1 Jetro, o sacerdote de Midiã e sogro de Moisés, soube de tudo o que Deus havia feito por Moisés e pelo povo de Israel. E soube também como o Senhor havia tirado do Egito os israelitas.

5 Jetro, o sogro de Moisés, foi com a mulher e os dois filhos de Moisés para o deserto onde Moisés estava acampado, no monte sagrado .

6 Ele havia mandado um recado a Moisés, dizendo que estava chegando, com a mulher e os filhos dele.
7 And Moses|strong="H4872" went out|strong="H3318" to meet|strong="H7125" his father in law|strong="H2859", and did obeisance|strong="H7812", and kissed|strong="H5401" him; and they asked|strong="H7592" each|strong="H0376" other|strong="H7453" of their welfare|strong="H7965"; and they came|strong="H0935" into the tent|strong="H0168".

8 Ele contou ao sogro tudo o que o Senhor Deus, por causa do seu amor pelo povo de Israel, tinha feito com o rei do Egito e com os egípcios. Falou também a respeito das dificuldades que o povo havia tido no caminho e como o Senhor os havia socorrido.
9 And Jethro|strong="H3503" rejoiced|strong="H2302" for all the goodness|strong="H2896" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had done|strong="H6213" to Israel|strong="H3478", whom he had delivered|strong="H5337" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714".
9 Jetro ficou muito contente com tudo o que o Senhor havia feito pelo povo de Israel, tirando-o do Egito.
10 And Jethro|strong="H3503" said|strong="H0559", Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, who hath delivered|strong="H5337" you out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714", and out of the hand|strong="H3027" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", who hath delivered|strong="H5337" the people|strong="H5971" from under the hand|strong="H3027" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714".

11 Now I know|strong="H3045" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is greater|strong="H1419" than all gods|strong="H0430": for in the thing|strong="H1697" wherein they dealt proudly|strong="H2102" he was above them.
11 Agora sei que o Senhor é mais poderoso do que todos os deuses, pois livrou os israelitas do poder dos egípcios, quando eles os trataram com tanto desprezo.
12 And Jethro|strong="H3503", Moses’|strong="H4872" father in law|strong="H2859", took|strong="H3947" a burnt offering|strong="H5930" and sacrifices|strong="H2077" for God|strong="H0430": and Aaron|strong="H0175" came|strong="H0935", and all the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478", to eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899" with Moses’|strong="H4872" father in law|strong="H2859" before|strong="H6440" God|strong="H0430".
12 Em seguida Jetro trouxe uma oferta para ser completamente queimada e animais para serem mortos como sacrifício a Deus. Arão e todos os líderes do povo de Israel foram com ele para comer a refeição sagrada.

13 No dia seguinte Moisés sentou-se para julgar as questões do povo e ficou ocupado desde a manhã até a noite.
14 And when Moses’|strong="H4872" father in law|strong="H2859" saw|strong="H7200" all that he did|strong="H6213" to the people|strong="H5971", he said|strong="H0559", What is this thing|strong="H1697" that thou doest|strong="H6213" to the people|strong="H5971"? why sittest|strong="H3427" thou thyself alone, and all the people|strong="H5971" stand|strong="H5324" by thee from morning|strong="H1242" unto even|strong="H6153"?
14 Quando Jetro viu tudo o que Moisés estava fazendo, perguntou: — Por que você está agindo assim? Por que está resolvendo sozinho os problemas do povo, com todas essas pessoas em pé ao seu redor, desde a manhã até a noite?
15 And Moses|strong="H4872" said|strong="H0559" unto his father in law|strong="H2859", Because the people|strong="H5971" come|strong="H0935" unto me to enquire|strong="H1875" of God|strong="H0430":
15 Moisés respondeu: — Eu tenho de fazer isso porque as pessoas vêm falar comigo para saber o que Deus quer.
16 When they have a matter|strong="H1697", they come|strong="H0935" unto me; and I judge|strong="H8199" between one|strong="H0376" and another|strong="H7453", and I do make them know|strong="H3045" the statutes|strong="H2706" of God|strong="H0430", and his laws|strong="H8451".
16 Quando duas pessoas têm uma questão, elas vêm falar comigo para que eu resolva quem está certo. E explico os mandamentos e as leis de Deus a todos.
17 And Moses’|strong="H4872" father in law|strong="H2859" said|strong="H0559" unto him, The thing|strong="H1697" that thou doest|strong="H6213" is not good|strong="H2896".
17 Então Jetro disse: — O que você está fazendo não está certo.
18 Thou wilt surely|strong="H5034" wear away|strong="H5034", both thou, and this people|strong="H5971" that is with thee: for this thing|strong="H1697" is too heavy|strong="H3515" for thee; thou art not able|strong="H3201" to perform|strong="H6213" it thyself alone.
18 Desse jeito você vai ficar cansado demais, e o povo também. Isso é muito trabalho para você fazer sozinho.
19 Hearken|strong="H8085" now unto my voice|strong="H6963", I will give thee counsel|strong="H3289", and God|strong="H0430" shall be|strong="H1961" with thee: Be thou for the people|strong="H5971" to God-ward|strong="H4136", that thou mayest bring|strong="H0935" the causes|strong="H1697" unto God|strong="H0430":
19 Agora escute o meu conselho, e Deus o ajudará. Está certo que você represente o povo diante de Deus e também que leve a ele os problemas deles.
20 And thou shalt teach|strong="H2094" them ordinances|strong="H2706" and laws|strong="H8451", and shalt shew|strong="H3045" them the way|strong="H1870" wherein they must walk|strong="H3212", and the work|strong="H4639" that they must do|strong="H6213".
20 Você deve ensinar-lhes as leis de Deus e explicar o que devem fazer e como devem viver.
21 Moreover thou shalt provide|strong="H2372" out of all the people|strong="H5971" able|strong="H2428" men|strong="H0582", such as fear|strong="H3373" God|strong="H0430", men|strong="H0582" of truth|strong="H0571", hating|strong="H8130" covetousness|strong="H1215"; and place|strong="H7760" such over them, to be rulers|strong="H8269" of thousands|strong="H0505", and rulers|strong="H8269" of hundreds|strong="H3967", rulers|strong="H8269" of fifties|strong="H2572", and rulers|strong="H8269" of tens|strong="H6235":
21 Mas você deve escolher alguns homens capazes e colocá-los como chefes do povo: chefes de mil, de cem, de cinquenta e de dez. Devem ser homens que temam a Deus , que mereçam confiança e que sejam honestos em tudo.
22 And let them judge|strong="H8199" the people|strong="H5971" at all seasons|strong="H6256": and it shall be, that every great|strong="H1419" matter|strong="H1697" they shall bring|strong="H0935" unto thee, but every small|strong="H6996" matter|strong="H1697" they shall judge|strong="H8199": so shall it be easier|strong="H7043" for thyself, and they shall bear|strong="H5375" the burden with thee.
22 Serão eles que sempre julgarão as questões do povo. Os casos mais difíceis serão trazidos a você, mas os mais fáceis eles mesmos poderão resolver. Assim será melhor para você, pois eles o ajudarão nesse trabalho pesado.
23 If thou shalt do|strong="H6213" this thing|strong="H1697", and God|strong="H0430" command|strong="H6680" thee so, then thou shalt be able|strong="H3201" to endure|strong="H5975", and all this people|strong="H5971" shall also go|strong="H0935" to their place|strong="H4725" in peace|strong="H7965".
23 Se você fizer isso, e se for essa a ordem de Deus, você não ficará cansado, e todas essas pessoas poderão ir para casa com as suas questões resolvidas.
24 So Moses|strong="H4872" hearkened|strong="H8085" to the voice|strong="H6963" of his father in law|strong="H2859", and did|strong="H6213" all that he had said|strong="H0559".
24 Moisés aceitou o conselho de Jetro
25 And Moses|strong="H4872" chose|strong="H0977" able|strong="H2428" men|strong="H0582" out of all Israel|strong="H3478", and made|strong="H5414" them heads|strong="H7218" over the people|strong="H5971", rulers|strong="H8269" of thousands|strong="H0505", rulers|strong="H8269" of hundreds|strong="H3967", rulers|strong="H8269" of fifties|strong="H2572", and rulers|strong="H8269" of tens|strong="H6235".
25 e escolheu homens capazes entre todos os israelitas. Ele os colocou como chefes de mil, de cem, de cinquenta e de dez.
26 And they judged|strong="H8199" the people|strong="H5971" at all seasons|strong="H6256": the hard|strong="H7186" causes|strong="H1697" they brought|strong="H0935" unto Moses|strong="H4872", but every small|strong="H6996" matter|strong="H1697" they judged|strong="H8199" themselves.
26 Eles sempre julgaram as questões do povo, resolvendo as mais fáceis e trazendo para Moisés as mais difíceis.
27 And Moses|strong="H4872" let his father in law|strong="H2859" depart|strong="H7971"; and he went|strong="H3212" his way into his own land|strong="H0776".
27 Então Moisés se despediu de Jetro, e Jetro voltou para casa.
