="H5674".

And they slew|strong="H5221" of Moab|strong="H4124" at that time|strong="H6256" about ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505" men|strong="H0376", all lusty|strong="H8082", and all men|strong="H0376" of valour|strong="H2428"; and there escaped|strong="H4422" not a man|strong="H0376".

So Moab|strong="H4124" was subdued|strong="H3665" that day|strong="H3117" under the hand|strong="H3027" of Israel|strong="H3478". And the land|strong="H0776" had rest|strong="H8252" fourscore|strong="H8084" years|strong="H8141".

And after|strong="H0310" him was Shamgar|strong="H8044" the son|strong="H1121" of Anath|strong="H6067", which slew|strong="H5221" of the Philistines|strong="H6430" six|strong="H8337" hundred|strong="H3967" men|strong="H0376" with an ox|strong="H1241" goad|strong="H4451": and he also delivered|strong="H3467" Israel|strong="H3478".
