The word|strong="H1697" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" against Babylon|strong="H0894" and against the land|strong="H0776" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778" by|strong="H3027" Jeremiah|strong="H3414" the prophet|strong="H5030".
Declare|strong="H5046" ye among the nations|strong="H1471", and publish|strong="H8085", and set up|strong="H5375" a standard|strong="H5251"; publish|strong="H8085", and conceal|strong="H3582" not: say|strong="H0559", Babylon|strong="H0894" is taken|strong="H3920", Bel|strong="H1078" is confounded|strong="H3001", Merodach|strong="H4781" is broken in pieces|strong="H2865"; her idols|strong="H6091" are confounded|strong="H3001", her images|strong="H1544" are broken in pieces|strong="H2865".
For out of the north|strong="H6828" there cometh up|strong="H5927" a nation|strong="H1471" against her, which shall make|strong="H7896" her land|strong="H0776" desolate|strong="H8047", and none shall dwell|strong="H3427" therein: they shall remove|strong="H5110", they shall depart|strong="H1980", both man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929".
In those days|strong="H3117", and in that time|strong="H6256", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" shall come|strong="H0935", they and the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063" together|strong="H3162", going|strong="H1980" and weeping|strong="H1058": they shall go|strong="H3212", and seek|strong="H1245" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430".
They shall ask|strong="H7592" the way|strong="H1870" to Zion|strong="H6726" with their faces|strong="H6440" thitherward|strong="H2008", saying, Come|strong="H0935", and let us join|strong="H3867" ourselves to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in a perpetual|strong="H5769" covenant|strong="H1285" that shall not be forgotten|strong="H7911".
My people|strong="H5971" hath been lost|strong="H0006" sheep|strong="H6629": their shepherds|strong="H7462" have caused them to go astray|strong="H8582", they have turned them away|strong="H7725" on the mountains|strong="H2022": they have gone|strong="H1980" from mountain|strong="H2022" to hill|strong="H1389", they have forgotten|strong="H7911" their restingplace|strong="H7258".
All that found|strong="H4672" them have devoured|strong="H0398" them: and their adversaries|strong="H6862" said|strong="H0559", We offend|strong="H0816" not, because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the habitation|strong="H5116" of justice|strong="H6664", even the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the hope|strong="H4723" of their fathers|strong="H0001".
Remove|strong="H5110" out of the midst|strong="H8432" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and go forth|strong="H3318" out of the land|strong="H0776" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", and be as the he goats|strong="H6260" before|strong="H6440" the flocks|strong="H6629".
For, lo, I will raise|strong="H5782" and cause to come up|strong="H5927" against Babylon|strong="H0894" an assembly|strong="H6951" of great|strong="H1419" nations|strong="H1471" from the north|strong="H6828" country|strong="H0776": and they shall set themselves in array|strong="H6186" against her; from thence she shall be taken|strong="H3920": their arrows|strong="H2671" shall be as of a mighty|strong="H1368" expert man|strong="H7919"; none shall return|strong="H7725" in vain|strong="H7387".
And Chaldea|strong="H3778" shall be a spoil|strong="H7998": all that spoil|strong="H7997" her shall be satisfied|strong="H7646", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Because ye were glad|strong="H8055", because ye rejoiced|strong="H5937", O ye destroyers|strong="H8154" of mine heritage|strong="H5159", because ye are grown fat|strong="H6335" as the heifer|strong="H5697" at grass|strong="H1877", and bellow|strong="H6670" as bulls|strong="H0047";
Your mother|strong="H0517" shall be sore|strong="H3966" confounded|strong="H0954"; she that bare|strong="H3205" you shall be ashamed|strong="H2659": behold, the hindermost|strong="H0319" of the nations|strong="H1471" shall be a wilderness|strong="H4057", a dry land|strong="H6723", and a desert|strong="H6160".
Because of the wrath|strong="H7110" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* it shall not be inhabited|strong="H3427", but it shall be wholly desolate|strong="H8077": every one that goeth|strong="H5674" by Babylon|strong="H0894" shall be astonished|strong="H8074", and hiss|strong="H8319" at all her plagues|strong="H4347".
Put yourselves in array|strong="H6186" against Babylon|strong="H0894" round about|strong="H5439": all ye that bend|strong="H1869" the bow|strong="H7198", shoot|strong="H3034" at her, spare|strong="H2550" no arrows|strong="H2671": for she hath sinned|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Shout|strong="H7321" against her round about|strong="H5439": she hath given|strong="H5414" her hand|strong="H3027": her foundations|strong="H0803" are fallen|strong="H5307", her walls|strong="H2346" are thrown down|strong="H2040": for it is the vengeance|strong="H5360" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: take vengeance|strong="H5358" upon her; as she hath done|strong="H6213", do|strong="H6213" unto her.
Cut off|strong="H3772" the sower|strong="H2232" from Babylon|strong="H0894", and him that handleth|strong="H8610" the sickle|strong="H4038" in the time|strong="H6256" of harvest|strong="H7105": for fear|strong="H6440" of the oppressing|strong="H3238" sword|strong="H2719" they shall turn|strong="H6437" every one|strong="H0376" to his people|strong="H5971", and they shall flee|strong="H5127" every one|strong="H0376" to his own land|strong="H0776".
Israel|strong="H3478" is a scattered|strong="H6340" sheep|strong="H7716"; the lions|strong="H0738" have driven him away|strong="H5080": first|strong="H7223" the king|strong="H4428" of Assyria|strong="H0804" hath devoured|strong="H0398" him; and last|strong="H0314" this Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" hath broken his bones|strong="H6105".
Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Behold, I will punish|strong="H6485" the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" and his land|strong="H0776", as I have punished|strong="H6485" the king|strong="H4428" of Assyria|strong="H0804".
And I will bring|strong="H7725" Israel|strong="H3478" again|strong="H7725" to his habitation|strong="H5116", and he shall feed|strong="H7462" on Carmel|strong="H3760" and Bashan|strong="H1316", and his soul|strong="H5315" shall be satisfied|strong="H7646" upon mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669" and Gilead|strong="H1568".
In those days|strong="H3117", and in that time|strong="H6256", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the iniquity|strong="H5771" of Israel|strong="H3478" shall be sought for|strong="H1245", and there shall be none; and the sins|strong="H2403" of Judah|strong="H3063", and they shall not be found|strong="H4672": for I will pardon|strong="H5545" them whom I reserve|strong="H7604".
Go up|strong="H5927" against the land|strong="H0776" of Merathaim|strong="H4850", even against it, and against the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Pekod|strong="H6489": waste|strong="H2717" and utterly destroy|strong="H2763" after|strong="H0310" them, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and do|strong="H6213" according to all that I have commanded|strong="H6680" thee.
A sound|strong="H6963" of battle|strong="H4421" is in the land|strong="H0776", and of great|strong="H1419" destruction|strong="H7667".
How is the hammer|strong="H6360" of the whole earth|strong="H0776" cut asunder|strong="H1438" and broken|strong="H7665"! how is Babylon|strong="H0894" become a desolation|strong="H8047" among the nations|strong="H1471"!
I have laid a snare|strong="H3369" for thee, and thou art also taken|strong="H3920", O Babylon|strong="H0894", and thou wast not aware|strong="H3045": thou art found|strong="H4672", and also caught|strong="H8610", because thou hast striven|strong="H1624" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath opened|strong="H6605" his armoury|strong="H0214", and hath brought forth|strong="H3318" the weapons|strong="H3627" of his indignation|strong="H2195": for this is the work|strong="H4399" of the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" in the land|strong="H0776" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778".
Come|strong="H0935" against her from the utmost border|strong="H7093", open|strong="H6605" her storehouses|strong="H3965": cast her up|strong="H5549" as heaps|strong="H6194", and destroy her utterly|strong="H2763": let nothing of her be left|strong="H7611".
Slay|strong="H2717" all her bullocks|strong="H6499"; let them go down|strong="H3381" to the slaughter|strong="H2874": woe|strong="H1945" unto them! for their day|strong="H3117" is come|strong="H0935", the time|strong="H6256" of their visitation|strong="H6486".
The voice|strong="H6963" of them that flee|strong="H5127" and escape out|strong="H6405" of the land|strong="H0776" of Babylon|strong="H0894", to declare|strong="H5046" in Zion|strong="H6726" the vengeance|strong="H5360" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", the vengeance|strong="H5360" of his temple|strong="H1964".
Call together|strong="H8085" the archers|strong="H7228" against Babylon|strong="H0894": all ye that bend|strong="H1869" the bow|strong="H7198", camp|strong="H2583" against it round about|strong="H5439"; let none thereof escape|strong="H6413": recompense|strong="H7999" her according to her work|strong="H6467"; according to all that she hath done|strong="H6213", do|strong="H6213" unto her: for she hath been proud|strong="H2102" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, against the Holy One|strong="H6918" of Israel|strong="H3478".
Therefore shall her young men|strong="H0970" fall|strong="H5307" in the streets|strong="H7339", and all her men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421" shall be cut off|strong="H1826" in that day|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud|strong="H2087", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635": for thy day|strong="H3117" is come|strong="H0935", the time|strong="H6256" that I will visit|strong="H6485" thee.
And the most proud|strong="H2087" shall stumble|strong="H3782" and fall|strong="H5307", and none shall raise him up|strong="H6965": and I will kindle|strong="H3341" a fire|strong="H0784" in his cities|strong="H5892", and it shall devour|strong="H0398" all round about|strong="H5439" him.
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; The children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" and the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063" were oppressed|strong="H6231" together|strong="H3162": and all that took them captives|strong="H7617" held them fast|strong="H2388"; they refused|strong="H3985" to let them go|strong="H7971".
Their Redeemer|strong="H1350" is strong|strong="H2389"; the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" is his name|strong="H8034": he shall throughly|strong="H7378" plead|strong="H7378" their cause|strong="H7379", that he may give rest|strong="H7280" to the land|strong="H0776", and disquiet|strong="H7264" the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Babylon|strong="H0894".
A sword|strong="H2719" is upon the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and upon the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and upon her princes|strong="H8269", and upon her wise|strong="H2450" men.
A sword|strong="H2719" is upon the liars|strong="H0907"; and they shall dote|strong="H2973": a sword|strong="H2719" is upon her mighty men|strong="H1368"; and they shall be dismayed|strong="H2865".
A sword|strong="H2719" is upon their horses|strong="H5483", and upon their chariots|strong="H7393", and upon all the mingled people|strong="H6153" that are in the midst|strong="H8432" of her; and they shall become as women|strong="H0802": a sword|strong="H2719" is upon her treasures|strong="H0214"; and they shall be robbed|strong="H0962".
A drought|strong="H2721" is upon her waters|strong="H4325"; and they shall be dried up|strong="H3001": for it is the land|strong="H0776" of graven images|strong="H6456", and they are mad|strong="H1984" upon their idols|strong="H0367".
Therefore the wild beasts of the desert|strong="H6728" with the wild beasts of the islands|strong="H0338" shall dwell|strong="H3427" there, and the owls|strong="H1323" shall dwell|strong="H3427" therein: and it shall be no more inhabited|strong="H3427" for ever|strong="H5331"; neither shall it be dwelt|strong="H7931" in from generation|strong="H1755" to generation|strong="H1755".
As God|strong="H0430" overthrew|strong="H4114" Sodom|strong="H5467" and Gomorrah|strong="H6017" and the neighbour|strong="H7934" cities thereof, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; so shall no man|strong="H0376" abide|strong="H3427" there, neither shall any son|strong="H1121" of man|strong="H0120" dwell|strong="H1481" therein.
Behold, a people|strong="H5971" shall come|strong="H0935" from the north|strong="H6828", and a great|strong="H1419" nation|strong="H1471", and many|strong="H7227" kings|strong="H4428" shall be raised up|strong="H5782" from the coasts|strong="H3411" of the earth|strong="H0776".
They shall hold|strong="H2388" the bow|strong="H7198" and the lance|strong="H3591": they are cruel|strong="H0394", and will not shew mercy|strong="H7355": their voice|strong="H6963" shall roar|strong="H1993" like the sea|strong="H3220", and they shall ride|strong="H7392" upon horses|strong="H5483", every one put in array|strong="H6186", like a man|strong="H0376" to the battle|strong="H4421", against thee, O daughter|strong="H1323" of Babylon|strong="H0894".
The king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" hath heard|strong="H8085" the report|strong="H8088" of them, and his hands|strong="H3027" waxed feeble|strong="H7503": anguish|strong="H6869" took hold|strong="H2388" of him, and pangs|strong="H2427" as of a woman in travail|strong="H3205".
Behold, he shall come up|strong="H5927" like a lion|strong="H0738" from the swelling|strong="H1347" of Jordan|strong="H3383" unto the habitation|strong="H5116" of the strong|strong="H0386": but I will make|strong="H7323" them suddenly|strong="H7280" run away|strong="H7323" from her: and who is a chosen|strong="H0977" man, that I may appoint|strong="H6485" over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time|strong="H3259"? and who is that shepherd|strong="H7462" that will stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" me?
Therefore hear|strong="H8085" ye the counsel|strong="H6098" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that he hath taken|strong="H3289" against Babylon|strong="H0894"; and his purposes|strong="H4284", that he hath purposed|strong="H2803" against the land|strong="H0776" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778": Surely the least|strong="H6810" of the flock|strong="H6629" shall draw them out|strong="H5498": surely he shall make their habitation|strong="H5116" desolate|strong="H8074" with them.
At the noise|strong="H6963" of the taking|strong="H8610" of Babylon|strong="H0894" the earth|strong="H0776" is moved|strong="H7493", and the cry|strong="H2201" is heard|strong="H8085" among the nations|strong="H1471".
