1 In the seventh|strong="H7637" month, in the one|strong="H0259" and twentieth|strong="H6242" day of the month|strong="H2320", came the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by|strong="H3027" the prophet|strong="H5030" Haggai|strong="H2292", saying|strong="H0559",
2 Speak|strong="H0559" now to Zerubbabel|strong="H2216" the son|strong="H1121" of Shealtiel|strong="H7597", governor|strong="H6346" of Judah|strong="H3063", and to Joshua|strong="H3091" the son|strong="H1121" of Josedech|strong="H3087", the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548", and to the residue|strong="H7611" of the people|strong="H5971", saying|strong="H0559",
3 Who is left|strong="H7604" among you that saw|strong="H7200" this house|strong="H1004" in her first|strong="H7223" glory|strong="H3519"? and how do ye see|strong="H7200" it now? is it not in your eyes|strong="H5869" in comparison|strong="H3644" of it as nothing?
4 Yet now be strong|strong="H2388", O Zerubbabel|strong="H2216", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and be strong|strong="H2388", O Joshua|strong="H3091", son|strong="H1121" of Josedech|strong="H3087", the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548"; and be strong|strong="H2388", all ye people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and work|strong="H6213": for I am with you, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635":
5 According to the word|strong="H1697" that I covenanted|strong="H3772" with you when ye came|strong="H3318" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", so my spirit|strong="H7307" remaineth|strong="H5975" among|strong="H8432" you: fear|strong="H3372" ye not.
6 For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; Yet once|strong="H0259", it is a little while|strong="H4592", and I will shake|strong="H7493" the heavens|strong="H8064", and the earth|strong="H0776", and the sea|strong="H3220", and the dry|strong="H2724" land;
7 And I will shake|strong="H7493" all nations|strong="H1471", and the desire|strong="H2532" of all nations|strong="H1471" shall come|strong="H0935": and I will fill|strong="H4390" this house|strong="H1004" with glory|strong="H3519", saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635".
8 The silver|strong="H3701" is mine, and the gold|strong="H2091" is mine, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635".
9 The glory|strong="H3519" of this latter|strong="H0314" house|strong="H1004" shall be greater than|strong="H1419" of the former|strong="H7223", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635": and in this place|strong="H4725" will I give|strong="H5414" peace|strong="H7965", saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635".
10 In the four|strong="H0702" and twentieth|strong="H6242" day of the ninth|strong="H8671" month, in the second|strong="H8147" year|strong="H8141" of Darius|strong="H1867", came the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* by|strong="H3027" Haggai|strong="H2292" the prophet|strong="H5030", saying|strong="H0559",
11 Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; Ask|strong="H7592" now the priests|strong="H3548" concerning the law|strong="H8451", saying|strong="H0559",
12 If one|strong="H0376" bear|strong="H5375" holy|strong="H6944" flesh|strong="H1320" in the skirt|strong="H3671" of his garment|strong="H0899", and with his skirt|strong="H3671" do touch|strong="H5060" bread|strong="H3899", or pottage|strong="H5138", or wine|strong="H3196", or oil|strong="H8081", or any meat|strong="H3978", shall it be holy|strong="H6942"? And the priests|strong="H3548" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", No.
13 Then said|strong="H0559" Haggai|strong="H2292", If one that is unclean|strong="H2931" by a dead body|strong="H5315" touch|strong="H5060" any of these, shall it be unclean|strong="H2930"? And the priests|strong="H3548" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", It shall be unclean|strong="H2930".
14 Then answered|strong="H6030" Haggai|strong="H2292", and said|strong="H0559", So is this people|strong="H5971", and so is this nation|strong="H1471" before|strong="H6440" me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and so is every work|strong="H4639" of their hands|strong="H3027"; and that which they offer|strong="H7126" there is unclean|strong="H2931".
15 And now, I pray you, consider|strong="H7760" from this day|strong="H3117" and upward|strong="H4605", from before|strong="H2962" a stone|strong="H0068" was laid|strong="H7760" upon a stone|strong="H0068" in the temple|strong="H1964" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*:
16 Since those days were, when one came|strong="H0935" to an heap|strong="H6194" of twenty|strong="H6242" measures, there were but ten|strong="H6235": when one came|strong="H0935" to the pressfat|strong="H3342" for to draw out|strong="H2834" fifty|strong="H2572" vessels out of the press|strong="H6333", there were but twenty|strong="H6242".
17 I smote|strong="H5221" you with blasting|strong="H7711" and with mildew|strong="H3420" and with hail|strong="H1259" in all the labours|strong="H4639" of your hands|strong="H3027"; yet ye turned not to me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
18 Consider|strong="H7760" now from this day|strong="H3117" and upward|strong="H4605", from the four|strong="H0702" and twentieth|strong="H6242" day|strong="H3117" of the ninth|strong="H8671" month, even from the day|strong="H3117" that the foundation|strong="H3245" of the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* temple|strong="H1964" was laid, consider|strong="H7760" it.
19 Is the seed|strong="H2233" yet in the barn|strong="H4035"? yea, as yet the vine|strong="H1612", and the fig tree|strong="H8384", and the pomegranate|strong="H7416", and the olive|strong="H2132" tree|strong="H6086", hath not brought forth|strong="H5375": from this day|strong="H3117" will I bless|strong="H1288" you.
20 And again|strong="H8145" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came unto Haggai|strong="H2292" in the four|strong="H0702" and twentieth|strong="H6242" day of the month|strong="H2320", saying|strong="H0559",
21 Speak|strong="H0559" to Zerubbabel|strong="H2216", governor|strong="H6346" of Judah|strong="H3063", saying|strong="H0559", I will shake|strong="H7493" the heavens|strong="H8064" and the earth|strong="H0776";
22 And I will overthrow|strong="H2015" the throne|strong="H3678" of kingdoms|strong="H4467", and I will destroy|strong="H8045" the strength|strong="H2392" of the kingdoms|strong="H4467" of the heathen|strong="H1471"; and I will overthrow|strong="H2015" the chariots|strong="H4818", and those that ride|strong="H7392" in them; and the horses|strong="H5483" and their riders|strong="H7392" shall come down|strong="H3381", every one|strong="H0376" by the sword|strong="H2719" of his brother|strong="H0251".
23 In that day|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", will I take|strong="H3947" thee, O Zerubbabel|strong="H2216", my servant|strong="H5650", the son|strong="H1121" of Shealtiel|strong="H7597", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and will make|strong="H7760" thee as a signet|strong="H2368": for I have chosen|strong="H0977" thee, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635".
