1 Havia então na Igreja de Antioquia profetas e doutores, entre eles Barnabé, Simão, apelidado o Negro, Lúcio de Cirene, Manaém, companheiro de infância do tetrarca Herodes, e Saulo.

2 Enquanto celebravam o culto do Senhor, depois de terem jejuado, disse-lhes o Espírito Santo: Separai-me Barnabé e Saulo para a obra a que os tenho destinado.

3 Então, jejuando e orando, impuseram-lhes as mãos e os despediram.

4 Enviados assim pelo Espírito Santo, foram a Selêucia e dali navegaram para a ilha de Chipre.

5 Chegados a Salamina, pregavam a palavra de Deus nas sinagogas dos judeus. Tinham com eles João para auxiliá-los.

6 Percorreram toda a ilha até Pafos e acharam um judeu chamado Barjesus, mago e falso profeta,
7 Which|strong="G3739" was|strong="G2258" with|strong="G4862" the deputy of the country|strong="G0446", Sergius|strong="G4588" Paulus|strong="G3972", a prudent|strong="G4908" man|strong="G0435"; who|strong="G3778" called for|strong="G4341" Barnabas|strong="G0921" and|strong="G2532" Saul|strong="G4569", and desired|strong="G1934" to hear|strong="G0191" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316".
7 que vivia na companhia do procônsul Sérgio Paulo, homem sensato. Este chamou Barnabé e Saulo, e exprimiu-lhes o desejo de ouvir a palavra de Deus.

8 Mas Élimas, o Mago - pois assim é interpretado o seu nome -, se lhes opunha, procurando desviar da fé o procônsul.

9 Então Saulo, chamado também Paulo, cheio do Espírito Santo, cravou nele os olhos e disse-lhe:
10 And said|strong="G2036", O|strong="G5599" full|strong="G4134" of all|strong="G3956" subtilty|strong="G1388" and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" mischief|strong="G4468", thou child|strong="G5207" of the devil|strong="G1228", thou enemy|strong="G2190" of all|strong="G3956" righteousness|strong="G1343", wilt thou|strong="G3973" not|strong="G3756" cease|strong="G3973" to pervert|strong="G1294" the right|strong="G2117" ways|strong="G3598" of the Lord|strong="G2962"?
10 Filho do demônio, cheio de todo engano e de toda astúcia, inimigo de toda justiça, não cessas de perverter os caminhos retos do Senhor!
11 And|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568", behold|strong="G2400", the hand|strong="G5495" of the Lord|strong="G2962" is upon|strong="G1909" thee|strong="G4571", and|strong="G2532" thou shalt be|strong="G2071" blind|strong="G5185", not|strong="G3361" seeing|strong="G0991" the sun|strong="G2246" for|strong="G0891" a season|strong="G2540". And|strong="G1161" immediately|strong="G3916" there fell|strong="G1968" on|strong="G1909" him|strong="G0846" a mist|strong="G0887" and|strong="G2532" a darkness|strong="G4655"; and|strong="G2532" he went about|strong="G4013" seeking|strong="G2212" some to lead him by the hand|strong="G5497".
11 Eis que agora está sobre ti a mão do Senhor e ficarás cego. Não verás o sol até nova ordem! Caíram logo sobre ele a escuridão e as trevas, e, andando à roda, buscava quem lhe desse a mão.
12 Then|strong="G5119" the deputy|strong="G0446", when he saw|strong="G1492" what was done|strong="G1096", believed|strong="G4100", being astonished|strong="G1605" at|strong="G1909" the doctrine|strong="G1322" of the Lord|strong="G2962".
12 À vista deste prodígio, o procônsul abraçou a fé, admirando vivamente a doutrina do Senhor.
13 Now when|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" and his company|strong="G4012" loosed|strong="G0321" from|strong="G0575" Paphos|strong="G3974", they came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" Perga|strong="G4011" in Pamphylia|strong="G3828": and|strong="G1161" John|strong="G2491" departing|strong="G0672" from|strong="G0575" them|strong="G0846" returned|strong="G5290" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2414".
13 Paulo e os seus companheiros navegaram de Pafos e chegaram a Perge, na Panfília, de onde João, apartando-se deles, voltou para Jerusalém.
14 But when|strong="G1161" they|strong="G0846" departed|strong="G1330" from|strong="G0575" Perga|strong="G4011", they came|strong="G3854" to|strong="G1519" Antioch|strong="G0490" in Pisidia|strong="G4099", and|strong="G2532" went|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" the synagogue|strong="G4864" on the sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G2250", and sat down|strong="G2523".
14 Mas eles, deixando Perge, foram para Antioquia da Pisídia. Ali entraram em dia de sábado na sinagoga, e sentaram-se.
15 And|strong="G1161" after|strong="G3326" the reading|strong="G0320" of the law|strong="G3551" and|strong="G2532" the prophets|strong="G4396" the rulers of the synagogue|strong="G0752" sent|strong="G0649" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", saying|strong="G3004", Ye men|strong="G0435" and brethren|strong="G0080", if|strong="G1487" ye have|strong="G2076" any word|strong="G3056" of exhortation|strong="G3874" for|strong="G4314" the people|strong="G2992", say on|strong="G3004".
15 Depois da leitura da lei e dos profetas, mandaram-lhes dizer os chefes da sinagoga: Irmãos, se tendes alguma palavra de exortação ao povo, falai-a.
16 Then|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" stood up|strong="G0450", and|strong="G2532" beckoning with|strong="G2678" his hand|strong="G5495" said|strong="G2036", Men|strong="G0435" of Israel|strong="G2475", and|strong="G2532" ye that fear|strong="G5399" God|strong="G2316", give audience|strong="G0191".
16 Paulo levantou-se, fez um sinal com a mão e falou: Homens de Israel e vós que temeis a Deus, ouvi.
17 The God|strong="G2316" of this|strong="G5127" people|strong="G2992" of Israel|strong="G2474" chose|strong="G1586" our|strong="G2257" fathers|strong="G3962", and|strong="G2532" exalted|strong="G5312" the people|strong="G2992" when|strong="G1722" they dwelt as strangers|strong="G3940" in|strong="G1722" the land|strong="G1093" of Egypt|strong="G0125", and|strong="G2532" with|strong="G3326" an high|strong="G5308" arm|strong="G1023" brought he|strong="G1806" them|strong="G0846" out|strong="G1537" of it|strong="G0846".
17 O Deus do povo de Israel escolheu nossos pais e exaltou este povo no tempo em que habitava na terra do Egito, de onde os tirou com o poder de seu braço.
18 And|strong="G2532" about|strong="G5613" the time|strong="G5550" of forty years|strong="G5063" suffered he|strong="G5159" their manners|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" the wilderness|strong="G2048".
18 Por espaço de quarenta anos alimentou-os no deserto.
19 And|strong="G2532" when he had destroyed|strong="G2507" seven|strong="G2033" nations|strong="G1484" in|strong="G1722" the land|strong="G1093" of Chanaan|strong="G5477", he divided|strong="G2624" their|strong="G0846" land|strong="G1093" to them|strong="G0846" by lot|strong="G2624".
19 Destruiu sete nações na terra de Canaã e distribuiu-lhes por sorte aquela terra durante quase quatrocentos e cinqüenta anos.
20 And|strong="G2532" after|strong="G3326" that|strong="G5023" he gave|strong="G1325" unto them judges|strong="G2923" about the space of|strong="G5613" four hundred|strong="G5071" and|strong="G2532" fifty|strong="G4004" years|strong="G2094", until|strong="G2193" Samuel|strong="G4545" the prophet|strong="G4396".
20 Em seguida, lhes deu juízes até o profeta Samuel.
21 And afterward|strong="G2547" they desired|strong="G0154" a king|strong="G0935": and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" gave|strong="G1325" unto them|strong="G0846" Saul|strong="G4549" the son|strong="G5207" of Cis|strong="G2797", a man|strong="G0435" of|strong="G1537" the tribe|strong="G5443" of Benjamin|strong="G0958", by the space of forty|strong="G5062" years|strong="G2094".
21 Pediram então um rei, e Deus lhes deu, por quarenta anos, Saul, filho de Cis, da tribo de Benjamim.
22 And|strong="G2532" when he had removed|strong="G3179" him|strong="G0846", he raised up|strong="G1453" unto them|strong="G0846" David|strong="G1138" to be|strong="G1519" their king|strong="G0935"; to whom|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" he gave testimony|strong="G3140", and said|strong="G2036", I have found|strong="G2147" David|strong="G1138" the|strong="G3588" son of Jesse|strong="G2421", a man|strong="G0435" after|strong="G2596" mine own|strong="G3450" heart|strong="G2588", which|strong="G3739" shall fulfil|strong="G4160" all|strong="G3956" my|strong="G3450" will|strong="G2307".
22 Depois, Deus o rejeitou e mandou-lhes Davi como rei, de quem deu este testemunho: Achei Davi, filho de Jessé, homem segundo o meu coração, que fará todas as minhas vontades.
23 Of|strong="G0575" this man’s|strong="G5127" seed|strong="G4690" hath|strong="G1453" God|strong="G2316" according to|strong="G2596" his promise|strong="G1860" raised|strong="G1453" unto Israel|strong="G2474" a Saviour|strong="G4990", Jesus|strong="G2424":
23 De sua descendência, conforme a promessa, Deus fez sair para Israel o Salvador Jesus.
24 When|strong="G4296" John|strong="G2491" had first preached|strong="G4296" before|strong="G4253" his|strong="G0846" coming|strong="G1529" the baptism|strong="G0908" of repentance|strong="G3341" to all|strong="G3956" the people|strong="G2992" of Israel|strong="G2474".
24 João tinha pregado, desde antes da sua vinda, o batismo do arrependimento a todo o povo de Israel.
25 And|strong="G1161" as|strong="G5613" John|strong="G2491" fulfilled|strong="G4137" his course|strong="G1408", he said|strong="G3004", Whom|strong="G5101" think ye that|strong="G5282" I|strong="G3165" am|strong="G1511"? I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" he. But|strong="G0235", behold|strong="G2400", there cometh one|strong="G2064" after|strong="G3326" me|strong="G1691", whose|strong="G3739" shoes|strong="G5266" of|strong="G4228" his feet|strong="G4228" I am|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" worthy|strong="G0514" to loose|strong="G3089".
25 Terminando a sua carreira, dizia: Eu não sou aquele que vós pensais, mas após mim virá aquele de quem não sou digno de desatar o calçado.
26 Men|strong="G0435" and brethren|strong="G0080", children|strong="G5207" of the stock|strong="G1085" of Abraham|strong="G0011", and|strong="G2532" whosoever|strong="G3588" among|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5213" feareth|strong="G5399" God|strong="G2316", to you|strong="G5213" is|strong="G0649" the word|strong="G3056" of this|strong="G3778" salvation|strong="G4991" sent|strong="G0649".
26 Irmãos, filhos de Abraão, e os que entre vós temem a Deus: a nós é que foi dirigida a mensagem de salvação.
27 For|strong="G1063" they that dwell|strong="G2730" at|strong="G1722" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", and|strong="G2532" their|strong="G0846" rulers|strong="G0758", because they knew|strong="G0050" him|strong="G5126" not|strong="G0050", nor yet|strong="G2532" the voices|strong="G5456" of the prophets|strong="G4396" which|strong="G3588" are read|strong="G0314" every|strong="G3956" sabbath day|strong="G4521", they have fulfilled|strong="G4137" them in condemning|strong="G2919" him.
27 Com efeito, os habitantes de Jerusalém e os seus magistrados não conheceram Jesus, e, sentenciando-o, cumpriram os oráculos dos profetas, que cada sábado são lidos.
28 And|strong="G2532" though they found|strong="G2147" no|strong="G3367" cause|strong="G0156" of death|strong="G2288" in him, yet desired they|strong="G0154" Pilate|strong="G4091" that he|strong="G0846" should be slain|strong="G0337".
28 Embora não achassem nele culpa alguma de morte, pediram a Pilatos que lhe tirasse a vida.
29 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" they had fulfilled|strong="G5055" all|strong="G0537" that was written|strong="G1125" of|strong="G4012" him|strong="G0846", they took|strong="G2507" him down|strong="G2507" from|strong="G0575" the tree|strong="G3586", and laid|strong="G5087" him in|strong="G1519" a sepulchre|strong="G3419".
29 Depois de realizarem todas as coisas que dele estavam escritas, tirando-o do madeiro, puseram-no num sepulcro.
30 But|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316" raised|strong="G1453" him|strong="G0846" from|strong="G1537" the dead|strong="G3498":
30 Mas Deus o ressuscitou dentre os mortos.
31 And|strong="G3739" he was seen|strong="G3700" many|strong="G4119" days|strong="G2250" of them which came up with|strong="G4872" him|strong="G0846" from|strong="G0575" Galilee|strong="G1056" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", who|strong="G3748" are|strong="G1526" his|strong="G0846" witnesses|strong="G3144" unto|strong="G4314" the people|strong="G2992".
31 Durante muitos dias apareceu àqueles que com ele subiram da Galiléia a Jerusalém, os quais até agora são testemunhas dele junto ao povo.
32 And|strong="G2532" we|strong="G2249" declare|strong="G2097" unto you|strong="G5209" glad tidings|strong="G2097", how that the promise|strong="G1860" which was made|strong="G1096" unto|strong="G4314" the fathers|strong="G3962",
32 Nós vos anunciamos: a promessa feita a nossos pais,
33 God|strong="G2316" hath fulfilled|strong="G1603" the same|strong="G3778" unto us|strong="G2254" their|strong="G0846" children|strong="G5043", in that he hath raised up|strong="G0450" Jesus|strong="G2424" again|strong="G0450"; as|strong="G5613" it is|strong="G1125" also|strong="G2532" written|strong="G1125" in|strong="G1722" the second|strong="G1208" psalm|strong="G5568", Thou|strong="G4771" art|strong="G1488" my|strong="G3450" Son|strong="G5207", this day|strong="G4594" have|strong="G1080" I|strong="G1473" begotten|strong="G1080" thee|strong="G4571".
33 Deus a tem cumprido diante de nós, seus filhos, suscitando Jesus, como também está escrito no Salmo segundo: Tu és meu Filho, eu hoje te gerei {Sl 2,7}.
34 And|strong="G1161" as concerning that|strong="G3754" he raised|strong="G0450" him|strong="G0846" up|strong="G0450" from|strong="G1537" the dead|strong="G3498", now no more|strong="G3371" to|strong="G3195" return|strong="G5290" to|strong="G1519" corruption|strong="G1312", he said|strong="G2046" on this wise|strong="G3779", I will give|strong="G1325" you|strong="G5213" the sure|strong="G4103" mercies|strong="G3741" of David|strong="G1138".
34 Que Deus o ressuscitou dentre os mortos, para nunca mais tornar à corrupção, ele o declarou desta maneira: Eu vos darei as coisas sagradas prometidas a Davi {Is 55,3}.
35 Wherefore|strong="G1352" he saith|strong="G3004" also|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" another|strong="G2087" psalm, Thou shalt|strong="G1325" not|strong="G3756" suffer|strong="G1325" thine|strong="G4675" Holy One|strong="G3741" to see|strong="G1492" corruption|strong="G1312".
35 E diz também noutra passagem: Não permitirás que teu Santo experimente a corrupção {Sl 15,10}.
36 For|strong="G1063" David|strong="G1138", after he had served|strong="G5256" his own|strong="G2398" generation|strong="G1074" by the will|strong="G1012" of God|strong="G2316", fell on sleep|strong="G2837", and|strong="G2532" was laid|strong="G4369" unto|strong="G4314" his|strong="G0846" fathers|strong="G3962", and|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G1492" corruption|strong="G1312":
36 Ora, Davi, depois de ter servido em vida aos desígnios de Deus, morreu. Foi reunido a seus pais e experimentou a corrupção.
37 But|strong="G1161" he, whom|strong="G3739" God|strong="G2316" raised again|strong="G1453", saw|strong="G1492" no|strong="G3756" corruption|strong="G1312".
37 Mas aquele a quem Deus ressuscitou não experimentou a corrupção.
38 Be it|strong="G2077" known|strong="G1110" unto you|strong="G5213" therefore|strong="G3767", men|strong="G0435" and brethren|strong="G0080", that|strong="G3754" through|strong="G1223" this man|strong="G5127" is preached|strong="G2605" unto you|strong="G5213" the forgiveness|strong="G0859" of sins|strong="G0266":
38 Sabei, pois, irmãos, que por ele se vos anuncia a remissão dos pecados.
39 And|strong="G2532" by|strong="G1722" him|strong="G5129" all|strong="G3956" that believe|strong="G4100" are justified|strong="G1344" from|strong="G0575" all things|strong="G3956", from which|strong="G3739" ye could|strong="G1410" not|strong="G3756" be justified|strong="G1344" by|strong="G1722" the law|strong="G3551" of Moses|strong="G3475".
39 Todo aquele que crê é justificado por ele de tudo aquilo que não pôde ser pela Lei de Moisés.
40 Beware|strong="G0991" therefore|strong="G3767", lest|strong="G3361" that come|strong="G1904" upon|strong="G1909" you|strong="G5209", which is spoken of|strong="G2046" in|strong="G1722" the prophets|strong="G4396";
40 Cuidai, pois, que não venha sobre vós o que foi dito pelos profetas:
41 Behold|strong="G1492", ye despisers|strong="G2707", and|strong="G2532" wonder|strong="G2296", and|strong="G2532" perish|strong="G0853": for|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" work|strong="G2038" a work|strong="G2041" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G5216" days|strong="G2250", a work|strong="G2041" which|strong="G3739" ye shall|strong="G4100" in no wise|strong="G3756" believe|strong="G4100", though|strong="G1437" a man|strong="G5100" declare it|strong="G1555" unto you|strong="G5213".
41 Vede, ó desprezadores, pasmai e morrei de espanto. Pois eu vou realizar uma obra em vossos dias, obra a que não creríeis, se alguém vo-la contasse {Hab 1,5}.
42 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G1826" the Jews|strong="G2453" were gone|strong="G1826" out of|strong="G1537" the synagogue|strong="G4864", the Gentiles|strong="G1484" besought|strong="G3870" that these|strong="G5023" words|strong="G4487" might be preached|strong="G2980" to them|strong="G0846" the next|strong="G3342" sabbath|strong="G4521".
42 Ao saírem, rogavam que lhes repetissem essas palavras no sábado seguinte.
43 Now|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3089" the congregation|strong="G4864" was broken up|strong="G3089", many|strong="G4183" of the Jews|strong="G2453" and|strong="G2532" religious|strong="G4576" proselytes|strong="G4339" followed|strong="G0190" Paul|strong="G3972" and|strong="G2532" Barnabas|strong="G0921": who|strong="G3748", speaking|strong="G4354" to them|strong="G0846", persuaded|strong="G3982" them|strong="G0846" to continue in|strong="G1961" the grace|strong="G5485" of God|strong="G2316".
43 Depois que a assembléia terminou, muitos judeus e prosélitos devotos seguiram Paulo e Barnabé, os quais com muitas palavras os exortavam a perseverar na graça de Deus.
44 And|strong="G1161" the next|strong="G2064" sabbath day|strong="G4521" came|strong="G4863" almost|strong="G4975" the whole|strong="G3956" city|strong="G4172" together|strong="G4863" to hear|strong="G0191" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316".
44 No sábado seguinte, afluiu quase toda a cidade para ouvir a palavra de Deus.
45 But|strong="G1161" when|strong="G1492" the Jews|strong="G2453" saw|strong="G1492" the multitudes|strong="G3793", they were filled|strong="G4130" with envy|strong="G2205", and|strong="G2532" spake against|strong="G0483" those things which were spoken|strong="G3004" by|strong="G5259" Paul|strong="G3972", contradicting|strong="G0483" and|strong="G2532" blaspheming|strong="G0987".
45 Os judeus, vendo a multidão, encheram-se de inveja e puseram-se a protestar com injúrias contra o que Paulo falava.

46 Então Paulo e Barnabé disseram-lhes resolutamente: Era a vós que em primeiro lugar se devia anunciar a palavra de Deus. Mas, porque a rejeitais e vos julgais indignos da vida eterna, eis que nos voltamos para os pagãos.

47 Porque o Senhor assim no-lo mandou: Eu te estabeleci para seres luz das nações, e levares a salvação até os confins da terra {Is 49,6}.

50 Mas os judeus instigaram certas mulheres religiosas da aristocracia e os principais da cidade, que excitaram uma perseguição contra Paulo e Barnabé e os expulsaram do seu território.
