2 He said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", Have|strong="G1487" ye received|strong="G2983" the Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" since ye believed|strong="G4100"? And|strong="G1161" they said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", We have|strong="G0191" not so much as|strong="G3761" heard|strong="G0191" whether|strong="G1487" there be|strong="G2076" any Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151".
3 And|strong="G5037" he said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", Unto|strong="G1519" what|strong="G5101" then|strong="G3767" were ye baptized|strong="G0907"? And|strong="G1161" they said|strong="G2036", Unto|strong="G1519" John’s|strong="G2491" baptism|strong="G0908".
4 Then|strong="G1161" said|strong="G2036" Paul|strong="G3972", John|strong="G2491" verily|strong="G3303" baptized|strong="G0907" with the baptism|strong="G0908" of repentance|strong="G3341", saying|strong="G3004" unto the people|strong="G2992", that|strong="G2443" they should believe|strong="G4100" on|strong="G1519" him which|strong="G3588" should come|strong="G2064" after|strong="G3326" him|strong="G0846", that|strong="G5124" is|strong="G2076", on|strong="G1519" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424".
5 When|strong="G1161" they heard|strong="G0191" this, they were baptized|strong="G0907" in|strong="G1519" the name|strong="G3686" of the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424".
6 And|strong="G2532" when Paul|strong="G3972" had laid|strong="G2007" his hands|strong="G5495" upon them|strong="G0846", the Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" came|strong="G2064" on|strong="G1909" them|strong="G0846"; and|strong="G5037" they spake|strong="G2980" with tongues|strong="G1100", and|strong="G2532" prophesied|strong="G4395".
7 And|strong="G1161" all|strong="G3956" the men|strong="G0435" were|strong="G2258" about|strong="G5616" twelve|strong="G1177".
8 And|strong="G1161" he went|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" the synagogue|strong="G4864", and spake boldly|strong="G3955" for the space of|strong="G1909" three|strong="G5140" months|strong="G3376", disputing|strong="G1256" and|strong="G2532" persuading|strong="G3982" the things|strong="G3588" concerning|strong="G4012" the kingdom|strong="G0932" of God|strong="G2316".
9 But|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" divers|strong="G5100" were hardened|strong="G4645", and|strong="G2532" believed not|strong="G0544", but spake evil|strong="G2551" of that way|strong="G3598" before|strong="G1799" the multitude|strong="G4128", he departed|strong="G0868" from|strong="G0575" them|strong="G0846", and separated|strong="G0873" the disciples|strong="G3101", disputing|strong="G1256" daily|strong="G2250" in|strong="G1722" the school|strong="G4981" of one|strong="G5100" Tyrannus|strong="G5181".
10 And|strong="G1161" this|strong="G5124" continued|strong="G1096" by the space of|strong="G1909" two|strong="G1417" years|strong="G2094"; so that|strong="G5620" all|strong="G3956" they|strong="G3588" which dwelt|strong="G2730" in Asia|strong="G0773" heard|strong="G0191" the word|strong="G3056" of the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424", both|strong="G5037" Jews|strong="G2453" and|strong="G2532" Greeks|strong="G1672".
11 And|strong="G5037" God|strong="G2316" wrought|strong="G4160" special|strong="G5177" miracles|strong="G1411" by|strong="G1223" the hands|strong="G5495" of Paul|strong="G3972":
12 So that|strong="G5620" from|strong="G0575" his|strong="G0846" body|strong="G5559" were brought|strong="G2018" unto|strong="G1909" the sick|strong="G0770" handkerchiefs|strong="G4676" or|strong="G2228" aprons|strong="G4612", and|strong="G2532" the diseases|strong="G3554" departed|strong="G0525" from|strong="G0575" them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G5037" the evil|strong="G4190" spirits|strong="G4151" went out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G0575" them|strong="G0846".
13 Then|strong="G1161" certain|strong="G5100" of|strong="G0575" the vagabond|strong="G4022" Jews|strong="G2453", exorcists|strong="G1845", took upon them|strong="G2021" to call|strong="G3687" over|strong="G1909" them|strong="G3588" which had|strong="G2192" evil|strong="G4190" spirits|strong="G4151" the name|strong="G3686" of the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424", saying|strong="G3004", We adjure|strong="G3726" you|strong="G5209" by Jesus|strong="G2424" whom|strong="G3739" Paul|strong="G3972" preacheth|strong="G2784".
14 And|strong="G1161" there were|strong="G2258" seven|strong="G2033" sons|strong="G5207" of|strong="G4630" one Sceva|strong="G4630", a Jew|strong="G2453", and chief of the priests|strong="G0749", which did|strong="G4160" so|strong="G5124".
15 And|strong="G1161" the evil|strong="G4190" spirit|strong="G4151" answered|strong="G0611" and said|strong="G2036", Jesus|strong="G2424" I know|strong="G1097", and|strong="G2532" Paul|strong="G3972" I know|strong="G1987"; but|strong="G1161" who|strong="G5101" are|strong="G2075" ye|strong="G5210"?
16 And|strong="G2532" the man|strong="G0444" in|strong="G1722" whom|strong="G3739" the evil|strong="G4190" spirit|strong="G4151" was|strong="G2258" leaped|strong="G2177" on|strong="G1909" them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" overcame|strong="G2634" them|strong="G0846", and prevailed|strong="G2480" against|strong="G2596" them|strong="G0846", so that|strong="G5620" they fled|strong="G1628" out of|strong="G1537" that|strong="G1565" house|strong="G3624" naked|strong="G1131" and|strong="G2532" wounded|strong="G5135".
17 And|strong="G1161" this|strong="G5124" was|strong="G1096" known|strong="G1110" to all|strong="G3956" the Jews|strong="G2453" and|strong="G2532" Greeks|strong="G1672" also|strong="G5037" dwelling|strong="G2730" at Ephesus|strong="G2181"; and|strong="G2532" fear|strong="G5401" fell|strong="G1968" on|strong="G1909" them|strong="G0846" all|strong="G3956", and|strong="G2532" the name|strong="G3686" of the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" was magnified|strong="G3170".
18 And|strong="G5037" many|strong="G4183" that|strong="G3588" believed|strong="G4100" came|strong="G2064", and|strong="G2532" confessed|strong="G1843", and shewed|strong="G0312" their|strong="G0846" deeds|strong="G4234".
19 Many|strong="G2425" of them|strong="G3588" also which used|strong="G4238" curious arts|strong="G4021" brought their|strong="G4851" books|strong="G0976" together|strong="G4851", and burned them|strong="G2618" before|strong="G1799" all|strong="G3956" men: and|strong="G2532" they counted|strong="G4860" the price|strong="G5092" of them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2147" it fifty|strong="G4002" thousand|strong="G3461" pieces of silver|strong="G0694".
20 So|strong="G3779" mightily|strong="G2904" grew|strong="G0837" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2962" and|strong="G2532" prevailed|strong="G2480".
21 After|strong="G5613" these things|strong="G5023" were ended|strong="G4137", Paul|strong="G3972" purposed|strong="G5087" in|strong="G1722" the spirit|strong="G4151", when he had passed through|strong="G1330" Macedonia|strong="G3109" and|strong="G2532" Achaia|strong="G0882", to go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", saying|strong="G2036", After|strong="G3326" I|strong="G3165" have been|strong="G1096" there|strong="G1563", I|strong="G3165" must|strong="G1163" also|strong="G2532" see|strong="G1492" Rome|strong="G4516".
22 So|strong="G1161" he sent|strong="G0649" into|strong="G1519" Macedonia|strong="G3109" two|strong="G1417" of them|strong="G3588" that ministered|strong="G1247" unto him|strong="G0846", Timotheus|strong="G5095" and|strong="G2532" Erastus|strong="G2037"; but he|strong="G1907" himself|strong="G0846" stayed|strong="G1907" in|strong="G1519" Asia|strong="G0773" for a season|strong="G5550".
23 And|strong="G1161" the same|strong="G1565" time|strong="G2540" there arose|strong="G1096" no|strong="G3756" small|strong="G3641" stir|strong="G5017" about|strong="G4012" that way|strong="G3598".
24 For|strong="G1063" a certain|strong="G5100" man named|strong="G3686" Demetrius|strong="G1216", a silversmith|strong="G0695", which made|strong="G4160" silver|strong="G0693" shrines|strong="G3485" for Diana|strong="G0735", brought|strong="G3930" no|strong="G3756" small|strong="G3641" gain|strong="G2039" unto the craftsmen|strong="G5079";
25 Whom|strong="G3739" he called together|strong="G4867" with|strong="G2532" the workmen|strong="G2040" of|strong="G4012" like occupation|strong="G5108", and said|strong="G2036", Sirs|strong="G0435", ye know|strong="G1987" that|strong="G3754" by|strong="G1537" this|strong="G3778" craft|strong="G2039" we have|strong="G2076" our|strong="G2257" wealth|strong="G2142".
26 Moreover|strong="G2532" ye see|strong="G2334" and|strong="G2532" hear|strong="G0191", that|strong="G3754" not|strong="G3756" alone|strong="G3440" at Ephesus|strong="G2181", but|strong="G0235" almost|strong="G4975" throughout|strong="G1223" all|strong="G3956" Asia|strong="G0773", this|strong="G3778" Paul|strong="G3972" hath persuaded|strong="G3982" and turned away|strong="G3179" much|strong="G2425" people|strong="G3793", saying|strong="G3004" that|strong="G3754" they be|strong="G1526" no|strong="G3756" gods|strong="G2316", which|strong="G3588" are made|strong="G1096" with hands|strong="G5495":
27 So that|strong="G1161" not|strong="G3756" only|strong="G3440" this|strong="G5124" our|strong="G2254" craft|strong="G3313" is in danger|strong="G2793" to|strong="G1519" be set|strong="G2064" at nought|strong="G0557"; but|strong="G0235" also|strong="G2532" that the|strong="G3588" temple|strong="G2411" of the great|strong="G3173" goddess|strong="G2299" Diana|strong="G0735" should be|strong="G3195" despised|strong="G3049", and|strong="G2532" her|strong="G0846" magnificence|strong="G3168" should be destroyed|strong="G2507", whom|strong="G3739" all|strong="G3650" Asia|strong="G0773" and|strong="G2532" the world|strong="G3625" worshippeth|strong="G4576".
28 And|strong="G1161" when they heard|strong="G0191" these sayings, they were|strong="G1096" full|strong="G4134" of wrath|strong="G2372", and|strong="G2532" cried out|strong="G2896", saying|strong="G3004", Great|strong="G3173" is Diana|strong="G0735" of the Ephesians|strong="G2180".
29 And|strong="G2532" the whole|strong="G3650" city|strong="G4172" was filled|strong="G4130" with confusion|strong="G4799": and|strong="G5037" having caught|strong="G4884" Gaius|strong="G1050" and|strong="G2532" Aristarchus|strong="G0708", men of Macedonia|strong="G3110", Paul’s|strong="G3972" companions in travel|strong="G4898", they rushed|strong="G3729" with one accord|strong="G3661" into|strong="G1519" the theatre|strong="G2302".
30 And|strong="G1161" when Paul|strong="G3972" would|strong="G1014" have entered in|strong="G1525" unto|strong="G1519" the people|strong="G1218", the disciples|strong="G3101" suffered|strong="G1439" him|strong="G0846" not|strong="G3756".
31 And|strong="G1161" certain|strong="G5100" of the chief of Asia|strong="G0775", which were|strong="G5607" his|strong="G0846" friends|strong="G5384", sent|strong="G3992" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", desiring|strong="G3870" him that he would|strong="G1325" not|strong="G3361" adventure himself|strong="G1438" into|strong="G1519" the theatre|strong="G2302".
32 Some|strong="G0243" therefore|strong="G3767" cried one thing|strong="G2896", and|strong="G3303" some|strong="G0243" another|strong="G5100": for|strong="G1063" the assembly|strong="G1577" was|strong="G2258" confused|strong="G4797"; and|strong="G2532" the more part|strong="G4119" knew|strong="G1492" not|strong="G3756" wherefore|strong="G1752" they were come together|strong="G4905".
33 And|strong="G1161" they drew|strong="G4264" Alexander|strong="G0223" out of|strong="G1537" the multitude|strong="G3793", the Jews|strong="G2453" putting|strong="G4261" him|strong="G0846" forward|strong="G4261". And|strong="G1161" Alexander|strong="G0223" beckoned|strong="G2678" with the hand|strong="G5495", and would have|strong="G2309" made his defence|strong="G0626" unto the people|strong="G1218".
34 But|strong="G1161" when they knew|strong="G1921" that|strong="G3754" he was|strong="G2076" a Jew|strong="G2453", all|strong="G3956" with|strong="G1096" one|strong="G1520" voice|strong="G5456" about the space|strong="G5613" of|strong="G1909" two|strong="G1417" hours|strong="G5610" cried out|strong="G2896", Great|strong="G3173" is Diana|strong="G0735" of the Ephesians|strong="G2180".
35 And|strong="G1161" when the townclerk|strong="G1122" had appeased|strong="G2687" the people|strong="G3793", he said|strong="G5346", Ye men|strong="G0435" of Ephesus|strong="G2180", what|strong="G5101" man|strong="G0444" is there|strong="G2076" that|strong="G3739" knoweth|strong="G1097" not|strong="G3756" how that the city|strong="G4172" of the Ephesians|strong="G2180" is|strong="G5607" a worshipper|strong="G3511" of the great|strong="G3173" goddess|strong="G2299" Diana|strong="G0735", and|strong="G2532" of the|strong="G1356" image which fell down from Jupiter|strong="G1356"?
36 Seeing|strong="G5607" then that|strong="G3767" these things|strong="G5130" cannot be spoken against|strong="G0368", ye|strong="G5209" ought|strong="G1163" to be|strong="G5225" quiet|strong="G2687", and|strong="G2532" to do|strong="G4238" nothing|strong="G3367" rashly|strong="G4312".
37 For|strong="G1063" ye have brought hither|strong="G0071" these|strong="G5128" men|strong="G0435", which are|strong="G3588" neither|strong="G3777" robbers of churches|strong="G2417", nor yet|strong="G3777" blasphemers|strong="G0987" of your|strong="G5216" goddess|strong="G2299".
38 Wherefore|strong="G3767" if|strong="G1487" Demetrius|strong="G1216", and|strong="G2532" the craftsmen|strong="G5079" which are|strong="G3588" with|strong="G4862" him|strong="G0846", have|strong="G2192" a matter|strong="G3056" against|strong="G4314" any man|strong="G5100", the law|strong="G0060" is open|strong="G0071", and|strong="G2532" there are|strong="G1526" deputies|strong="G0446": let them implead|strong="G1458" one another|strong="G0240".
39 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" ye enquire|strong="G1934" any thing|strong="G5100" concerning|strong="G4012" other matters|strong="G2087", it shall be determined|strong="G1956" in|strong="G1722" a lawful|strong="G1772" assembly|strong="G1577".
40 For|strong="G1063" we are in danger|strong="G2793" to be called in question|strong="G1458" for|strong="G4012" this day’s|strong="G4594" uproar|strong="G4714", there being|strong="G5225" no|strong="G3367" cause whereby|strong="G0159" we may|strong="G1410" give|strong="G0591" an account|strong="G3056" of|strong="G4012" this|strong="G3778" concourse|strong="G4963".
41 And|strong="G2532" when he had|strong="G2036" thus|strong="G5023" spoken|strong="G2036", he dismissed|strong="G0630" the assembly|strong="G1577".
