Then Joshua|strong="H3091" called|strong="H7121" the Reubenites|strong="H7206", and the Gadites|strong="H1425", and the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H4294" of Manasseh|strong="H4519",
And said|strong="H0559" unto them, Ye have kept|strong="H8104" all that Moses|strong="H4872" the servant|strong="H5650" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* commanded|strong="H6680" you, and have obeyed|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963" in all that I commanded|strong="H6680" you:
Ye have not left|strong="H5800" your brethren|strong="H0251" these many|strong="H7227" days|strong="H3117" unto this day|strong="H3117", but have kept|strong="H8104" the charge|strong="H4931" of the commandment|strong="H4687" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430".
And now the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430" hath given rest|strong="H5117" unto your brethren|strong="H0251", as he promised|strong="H1696" them: therefore now return|strong="H6437" ye, and get|strong="H3212" you unto your tents|strong="H0168", and unto the land|strong="H0776" of your possession|strong="H0272", which Moses|strong="H4872" the servant|strong="H5650" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* gave|strong="H5414" you on the other side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383".
But take diligent|strong="H3966" heed|strong="H8104" to do|strong="H6213" the commandment|strong="H4687" and the law|strong="H8451", which Moses|strong="H4872" the servant|strong="H5650" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* charged|strong="H6680" you, to love|strong="H0157" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430", and to walk|strong="H3212" in all his ways|strong="H1870", and to keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687", and to cleave|strong="H1692" unto him, and to serve|strong="H5647" him with all your heart|strong="H3824" and with all your soul|strong="H5315".
So Joshua|strong="H3091" blessed|strong="H1288" them, and sent them away|strong="H7971": and they went|strong="H3212" unto their tents|strong="H0168".
Now to the one half|strong="H2677" of the tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" Moses|strong="H4872" had given|strong="H5414" possession in Bashan|strong="H1316": but unto the other half|strong="H2677" thereof gave|strong="H5414" Joshua|strong="H3091" among|strong="H5973" their brethren|strong="H0251" on this side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383" westward|strong="H3220". And when Joshua|strong="H3091" sent them away|strong="H7971" also unto their tents|strong="H0168", then he blessed|strong="H1288" them,
And he spake|strong="H0559" unto them, saying|strong="H0559", Return|strong="H7725" with much|strong="H7227" riches|strong="H5233" unto your tents|strong="H0168", and with very|strong="H3966" much|strong="H7227" cattle|strong="H4735", with silver|strong="H3701", and with gold|strong="H2091", and with brass|strong="H5178", and with iron|strong="H1270", and with very|strong="H3966" much|strong="H7235" raiment|strong="H8008": divide|strong="H2505" the spoil|strong="H7998" of your enemies|strong="H0341" with your brethren|strong="H0251".
And the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" and the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" returned|strong="H7725", and departed|strong="H3212" from the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" out of Shiloh|strong="H7887", which is in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", to go|strong="H3212" unto the country|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568", to the land|strong="H0776" of their possession|strong="H0272", whereof they were possessed|strong="H0270", according to the word|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872".
And when they came|strong="H0935" unto the borders|strong="H1552" of Jordan|strong="H3383", that are in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" and the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" built|strong="H1129" there an altar|strong="H4196" by Jordan|strong="H3383", a great|strong="H1419" altar|strong="H4196" to see to|strong="H4758".
And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" heard|strong="H8085" say|strong="H0559", Behold, the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" and the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" have built|strong="H1129" an altar|strong="H4196" over against|strong="H4136" the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", in the borders|strong="H1552" of Jordan|strong="H3383", at the passage|strong="H5676" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And when the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" heard|strong="H8085" of it, the whole congregation|strong="H5712" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" gathered themselves together|strong="H6950" at Shiloh|strong="H7887", to go up|strong="H5927" to war|strong="H6635" against them.
And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" sent|strong="H7971" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205", and to the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410", and to the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", into the land|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568", Phinehas|strong="H6372" the son|strong="H1121" of Eleazar|strong="H0499" the priest|strong="H3548",
And with him ten|strong="H6235" princes|strong="H5387", of each|strong="H0259" chief|strong="H5387" house|strong="H1004" a prince|strong="H0001" throughout all the tribes|strong="H4294" of Israel|strong="H3478"; and each one|strong="H0376" was an head|strong="H7218" of the house|strong="H1004" of their fathers|strong="H0001" among the thousands|strong="H0505" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And they came|strong="H0935" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205", and to the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410", and to the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", unto the land|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568", and they spake|strong="H1696" with them, saying|strong="H0559",
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the whole congregation|strong="H5712" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, What trespass|strong="H4604" is this that ye have committed|strong="H4603" against the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", to turn away|strong="H7725" this day|strong="H3117" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, in that ye have builded|strong="H1129" you an altar|strong="H4196", that ye might rebel|strong="H4775" this day|strong="H3117" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*?
Is the iniquity|strong="H5771" of Peor|strong="H6465" too little|strong="H4592" for us, from which we are not cleansed|strong="H2891" until this day|strong="H3117", although there was a plague|strong="H5063" in the congregation|strong="H5712" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*,
But that ye must turn away|strong="H7725" this day|strong="H3117" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*? and it will be, seeing ye rebel|strong="H4775" to day|strong="H3117" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that to morrow|strong="H4279" he will be wroth|strong="H7107" with the whole congregation|strong="H5712" of Israel|strong="H3478".
Notwithstanding|strong="H0389", if the land|strong="H0776" of your possession|strong="H0272" be unclean|strong="H2931", then pass ye over|strong="H5674" unto the land|strong="H0776" of the possession|strong="H0272" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, wherein the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* tabernacle|strong="H4908" dwelleth|strong="H7931", and take possession|strong="H0270" among|strong="H8432" us: but rebel|strong="H4775" not against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, nor|strong="H0408" rebel|strong="H4775" against us, in building|strong="H1129" you an altar|strong="H4196" beside|strong="H1107" the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430".
Did not Achan|strong="H5912" the son|strong="H1121" of Zerah|strong="H2226" commit|strong="H4603" a trespass|strong="H4604" in the accursed thing|strong="H2764", and wrath|strong="H7110" fell|strong="H1961" on all the congregation|strong="H5712" of Israel|strong="H3478"? and that man|strong="H0376" perished|strong="H1478" not alone|strong="H0259" in his iniquity|strong="H5771".
Then the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" and the half|strong="H2677" tribe|strong="H7626" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" answered|strong="H6030", and said|strong="H1696" unto the heads|strong="H7218" of the thousands|strong="H0505" of Israel|strong="H3478",
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0410" of gods|strong="H0430", the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0410" of gods|strong="H0430", he knoweth|strong="H3045", and Israel|strong="H3478" he shall know|strong="H3045"; if it be in rebellion|strong="H4777", or if in transgression|strong="H4604" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, (save|strong="H3467" us not this day|strong="H3117",)
That we have built|strong="H1129" us an altar|strong="H4196" to turn|strong="H7725" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, or if to offer|strong="H5927" thereon burnt offering|strong="H5930" or meat offering|strong="H4503", or if to offer|strong="H6213" peace|strong="H8002" offerings|strong="H2077" thereon, let the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* himself require|strong="H1245" it;
And if we have not rather done|strong="H6213" it for fear|strong="H1674" of this thing|strong="H1697", saying|strong="H0559", In time to come|strong="H4279" your children|strong="H1121" might speak|strong="H0559" unto our children|strong="H1121", saying|strong="H0559", What have ye to do with the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"?
For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath made|strong="H5414" Jordan|strong="H3383" a border|strong="H1366" between us and you, ye children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410"; ye have no part|strong="H2506" in the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: so shall your children|strong="H1121" make|strong="H7673" our children|strong="H1121" cease|strong="H7673" from|strong="H1115" fearing|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Therefore we said|strong="H0559", Let us now prepare|strong="H6213" to build|strong="H1129" us an altar|strong="H4196", not for burnt offering|strong="H5930", nor for sacrifice|strong="H2077":
But that it may be a witness|strong="H5707" between us, and you, and our generations|strong="H1755" after|strong="H0310" us, that we might do|strong="H5647" the service|strong="H5656" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* before|strong="H6440" him with our burnt offerings|strong="H5930", and with our sacrifices|strong="H2077", and with our peace offerings|strong="H8002"; that your children|strong="H1121" may not say|strong="H0559" to our children|strong="H1121" in time to come|strong="H4279", Ye have no part|strong="H2506" in the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Therefore said|strong="H0559" we, that it shall be, when they should so say|strong="H0559" to us or to our generations|strong="H1755" in time to come|strong="H4279", that we may say|strong="H0559" again, Behold|strong="H7200" the pattern|strong="H8403" of the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which our fathers|strong="H0001" made|strong="H6213", not for burnt offerings|strong="H5930", nor for sacrifices|strong="H2077"; but it is a witness|strong="H5707" between us and you.
God forbid|strong="H2486" that we should rebel|strong="H4775" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and turn|strong="H7725" this day|strong="H3117" from following|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to build|strong="H1129" an altar|strong="H4196" for burnt offerings|strong="H5930", for meat offerings|strong="H4503", or for sacrifices|strong="H2077", beside the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" that is before|strong="H6440" his tabernacle|strong="H4908".
And when Phinehas|strong="H6372" the priest|strong="H3548", and the princes|strong="H5387" of the congregation|strong="H5712" and heads|strong="H7218" of the thousands|strong="H0505" of Israel|strong="H3478" which were with him, heard|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" that the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" and the children|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" spake|strong="H1696", it pleased|strong="H3190" them.
And Phinehas|strong="H6372" the son|strong="H1121" of Eleazar|strong="H0499" the priest|strong="H3548" said|strong="H0559" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205", and to the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410", and to the children|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", This day|strong="H3117" we perceive|strong="H3045" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is among|strong="H8432" us, because ye have not committed|strong="H4603" this trespass|strong="H4604" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: now|strong="H0227" ye have delivered|strong="H5337" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And Phinehas|strong="H6372" the son|strong="H1121" of Eleazar|strong="H0499" the priest|strong="H3548", and the princes|strong="H5387", returned|strong="H7725" from the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205", and from the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410", out of the land|strong="H0776" of Gilead|strong="H1568", unto the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", to the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", and brought|strong="H7725" them word|strong="H1697" again|strong="H7725".
And the thing|strong="H1697" pleased|strong="H3190" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478"; and the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" blessed|strong="H1288" God|strong="H0430", and did not intend|strong="H0559" to go up|strong="H5927" against them in battle|strong="H6635", to destroy|strong="H7843" the land|strong="H0776" wherein the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and Gad|strong="H1410" dwelt|strong="H3427".
And the children|strong="H1121" of Reuben|strong="H7205" and the children|strong="H1121" of Gad|strong="H1410" called|strong="H7121" the altar|strong="H4196" Ed: for it shall be a witness|strong="H5707" between us that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is God|strong="H0430".
