Atos 18

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

After|strong="G3326" these things|strong="G5023" Paul|strong="G3972" departed|strong="G5563" from|strong="G1537" Athens|strong="G0116", and came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" Corinth|strong="G2882";

And|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2147" a certain|strong="G5100" Jew|strong="G2453" named|strong="G3686" Aquila|strong="G0207", born|strong="G1085" in Pontus|strong="G4193", lately|strong="G4373" come|strong="G2064" from|strong="G0575" Italy|strong="G2482", with|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" wife|strong="G1135" Priscilla|strong="G4252"; (because that|strong="G1223" Claudius|strong="G2804" had commanded|strong="G1299" all|strong="G3956" Jews|strong="G2453" to depart|strong="G5563" from|strong="G1537" Rome|strong="G4516":) and came|strong="G4334" unto them|strong="G0846".

And|strong="G2532" because|strong="G1511" he was|strong="G2258" of the same craft|strong="G3673", he abode|strong="G3306" with|strong="G3844" them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" wrought|strong="G2038": for|strong="G1063" by their occupation|strong="G5078" they were tentmakers|strong="G4635".

And|strong="G1161" he reasoned|strong="G1256" in|strong="G1722" the synagogue|strong="G4864" every|strong="G3956" sabbath|strong="G4521", and|strong="G5037" persuaded|strong="G3982" the Jews|strong="G2453" and|strong="G2532" the Greeks|strong="G1672".

And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" Silas|strong="G4609" and|strong="G2532" Timotheus|strong="G5095" were come|strong="G2718" from|strong="G0575" Macedonia|strong="G3109", Paul|strong="G3972" was pressed|strong="G4912" in the spirit|strong="G4151", and testified|strong="G1263" to the Jews|strong="G2453" that Jesus|strong="G2424" was Christ|strong="G5547".

And|strong="G1161" when they opposed|strong="G0498" themselves|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" blasphemed|strong="G0987", he shook|strong="G1621" his raiment|strong="G2440", and said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", Your|strong="G5216" blood|strong="G0129" be upon|strong="G1909" your own|strong="G5216" heads|strong="G2776"; I|strong="G1473" am clean|strong="G2513": from|strong="G0575" henceforth|strong="G3568" I will go|strong="G4198" unto|strong="G1519" the Gentiles|strong="G1484".

And|strong="G2532" he departed|strong="G3327" thence|strong="G1564", and entered|strong="G2064" into|strong="G1519" a certain|strong="G5100" man’s house|strong="G3614", named|strong="G3686" Justus|strong="G2459", one that|strong="G3739" worshipped|strong="G4576" God|strong="G2316", whose|strong="G3588" house|strong="G3614" joined hard to|strong="G4927" the synagogue|strong="G4864".

And|strong="G1161" Crispus|strong="G2921", the chief ruler of the synagogue|strong="G0752", believed|strong="G4100" on the Lord|strong="G2962" with|strong="G4862" all|strong="G3650" his|strong="G0846" house|strong="G3624"; and|strong="G2532" many|strong="G4183" of the Corinthians|strong="G2881" hearing|strong="G0191" believed|strong="G4100", and|strong="G2532" were baptized|strong="G0907".

Then|strong="G1161" spake|strong="G2036" the Lord|strong="G2962" to Paul|strong="G3972" in|strong="G1722" the night|strong="G3571" by|strong="G1223" a vision|strong="G3705", \+w Be|strong="G5399"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3361"\+w* \+w afraid|strong="G5399"\+w*, \+w but|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w speak|strong="G2980"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w hold|strong="G4623"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3361"\+w* \+w thy peace|strong="G4623"\+w*:

\+w For|strong="G1360"\+w* \+w I|strong="G1473"\+w* \+w am|strong="G1510"\+w* \+w with|strong="G3326"\+w* \+w thee|strong="G4675"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w no man|strong="G3762"\+w* \+w shall set|strong="G2007"\+w* \+w on thee|strong="G4671"\+w* \+w to hurt|strong="G2559"\+w* \+w thee|strong="G4571"\+w*: \+w for|strong="G1360"\+w* \+w I|strong="G3427"\+w* \+w have|strong="G2076"\+w* \+w much|strong="G4183"\+w* \+w people|strong="G2992"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w this|strong="G3778"\+w* \+w city|strong="G4172"\+w*.

And|strong="G5037" he continued|strong="G2523" there a year|strong="G1763" and|strong="G2532" six|strong="G1803" months|strong="G3376", teaching|strong="G1321" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316" among|strong="G1722" them|strong="G0846".

And|strong="G1161" when Gallio|strong="G1058" was the deputy|strong="G0445" of Achaia|strong="G0882", the Jews|strong="G2453" made insurrection|strong="G2721" with one accord|strong="G3661" against Paul|strong="G3972", and|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G0071" him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G1909" the judgment seat|strong="G0968",

Saying|strong="G3004", This|strong="G3778" fellow persuadeth|strong="G0374" men|strong="G0444" to worship|strong="G4576" God|strong="G2316" contrary to|strong="G3844" the law|strong="G3551".

And|strong="G1161" when Paul|strong="G3972" was now about|strong="G3195" to open|strong="G0455" his mouth|strong="G4750", Gallio|strong="G1058" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" the Jews|strong="G2453", If|strong="G1487" it were|strong="G2258" a matter|strong="G5100" of wrong|strong="G0092" or|strong="G2228" wicked|strong="G4190" lewdness|strong="G4467", O|strong="G5599" ye Jews|strong="G2453", reason|strong="G3056" would that|strong="G2596" I should bear|strong="G0430" with you|strong="G5216":

But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" it be|strong="G2076" a question|strong="G2213" of|strong="G4012" words|strong="G3056" and|strong="G2532" names|strong="G3686", and|strong="G2532" of your|strong="G5209" law|strong="G3551", look ye|strong="G3700" to it; for|strong="G1063" I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G1014" be|strong="G1511" no|strong="G3756" judge|strong="G2923" of such|strong="G5130" matters.

And|strong="G2532" he drave|strong="G0556" them|strong="G0846" from|strong="G0575" the judgment seat|strong="G0968".

Then|strong="G1161" all|strong="G3956" the Greeks|strong="G1672" took|strong="G1949" Sosthenes|strong="G4988", the chief ruler of the synagogue|strong="G0752", and beat|strong="G5180" him before|strong="G1715" the judgment seat|strong="G0968". And|strong="G2532" Gallio|strong="G1058" cared for|strong="G3199" none|strong="G3762" of those things|strong="G5130".

And|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" after this tarried|strong="G4357" there yet|strong="G2089" a good|strong="G2425" while|strong="G2250", and then took his leave|strong="G0657" of the brethren|strong="G0080", and sailed thence|strong="G1602" into|strong="G1519" Syria|strong="G4947", and|strong="G2532" with|strong="G4862" him|strong="G0846" Priscilla|strong="G4252" and|strong="G2532" Aquila|strong="G0207"; having shorn|strong="G2751" his head|strong="G2776" in|strong="G1722" Cenchrea|strong="G2747": for|strong="G1063" he had|strong="G2192" a vow|strong="G2171".

And|strong="G1161" he came|strong="G2658" to|strong="G1519" Ephesus|strong="G2181", and|strong="G2548" left them|strong="G2641" there|strong="G0847": but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1525" himself|strong="G0846" entered|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" the synagogue|strong="G4864", and reasoned|strong="G1256" with the Jews|strong="G2453".

When|strong="G1161" they|strong="G0846" desired|strong="G2065" him to|strong="G1909" tarry|strong="G3306" longer|strong="G4119" time|strong="G5550" with|strong="G3844" them|strong="G0846", he consented|strong="G1962" not|strong="G3756";

But|strong="G0235" bade|strong="G0657" them|strong="G0846" farewell|strong="G0657", saying|strong="G2036", I|strong="G3165" must|strong="G1163" by all means|strong="G3843" keep|strong="G4160" this feast|strong="G1859" that cometh|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2414": but|strong="G1161" I will return|strong="G0344" again|strong="G3825" unto|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5209", if|strong="G2309" God|strong="G2316" will|strong="G2309". And|strong="G2532" he sailed|strong="G0321" from|strong="G0575" Ephesus|strong="G2181".

And|strong="G2532" when he had landed|strong="G2718" at|strong="G1519" Cæsarea|strong="G2542", and gone up|strong="G0305", and|strong="G2532" saluted|strong="G0782" the church|strong="G1577", he went down|strong="G2597" to|strong="G1519" Antioch|strong="G0490".

And|strong="G2532" after he had spent|strong="G4160" some|strong="G5100" time|strong="G5550" there, he departed|strong="G1831", and went over|strong="G1330" all the country|strong="G5561" of Galatia|strong="G1054" and|strong="G2532" Phrygia|strong="G5435" in order|strong="G2517", strengthening|strong="G1991" all|strong="G3956" the disciples|strong="G3101".

And|strong="G1161" a certain|strong="G5100" Jew|strong="G2453" named|strong="G3686" Apollos|strong="G0625", born|strong="G1085" at Alexandria|strong="G0221", an eloquent|strong="G3052" man|strong="G0435", and mighty|strong="G1415" in|strong="G1722" the scriptures|strong="G1124", came|strong="G2658" to|strong="G1519" Ephesus|strong="G2181".

This man|strong="G3778" was|strong="G2258" instructed|strong="G2727" in the way|strong="G3598" of the Lord|strong="G2962"; and|strong="G2532" being fervent|strong="G2204" in the spirit|strong="G4151", he spake|strong="G2980" and|strong="G2532" taught|strong="G1321" diligently|strong="G0199" the things|strong="G3588" of|strong="G4012" the Lord|strong="G2962", knowing|strong="G1987" only|strong="G3440" the baptism|strong="G0908" of John|strong="G2491".

And|strong="G5037" he|strong="G3778" began|strong="G0756" to speak boldly|strong="G3955" in|strong="G1722" the synagogue|strong="G4864": whom|strong="G0846" when|strong="G0191" Aquila|strong="G0207" and|strong="G2532" Priscilla|strong="G4252" had heard|strong="G0191", they took|strong="G4355" him|strong="G0846" unto|strong="G4355" them, and|strong="G2532" expounded|strong="G1620" unto him|strong="G0846" the way|strong="G3598" of God|strong="G2316" more perfectly|strong="G0199".

And|strong="G1161" when he|strong="G0846" was disposed|strong="G1014" to pass|strong="G1330" into|strong="G1519" Achaia|strong="G0882", the brethren|strong="G0080" wrote|strong="G1125", exhorting|strong="G4389" the disciples|strong="G3101" to receive|strong="G0588" him|strong="G0846": who|strong="G3739", when he was come|strong="G3854", helped them|strong="G4820" much|strong="G4183" which|strong="G3588" had believed|strong="G4100" through|strong="G1223" grace|strong="G5485":

For|strong="G1063" he mightily|strong="G2159" convinced|strong="G1246" the Jews|strong="G2453", and that publickly|strong="G1219", shewing|strong="G1925" by|strong="G1223" the scriptures|strong="G1124" that|strong="G1925" Jesus|strong="G2424" was|strong="G1511" Christ|strong="G5547".
