Josué 24

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

And Joshua|strong="H3091" gathered|strong="H0622" all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478" to Shechem|strong="H7927", and called|strong="H7121" for the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478", and for their heads|strong="H7218", and for their judges|strong="H8199", and for their officers|strong="H7860"; and they presented|strong="H3320" themselves before|strong="H6440" God|strong="H0430".

And Joshua|strong="H3091" said|strong="H0559" unto all the people|strong="H5971", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", Your fathers|strong="H0001" dwelt|strong="H3427" on the other side|strong="H5676" of the flood|strong="H5104" in old time|strong="H5769", even Terah|strong="H8646", the father|strong="H0001" of Abraham|strong="H0085", and the father|strong="H0001" of Nachor|strong="H5152": and they served|strong="H5647" other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430".

And I took|strong="H3947" your father|strong="H0001" Abraham|strong="H0085" from the other side|strong="H5676" of the flood|strong="H5104", and led|strong="H3212" him throughout all the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", and multiplied|strong="H7235" his seed|strong="H2233", and gave|strong="H5414" him Isaac|strong="H3327".

And I gave|strong="H5414" unto Isaac|strong="H3327" Jacob|strong="H3290" and Esau|strong="H6215": and I gave|strong="H5414" unto Esau|strong="H6215" mount|strong="H2022" Seir|strong="H8165", to possess|strong="H3423" it; but Jacob|strong="H3290" and his children|strong="H1121" went down|strong="H3381" into Egypt|strong="H4714".

I sent|strong="H7971" Moses|strong="H4872" also and Aaron|strong="H0175", and I plagued|strong="H5062" Egypt|strong="H4714", according to that which|strong="H0834" I did|strong="H6213" among|strong="H7130" them: and afterward|strong="H0310" I brought you out|strong="H3318".

And I brought|strong="H3318" your fathers|strong="H0001" out of Egypt|strong="H4714": and ye came|strong="H0935" unto the sea|strong="H3220"; and the Egyptians|strong="H4714" pursued|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" your fathers|strong="H0001" with chariots|strong="H7393" and horsemen|strong="H6571" unto the Red|strong="H5488" sea|strong="H3220".

And when they cried|strong="H6817" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he put|strong="H7760" darkness|strong="H3990" between you and the Egyptians|strong="H4713", and brought|strong="H0935" the sea|strong="H3220" upon them, and covered|strong="H3680" them; and your eyes|strong="H5869" have seen|strong="H7200" what I have done|strong="H6213" in Egypt|strong="H4714": and ye dwelt|strong="H3427" in the wilderness|strong="H4057" a long|strong="H7227" season|strong="H3117".

And I brought|strong="H0935" you into the land|strong="H0776" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", which dwelt|strong="H3427" on the other side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383"; and they fought|strong="H3898" with you: and I gave|strong="H5414" them into your hand|strong="H3027", that ye might possess|strong="H3423" their land|strong="H0776"; and I destroyed|strong="H8045" them from before|strong="H6440" you.

Then Balak|strong="H1111" the son|strong="H1121" of Zippor|strong="H6834", king|strong="H4428" of Moab|strong="H4124", arose|strong="H6965" and warred|strong="H3898" against Israel|strong="H3478", and sent|strong="H7971" and called|strong="H7121" Balaam|strong="H1109" the son|strong="H1121" of Beor|strong="H1160" to curse|strong="H7043" you:

But I would|strong="H0014" not hearken|strong="H8085" unto Balaam|strong="H1109"; therefore he blessed|strong="H1288" you still|strong="H1288": so I delivered|strong="H5337" you out of his hand|strong="H3027".

And ye went over|strong="H5674" Jordan|strong="H3383", and came|strong="H0935" unto Jericho|strong="H3405": and the men|strong="H1167" of Jericho|strong="H3405" fought|strong="H3898" against you, the Amorites|strong="H0567", and the Perizzites|strong="H6522", and the Canaanites|strong="H3669", and the Hittites|strong="H2850", and the Girgashites|strong="H1622", the Hivites|strong="H2340", and the Jebusites|strong="H2983"; and I delivered|strong="H5414" them into your hand|strong="H3027".

And I sent|strong="H7971" the hornet|strong="H6880" before|strong="H6440" you, which drave them out|strong="H1644" from before|strong="H6440" you, even the two|strong="H8147" kings|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567"; but not with thy sword|strong="H2719", nor with thy bow|strong="H7198".

And I have given|strong="H5414" you a land|strong="H0776" for which ye did not labour|strong="H3021", and cities|strong="H5892" which ye built|strong="H1129" not, and ye dwell|strong="H3427" in them; of the vineyards|strong="H3754" and oliveyards|strong="H2132" which ye planted|strong="H5193" not do ye eat|strong="H0398".

Now therefore fear|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and serve|strong="H5647" him in sincerity|strong="H8549" and in truth|strong="H0571": and put away|strong="H5493" the gods|strong="H0430" which your fathers|strong="H0001" served|strong="H5647" on the other side|strong="H5676" of the flood|strong="H5104", and in Egypt|strong="H4714"; and serve|strong="H5647" ye the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And if it seem evil|strong="H7489" unto you|strong="H4310" to serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, choose|strong="H0977" you this day|strong="H3117" whom|strong="H5869" ye will serve|strong="H5647"; whether the gods|strong="H0430" which your fathers|strong="H0001" served|strong="H5647" that were on the other side|strong="H5676" of the flood|strong="H5104", or the gods|strong="H0430" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", in whose land|strong="H0776" ye dwell|strong="H3427": but as for me and my house|strong="H1004", we will serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And the people|strong="H5971" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", God forbid|strong="H2486" that we should forsake|strong="H5800" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to serve|strong="H5647" other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430";

For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", he it is that brought us up|strong="H5927" and our fathers|strong="H0001" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", from the house|strong="H1004" of bondage|strong="H5650", and which did|strong="H6213" those great|strong="H1419" signs|strong="H0226" in our sight|strong="H5869", and preserved|strong="H8104" us in all the way|strong="H1870" wherein we went|strong="H1980", and among all the people|strong="H5971" through|strong="H7130" whom we passed|strong="H5674":

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* drave out|strong="H1644" from before|strong="H6440" us all the people|strong="H5971", even the Amorites|strong="H0567" which dwelt|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776": therefore will we also serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; for he is our God|strong="H0430".

And Joshua|strong="H3091" said|strong="H0559" unto the people|strong="H5971", Ye cannot|strong="H3201" serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: for he is an holy|strong="H6918" God|strong="H0430"; he is a jealous|strong="H7072" God|strong="H0410"; he will not forgive|strong="H5375" your transgressions|strong="H6588" nor your sins|strong="H2403".

If ye forsake|strong="H5800" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and serve|strong="H5647" strange|strong="H5236" gods|strong="H0430", then he will turn|strong="H7725" and do you hurt|strong="H7489", and consume|strong="H3615" you, after|strong="H0310" that he hath done you good|strong="H3190".

And the people|strong="H5971" said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", Nay; but we will serve|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And Joshua|strong="H3091" said|strong="H0559" unto the people|strong="H5971", Ye are witnesses|strong="H5707" against yourselves that ye have chosen|strong="H0977" you the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to serve|strong="H5647" him. And they said|strong="H0559", We are witnesses|strong="H5707".

Now therefore put away|strong="H5493", said he, the strange|strong="H5236" gods|strong="H0430" which are among|strong="H7130" you, and incline|strong="H5186" your heart|strong="H3824" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And the people|strong="H5971" said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" will we serve|strong="H5647", and his voice|strong="H6963" will we obey|strong="H8085".

So Joshua|strong="H3091" made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with the people|strong="H5971" that day|strong="H3117", and set|strong="H7760" them a statute|strong="H2706" and an ordinance|strong="H4941" in Shechem|strong="H7927".

And Joshua|strong="H3091" wrote|strong="H3789" these words|strong="H1697" in the book|strong="H5612" of the law|strong="H8451" of God|strong="H0430", and took|strong="H3947" a great|strong="H1419" stone|strong="H0068", and set it up|strong="H6965" there under an oak|strong="H0427", that was by the sanctuary|strong="H4720" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And Joshua|strong="H3091" said|strong="H0559" unto all the people|strong="H5971", Behold, this stone|strong="H0068" shall be a witness|strong="H5713" unto us; for it hath heard|strong="H8085" all the words|strong="H0561" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* which he spake|strong="H1696" unto us: it shall be therefore a witness|strong="H5713" unto you, lest ye deny|strong="H3584" your God|strong="H0430".

So Joshua|strong="H3091" let the people|strong="H5971" depart|strong="H7971", every man|strong="H0376" unto his inheritance|strong="H5159".

And it came to pass after|strong="H0310" these things|strong="H1697", that Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Nun|strong="H5126", the servant|strong="H5650" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, died|strong="H4191", being an hundred|strong="H3967" and ten|strong="H6235" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121".

And they buried|strong="H6912" him in the border|strong="H1366" of his inheritance|strong="H5159" in Timnath-serah|strong="H8556", which is in mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669", on the north side|strong="H6828" of the hill|strong="H2022" of Gaash|strong="H1608".

And Israel|strong="H3478" served|strong="H5647" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* all the days|strong="H3117" of Joshua|strong="H3091", and all the days|strong="H3117" of the elders|strong="H2205" that overlived|strong="H0748" Joshua|strong="H3091", and which had known|strong="H3045" all the works|strong="H4639" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that he had done|strong="H6213" for Israel|strong="H3478".

And the bones|strong="H6106" of Joseph|strong="H3130", which the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" brought up|strong="H5927" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", buried|strong="H6912" they in Shechem|strong="H7927", in a parcel|strong="H2513" of ground|strong="H7704" which Jacob|strong="H3290" bought|strong="H7069" of the sons|strong="H1121" of Hamor|strong="H2544" the father|strong="H0001" of Shechem|strong="H7927" for an hundred|strong="H3967" pieces of silver|strong="H7192": and it became the inheritance|strong="H5159" of the children|strong="H1121" of Joseph|strong="H3130".

And Eleazar|strong="H0499" the son|strong="H1121" of Aaron|strong="H0175" died|strong="H4191"; and they buried|strong="H6912" him in a hill|strong="H1389" that pertained to Phinehas|strong="H6372" his son|strong="H1121", which was given|strong="H5414" him in mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669".
