2 And|strong="G1161" he killed|strong="G0337" James|strong="G2385" the brother|strong="G0080" of John|strong="G2491" with the sword|strong="G3162".
3 And|strong="G2532" because|strong="G3754" he saw|strong="G1492" it pleased|strong="G0701" the Jews|strong="G2453", he proceeded further|strong="G4369" to take|strong="G4815" Peter|strong="G4074" also|strong="G2532". (Then|strong="G1161" were|strong="G2258" the days|strong="G2250" of unleavened bread|strong="G0106".)
4 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G3739" he had apprehended him|strong="G4084", he put|strong="G5087" him in|strong="G1519" prison|strong="G5438", and delivered|strong="G3860" him to four|strong="G5064" quaternions|strong="G5069" of soldiers|strong="G4757" to keep|strong="G5442" him|strong="G0846"; intending|strong="G1014" after|strong="G3326" Easter|strong="G3957" to bring|strong="G0321" him|strong="G0846" forth|strong="G0321" to the people|strong="G2992".
5 Peter|strong="G4074" therefore|strong="G3767" was kept|strong="G5083" in|strong="G1722" prison|strong="G5438": but|strong="G1161" prayer|strong="G4335" was|strong="G2258" made|strong="G1096" without ceasing|strong="G1618" of|strong="G5259" the church|strong="G1577" unto|strong="G4314" God|strong="G2316" for|strong="G5228" him|strong="G0846".
6 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3753" Herod|strong="G2264" would|strong="G3195" have brought|strong="G4254" him|strong="G0846" forth|strong="G4254", the same|strong="G1565" night|strong="G3571" Peter|strong="G4074" was|strong="G2258" sleeping|strong="G2837" between|strong="G3342" two|strong="G1417" soldiers|strong="G4757", bound|strong="G1210" with two|strong="G1417" chains|strong="G0254": and|strong="G5037" the keepers|strong="G5441" before|strong="G4253" the door|strong="G2374" kept|strong="G5083" the prison|strong="G5438".
7 And|strong="G2532", behold|strong="G2400", the angel|strong="G0032" of the Lord|strong="G2962" came upon|strong="G2186" him, and|strong="G2532" a light|strong="G5457" shined|strong="G2989" in|strong="G1722" the prison|strong="G3612": and|strong="G1161" he smote|strong="G3960" Peter|strong="G4074" on the side|strong="G4125", and raised|strong="G1453" him|strong="G0846" up|strong="G1453", saying|strong="G3004", Arise|strong="G0450" up|strong="G1722" quickly|strong="G5034". And|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" chains|strong="G0254" fell off|strong="G1601" from|strong="G1537" his hands|strong="G5495".
8 And|strong="G5037" the angel|strong="G0032" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", Gird thyself|strong="G4024", and|strong="G2532" bind on|strong="G5265" thy|strong="G4675" sandals|strong="G4547". And|strong="G1161" so|strong="G3779" he did|strong="G4160". And|strong="G2532" he saith|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Cast|strong="G4016" thy|strong="G4675" garment|strong="G2440" about thee|strong="G4016", and|strong="G2532" follow|strong="G0190" me|strong="G3427".
9 And|strong="G2532" he went out|strong="G1831", and followed|strong="G0190" him|strong="G0846"; and|strong="G2532" wist|strong="G1492" not|strong="G3756" that|strong="G3754" it was|strong="G2076" true|strong="G0227" which was done|strong="G1096" by|strong="G1223" the angel|strong="G0032"; but|strong="G1161" thought|strong="G1380" he saw|strong="G0991" a vision|strong="G3705".
10 When|strong="G1161" they were past|strong="G1330" the first|strong="G4413" and|strong="G2532" the second|strong="G1208" ward|strong="G5438", they came|strong="G2064" unto|strong="G1909" the iron|strong="G4603" gate|strong="G4439" that leadeth|strong="G5342" unto|strong="G1519" the city|strong="G4172"; which|strong="G3748" opened|strong="G0455" to them|strong="G0846" of his own accord|strong="G0844": and|strong="G2532" they went out|strong="G1831", and passed on through|strong="G4281" one|strong="G1520" street|strong="G4505"; and|strong="G2532" forthwith|strong="G2112" the angel|strong="G0032" departed|strong="G0868" from|strong="G0575" him|strong="G0846".
11 And when|strong="G2532" Peter|strong="G4074" was come|strong="G1096" to|strong="G1722" himself|strong="G1438", he said|strong="G2036", Now|strong="G3568" I know|strong="G1492" of a surety|strong="G0230", that|strong="G3754" the Lord|strong="G2962" hath sent|strong="G1821" his|strong="G0846" angel|strong="G0032", and|strong="G2532" hath delivered|strong="G1807" me|strong="G3165" out of|strong="G1537" the hand|strong="G5495" of Herod|strong="G2264", and|strong="G2532" from all|strong="G3956" the expectation|strong="G4329" of the people|strong="G2992" of the Jews|strong="G2453".
12 And|strong="G5037" when he had considered|strong="G4894" the thing, he came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1909" the house|strong="G3614" of Mary|strong="G3137" the mother|strong="G3384" of John|strong="G2491", whose surname was|strong="G1941" Mark|strong="G3138"; where|strong="G3757" many|strong="G2425" were|strong="G2258" gathered together|strong="G4867" praying|strong="G4336".
13 And as|strong="G1161" Peter|strong="G4074" knocked|strong="G2925" at the door|strong="G2374" of the gate|strong="G4440", a damsel|strong="G3814" came|strong="G4334" to hearken|strong="G5219", named|strong="G3686" Rhoda|strong="G4498".
14 And|strong="G2532" when she knew|strong="G1921" Peter’s|strong="G4074" voice|strong="G5456", she opened|strong="G0455" not|strong="G3756" the gate|strong="G4440" for|strong="G0575" gladness|strong="G5479", but|strong="G1161" ran in|strong="G1532", and told|strong="G0518" how|strong="G2476" Peter|strong="G4074" stood|strong="G2476" before|strong="G4253" the gate|strong="G4440".
15 And|strong="G1161" they said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" her|strong="G0846", Thou art mad|strong="G3105". But|strong="G1161" she constantly affirmed|strong="G1340" that it was|strong="G2192" even so|strong="G3779". Then|strong="G1161" said they|strong="G3004", It is|strong="G2076" his|strong="G0846" angel|strong="G0032".
16 But|strong="G1161" Peter|strong="G4074" continued|strong="G1961" knocking|strong="G2925": and|strong="G1161" when they had opened|strong="G0455" the door, and saw|strong="G1492" him|strong="G0846", they were astonished|strong="G1839".
17 But|strong="G1161" he, beckoning|strong="G2678" unto them|strong="G0846" with the hand|strong="G5495" to hold their peace|strong="G4601", declared|strong="G1334" unto them|strong="G0846" how|strong="G4459" the Lord|strong="G2962" had brought|strong="G1806" him|strong="G0846" out of|strong="G1537" the prison|strong="G5438". And|strong="G1161" he said|strong="G2036", Go shew|strong="G0518" these things|strong="G5023" unto James|strong="G2385", and|strong="G2532" to the brethren|strong="G0080". And|strong="G2532" he departed|strong="G1831", and went|strong="G4198" into|strong="G1519" another|strong="G2087" place|strong="G5117".
18 Now|strong="G1161" as soon as it was|strong="G1096" day|strong="G2250", there was|strong="G2258" no|strong="G3756" small|strong="G3641" stir|strong="G5017" among|strong="G1722" the soldiers|strong="G4757", what|strong="G5101" was become|strong="G1096" of Peter|strong="G4074".
19 And|strong="G1161" when Herod|strong="G2264" had sought|strong="G1934" for him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" found him|strong="G2147" not|strong="G3361", he examined|strong="G0350" the keepers|strong="G5441", and commanded that|strong="G2753" they should be put to death|strong="G0520". And|strong="G2532" he went down|strong="G2718" from|strong="G0575" Judæa|strong="G2449" to|strong="G1519" Cæsarea|strong="G2542", and|strong="G1304" there abode|strong="G1304".
20 And|strong="G1161" Herod|strong="G2264" was|strong="G2258" highly displeased|strong="G2371" with them of Tyre|strong="G5183" and|strong="G2532" Sidon|strong="G4606": but|strong="G1161" they came|strong="G3918" with one accord|strong="G3661" to|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532", having made|strong="G3982" Blastus|strong="G0986" the king’s|strong="G0935" chamberlain|strong="G2846" their friend|strong="G3982", desired|strong="G0154" peace|strong="G1515"; because|strong="G1223" their|strong="G0846" country|strong="G5561" was nourished|strong="G5142" by|strong="G0575" the king’s|strong="G0937" country.
21 And|strong="G1161" upon a set|strong="G5002" day|strong="G2250" Herod|strong="G2264", arrayed in|strong="G1746" royal|strong="G0937" apparel|strong="G2066", sat|strong="G2523" upon|strong="G1909" his throne|strong="G0968", and made an oration|strong="G1215" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846".
22 And|strong="G1161" the people|strong="G1218" gave a shout|strong="G2019", saying, It is the voice|strong="G5456" of a god|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" of a man|strong="G0444".
23 And|strong="G1161" immediately|strong="G3916" the angel|strong="G0032" of the Lord|strong="G2962" smote|strong="G3960" him|strong="G0846", because|strong="G0473" he gave|strong="G1325" not|strong="G3756" God|strong="G2316" the glory|strong="G1391": and|strong="G2532" he was|strong="G1096" eaten of worms|strong="G4662", and gave up the ghost|strong="G1634".
24 But|strong="G1161" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316" grew|strong="G0837" and|strong="G2532" multiplied|strong="G4129".
25 And|strong="G1161" Barnabas|strong="G0921" and|strong="G2532" Saul|strong="G4569" returned|strong="G5290" from|strong="G1537" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", when they had fulfilled|strong="G4137" their ministry|strong="G1248", and|strong="G2532" took with them|strong="G4838" John|strong="G2491", whose surname was|strong="G1941" Mark|strong="G3138".
