Êxodo 17

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

And all the congregation|strong="H5712" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" journeyed|strong="H5265" from the wilderness|strong="H4057" of Sin|strong="H5512", after their journeys|strong="H4550", according to the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and pitched|strong="H2583" in Rephidim|strong="H7508": and there was no water|strong="H4325" for the people|strong="H5971" to drink|strong="H8354".

Wherefore the people|strong="H5971" did chide|strong="H7378" with Moses|strong="H4872", and said|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H5414" us water|strong="H4325" that we may drink|strong="H8354". And Moses|strong="H4872" said|strong="H0559" unto them, Why chide|strong="H7378" ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt|strong="H5254" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*?

And the people|strong="H5971" thirsted|strong="H6770" there for water|strong="H4325"; and the people|strong="H5971" murmured|strong="H3885" against Moses|strong="H4872", and said|strong="H0559", Wherefore is this that thou hast brought|strong="H5927" us up out of Egypt|strong="H4714", to kill|strong="H4191" us and our children|strong="H1121" and our cattle|strong="H4735" with thirst|strong="H6772"?

And Moses|strong="H4872" cried|strong="H6817" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, saying|strong="H0559", What shall I do|strong="H6213" unto this people|strong="H5971"? they be almost|strong="H4592" ready to stone|strong="H5619" me.

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", Go on|strong="H5674" before|strong="H6440" the people|strong="H5971", and take|strong="H3947" with thee of the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478"; and thy rod|strong="H4294", wherewith thou smotest|strong="H5221" the river|strong="H2975", take|strong="H3947" in thine hand|strong="H3027", and go|strong="H1980".

Behold, I will stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" thee there upon the rock|strong="H6697" in Horeb|strong="H2722"; and thou shalt smite|strong="H5221" the rock|strong="H6697", and there shall come|strong="H3318" water|strong="H4325" out of it, that the people|strong="H5971" may drink|strong="H8354". And Moses|strong="H4872" did|strong="H6213" so in the sight|strong="H5869" of the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And he called|strong="H7121" the name|strong="H8034" of the place|strong="H4725" Massah|strong="H4532", and Meribah|strong="H4809", because of the chiding|strong="H7379" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", and because they tempted|strong="H5254" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, saying|strong="H0559", Is|strong="H3426" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* among|strong="H7130" us, or not?

Then came|strong="H0935" Amalek|strong="H6002", and fought|strong="H3898" with Israel|strong="H3478" in Rephidim|strong="H7508".

And Moses|strong="H4872" said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", Choose us out|strong="H0977" men|strong="H0582", and go out|strong="H3318", fight|strong="H3898" with Amalek|strong="H6002": to morrow|strong="H4279" I will stand|strong="H5324" on the top|strong="H7218" of the hill|strong="H1389" with the rod|strong="H4294" of God|strong="H0430" in mine hand|strong="H3027".

So Joshua|strong="H3091" did|strong="H6213" as Moses|strong="H4872" had said|strong="H0559" to him, and fought|strong="H3898" with Amalek|strong="H6002": and Moses|strong="H4872", Aaron|strong="H0175", and Hur|strong="H2354" went up|strong="H5927" to the top|strong="H7218" of the hill|strong="H1389".

And it came to pass, when Moses|strong="H4872" held up|strong="H7311" his hand|strong="H3027", that Israel|strong="H3478" prevailed|strong="H1396": and when he let down|strong="H5117" his hand|strong="H3027", Amalek|strong="H6002" prevailed|strong="H1396".

But Moses’|strong="H4872" hands|strong="H3027" were heavy|strong="H3515"; and they took|strong="H3947" a stone|strong="H0068", and put|strong="H7760" it under him, and he sat|strong="H3427" thereon; and Aaron|strong="H0175" and Hur|strong="H2354" stayed up|strong="H8551" his hands|strong="H3027", the one on the one side|strong="H0259", and the other on the other side|strong="H0259"; and his hands|strong="H3027" were steady|strong="H0530" until the going down|strong="H0935" of the sun|strong="H8121".

And Joshua|strong="H3091" discomfited|strong="H2522" Amalek|strong="H6002" and his people|strong="H5971" with the edge|strong="H6310" of the sword|strong="H2719".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Moses|strong="H4872", Write|strong="H3789" this for a memorial|strong="H2146" in a book|strong="H5612", and rehearse|strong="H7760" it in the ears|strong="H0241" of Joshua|strong="H3091": for I will utterly|strong="H4229" put out|strong="H4229" the remembrance|strong="H2143" of Amalek|strong="H6002" from under heaven|strong="H8064".

And Moses|strong="H4872" built|strong="H1129" an altar|strong="H4196", and called|strong="H7121" the name|strong="H8034" of it Jehovah-nissi|strong="H3071":

For he said|strong="H0559", Because the \+w LORD|strong="H3050"\+w* hath sworn|strong="H3027" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will have war|strong="H4421" with Amalek|strong="H6002" from generation|strong="H1755" to generation|strong="H1755".
