1 No segundo ano do reinado de Dario, rei da Pérsia, no primeiro dia do sexto mês, o Senhor Deus mandou uma mensagem por meio do profeta Ageu. Essa mensagem era para o governador de Judá, Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, e para o Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque.
2 Thus speaketh|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", saying|strong="H0559", This people|strong="H5971" say|strong="H0559", The time|strong="H6256" is not come|strong="H0935", the time|strong="H6256" that the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* house|strong="H1004" should be built|strong="H1129".
2 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso disse o seguinte: — O povo está dizendo que ainda não chegou o tempo de reconstruir o Templo.
3 Then came the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by|strong="H3027" Haggai|strong="H2292" the prophet|strong="H5030", saying|strong="H0559",
3 Por isso, o Senhor falou assim por meio do profeta Ageu:
4 Is it time|strong="H6256" for you, O ye, to dwell|strong="H3427" in your cieled|strong="H5603" houses|strong="H1004", and this house|strong="H1004" lie waste|strong="H2720"?
4 — Povo de Judá, será que fica bem vocês viverem em casas luxuosas enquanto o meu Templo continua destruído?
5 Now therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; Consider|strong="H7760" your ways|strong="H1870".
5 Pensem bem no que tem acontecido com vocês.
6 Ye have sown|strong="H2232" much|strong="H7235", and bring|strong="H0935" in little|strong="H4592"; ye eat|strong="H0398", but ye have not enough|strong="H7654"; ye drink|strong="H8354", but ye are not filled with drink|strong="H7937"; ye clothe|strong="H3847" you, but there is none warm|strong="H2527"; and he that earneth wages|strong="H7936" earneth wages|strong="H7936" to put it into a bag|strong="H6872" with holes|strong="H5344".
6 Vocês semearam muitas sementes, mas colheram pouco; têm comida, mas não é suficiente para matar a fome; têm vinho, mas não dá para ficarem bêbados; têm roupas, porém elas não chegam para os proteger do frio; e o salário que o trabalhador recebe não dá para viver.
7 Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; Consider|strong="H7760" your ways|strong="H1870".
7 Por isso o Senhor Todo-Poderoso diz: — Pensem bem no que tem acontecido com vocês.
8 Go up|strong="H5927" to the mountain|strong="H2022", and bring|strong="H0935" wood|strong="H6086", and build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004"; and I will take pleasure|strong="H7521" in it, and I will be glorified|strong="H3513", saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
8 Agora, vão até as montanhas, tragam madeira e construam de novo o Templo. Eu ficarei muito contente com esse Templo e ali serei adorado e honrado.
9 Ye looked|strong="H6437" for much|strong="H7235", and, lo, it came to little|strong="H4592"; and when ye brought|strong="H0935" it home|strong="H1004", I did blow|strong="H5301" upon it. Why? saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635". Because|strong="H3282" of mine house|strong="H1004" that is waste|strong="H2720", and ye run|strong="H7323" every man|strong="H0376" unto his own house|strong="H1004".
9 — Vocês esperavam colheitas grandes, porém elas foram pequenas. E, quando estavam levando para casa o pouco que colheram, eu soprei tudo para longe. E por que foi que eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, fiz isso? Foi porque vocês só vivem cuidando das suas próprias casas, mas não se importam com a minha Casa, que está destruída.
10 Therefore the heaven|strong="H8064" over you is stayed|strong="H3607" from dew|strong="H2919", and the earth|strong="H0776" is stayed|strong="H3607" from her fruit|strong="H2981".
10 É por isso que não chove e os campos não produzem colheitas.
11 And I called|strong="H7121" for a drought|strong="H2721" upon the land|strong="H0776", and upon the mountains|strong="H2022", and upon the corn|strong="H1715", and upon the new wine|strong="H8492", and upon the oil|strong="H3323", and upon that which the ground|strong="H0127" bringeth forth|strong="H3318", and upon men|strong="H0120", and upon cattle|strong="H0929", and upon all the labour|strong="H3018" of the hands|strong="H3709".
11 Eu fiz com que houvesse seca nos campos e nas montanhas; fiz com que a seca atingisse as plantações de cereais, as parreiras , as oliveiras e todas as outras plantações do país. Ela castigou as pessoas, os animais e todas as plantações.
12 Then Zerubbabel|strong="H2216" the son|strong="H1121" of Shealtiel|strong="H7597", and Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Josedech|strong="H3087", the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548", with all the remnant|strong="H7611" of the people|strong="H5971", obeyed|strong="H8085" the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430", and the words|strong="H1697" of Haggai|strong="H2292" the prophet|strong="H5030", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430" had sent|strong="H7971" him, and the people|strong="H5971" did fear|strong="H3372" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
12 Então Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, e o Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque, e todos os que haviam voltado do cativeiro na Babilônia temeram a Deus e obedeceram à mensagem que o Senhor , o Deus deles, tinha mandado por meio do profeta Ageu.
13 Then spake|strong="H0559" Haggai|strong="H2292" the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* messenger|strong="H4397" in the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* message|strong="H4400" unto the people|strong="H5971", saying|strong="H0559", I am with you, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
13 E assim Ageu, o mensageiro de Deus, falou e entregou ao povo de Judá a seguinte mensagem: — Eu estarei com vocês. Eu, o

14 O Senhor deu coragem e ânimo ao governador de Judá, Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, ao Grande Sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque, e a todos os que haviam voltado do cativeiro na Babilônia. Eles foram e começaram a trabalhar no Templo do seu Deus, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso,
