1 O ancião ao amado Gaio, a quem eu amo em verdade.
2 Beloved|strong="G0027", I wish|strong="G2172" above|strong="G4012" all things|strong="G3956" that|strong="G2137" thou|strong="G4571" mayest prosper|strong="G2137" and|strong="G2532" be in health|strong="G5198", even as|strong="G2531" thy|strong="G4675" soul|strong="G5590" prospereth|strong="G2137".
2 Amado, desejo que te vá bem em todas as coisas, e que tenhas saúde, assim como bem vai à tua alma.
3 For|strong="G1063" I rejoiced|strong="G5463" greatly|strong="G3029", when the brethren|strong="G0080" came|strong="G2064" and|strong="G2532" testified of|strong="G3140" the truth|strong="G0225" that is in thee|strong="G4675", even as|strong="G2531" thou|strong="G4771" walkest|strong="G4043" in|strong="G1722" the truth|strong="G0225".
3 Porque muito me alegrei quando os irmãos vieram e testificaram da tua verdade, como tu andas na verdade.
4 I have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" greater|strong="G3186" joy|strong="G5479" than|strong="G2443" to hear|strong="G0191" that my|strong="G1699" children|strong="G5043" walk|strong="G4043" in|strong="G1722" truth|strong="G0225".
4 Não tenho maior gozo do que este: o de ouvir que os meus filhos andam na verdade.
5 Beloved|strong="G0027", thou doest|strong="G4160" faithfully|strong="G4103" whatsoever|strong="G3739" thou doest|strong="G2038" to|strong="G1519" the brethren|strong="G0080", and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G1519" strangers|strong="G3581";
5 Amado, procedes fielmente em tudo o que fazes para com os irmãos, especialmente para com os estranhos,
6 Which|strong="G3739" have borne witness|strong="G3140" of thy|strong="G4675" charity|strong="G0026" before|strong="G1799" the church|strong="G1577": whom|strong="G3739" if thou bring forward on their journey|strong="G4311" after|strong="G0516" a godly sort|strong="G2316", thou shalt do|strong="G4160" well|strong="G2573":
6 os quais diante da igreja testificaram do teu amor; aos quais, se os encaminhares na sua viagem de um modo digno de Deus, bem farás;
7 Because that|strong="G1063" for|strong="G5228" his|strong="G0846" name’s sake|strong="G3686" they went forth|strong="G1831", taking|strong="G2983" nothing|strong="G3367" of|strong="G0575" the Gentiles|strong="G1484".
7 porque por amor do Nome saíram, sem nada aceitar dos gentios.
8 We|strong="G2249" therefore|strong="G3767" ought|strong="G3784" to receive|strong="G0618" such|strong="G5108", that|strong="G2443" we might be|strong="G1096" fellowhelpers|strong="G4904" to the truth|strong="G0225".
8 Portanto aos tais devemos acolher, para que sejamos cooperadores da verdade.
9 I wrote unto|strong="G1125" the church|strong="G1577": but|strong="G0235" Diotrephes|strong="G1361", who loveth to have the preeminence|strong="G5383" among them|strong="G0846", receiveth|strong="G1926" us|strong="G2248" not|strong="G3756".
9 Escrevi alguma coisa à igreja; mas Diótrefes, que gosta de ter entre eles a primazia, não nos recebe.
10 Wherefore|strong="G5124", if|strong="G1437" I come|strong="G2064", I will remember|strong="G5279" his|strong="G0846" deeds|strong="G2041" which|strong="G3739" he doeth|strong="G4160", prating against|strong="G5396" us|strong="G2248" with|strong="G3056" malicious|strong="G4190" words|strong="G3056": and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3361" content|strong="G0714" therewith|strong="G5125", neither|strong="G3777" doth|strong="G1926" he himself|strong="G0846" receive|strong="G1926" the brethren|strong="G0080", and|strong="G2532" forbiddeth|strong="G2967" them that would|strong="G1014", and|strong="G2532" casteth|strong="G1544" them out of|strong="G1537" the church|strong="G1577".
10 Pelo que, se eu aí for, trarei à memória as obras que ele faz, proferindo contra nós palavras maliciosas; e, não contente com isto, ele não somente deixa de receber os irmãos, mas aos que os querem receber ele proíbe de o fazerem e ainda os exclui da igreja.
11 Beloved|strong="G0027", follow|strong="G3401" not|strong="G3361" that which is|strong="G3588" evil|strong="G2556", but|strong="G0235" that which is|strong="G3588" good|strong="G0018". He|strong="G3588" that doeth good|strong="G0015" is|strong="G2076" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316": but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G3588" that doeth evil|strong="G2554" hath|strong="G3708" not|strong="G3756" seen|strong="G3708" God|strong="G2316".
11 Amado, não imites o mal, mas o bem. Quem faz o bem é de Deus; mas quem faz o mal não tem visto a Deus.
12 Demetrius|strong="G1216" hath good report|strong="G3140" of|strong="G5259" all|strong="G3956" men, and|strong="G2532" of|strong="G5259" the truth|strong="G0225" itself|strong="G0846": yea|strong="G1161", and|strong="G2532" we|strong="G2249" also bear record|strong="G3140"; and|strong="G2532" ye know|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" our|strong="G2257" record|strong="G3141" is|strong="G2076" true|strong="G0227".
12 De Demétrio, porém, todos, e até a própria verdade, dão testemunho; e nós também damos testemunho; e sabes que o nosso testemunho é verdadeiro.
13 I had|strong="G2192" many things|strong="G4183" to write|strong="G1125", but|strong="G0235" I will|strong="G2309" not|strong="G3756" with|strong="G1223" ink|strong="G3188" and|strong="G2532" pen|strong="G2563" write|strong="G1125" unto thee|strong="G4671":
13 Tinha eu muitas coisas que te escrever, mas não o quero fazer com tinta e pena.
14 But|strong="G1161" I trust|strong="G1679" I shall|strong="G1492" shortly|strong="G2112" see|strong="G1492" thee|strong="G4571", and|strong="G2532" we shall speak|strong="G2980" face|strong="G4750" to|strong="G4314" face|strong="G4750".
