2 The Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" by me, and his word|strong="H4405" was in my tongue|strong="H3956".
3 The God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559", the Rock|strong="H6697" of Israel|strong="H3478" spake|strong="H1696" to me, He that ruleth|strong="H4910" over men|strong="H0120" must be just|strong="H6662", ruling|strong="H4910" in the fear|strong="H3374" of God|strong="H0430".
4 And he shall be as the light|strong="H0216" of the morning|strong="H1242", when the sun|strong="H8121" riseth|strong="H2224", even a morning|strong="H1242" without|strong="H3808" clouds|strong="H5645"; as the tender grass|strong="H1877" springing out of the earth|strong="H0776" by clear shining|strong="H5051" after rain|strong="H4306".
5 Although my house|strong="H1004" be not so with God|strong="H0410"; yet he hath made|strong="H7760" with me an everlasting|strong="H5769" covenant|strong="H1285", ordered|strong="H6186" in all things, and sure|strong="H8104": for this is all my salvation|strong="H3468", and all my desire|strong="H2656", although he make it not to grow|strong="H6779".
6 But the sons of Belial|strong="H1100" shall be all of them as thorns|strong="H6975" thrust away|strong="H5074", because they cannot be taken|strong="H3947" with hands|strong="H3027":
7 But the man|strong="H0376" that shall touch|strong="H5060" them must be fenced|strong="H4390" with iron|strong="H1270" and the staff|strong="H6086" of a spear|strong="H2595"; and they shall be utterly|strong="H8313" burned|strong="H8313" with fire|strong="H0784" in the same place|strong="H7675".

10 He arose|strong="H6965", and smote|strong="H5221" the Philistines|strong="H6430" until|strong="H3588" his hand|strong="H3027" was weary|strong="H3021", and his hand|strong="H3027" clave|strong="H1692" unto the sword|strong="H2719": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* wrought|strong="H6213" a great|strong="H1419" victory|strong="H8668" that day|strong="H3117"; and the people|strong="H5971" returned|strong="H7725" after|strong="H0310" him only to spoil|strong="H6584".
11 And after|strong="H0310" him was Shammah|strong="H8048" the son|strong="H1121" of Agee|strong="H0089" the Hararite|strong="H2043". And the Philistines|strong="H6430" were gathered together|strong="H0622" into a troop|strong="H2416", where was a piece|strong="H2513" of ground|strong="H7704" full|strong="H4392" of lentiles|strong="H5742": and the people|strong="H5971" fled|strong="H5127" from|strong="H6440" the Philistines|strong="H6430".
12 But he stood|strong="H3320" in the midst|strong="H8432" of the ground|strong="H2513", and defended|strong="H5337" it, and slew|strong="H5221" the Philistines|strong="H6430": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* wrought|strong="H6213" a great|strong="H1419" victory|strong="H8668".
13 And three|strong="H7969" of the thirty|strong="H7970" chief|strong="H7218" went down|strong="H3381", and came|strong="H0935" to David|strong="H1732" in the harvest time|strong="H7105" unto the cave|strong="H4631" of Adullam|strong="H5725": and the troop|strong="H2416" of the Philistines|strong="H6430" pitched|strong="H2583" in the valley|strong="H6010" of Rephaim|strong="H7497".
14 And David|strong="H1732" was then in an hold|strong="H4686", and the garrison|strong="H4673" of the Philistines|strong="H6430" was then in Beth-lehem|strong="H1035".
15 And David|strong="H1732" longed|strong="H0183", and said|strong="H0559", Oh that one would give me drink|strong="H8248" of the water|strong="H4325" of the well|strong="H0953" of Beth-lehem|strong="H1035", which is by the gate|strong="H8179"!
16 And the three|strong="H7969" mighty men|strong="H1368" brake through|strong="H1234" the host|strong="H4264" of the Philistines|strong="H6430", and drew|strong="H7579" water|strong="H4325" out of the well|strong="H0953" of Beth-lehem|strong="H1035", that was by the gate|strong="H8179", and took|strong="H5375" it, and brought|strong="H0935" it to David|strong="H1732": nevertheless he would|strong="H0014" not drink|strong="H8354" thereof, but poured it out|strong="H5258" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
17 And he said|strong="H0559", Be it far|strong="H2486" from me, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that I should do|strong="H6213" this: is not this the blood|strong="H1818" of the men|strong="H0582" that went|strong="H1980" in jeopardy of their lives|strong="H5315"? therefore he would|strong="H0014" not drink|strong="H8354" it. These things did|strong="H6213" these three|strong="H7969" mighty men|strong="H1368".
18 And Abishai|strong="H0052", the brother|strong="H0251" of Joab|strong="H3097", the son|strong="H1121" of Zeruiah|strong="H6870", was chief|strong="H7218" among three|strong="H7992". And he lifted up|strong="H5782" his spear|strong="H2595" against three|strong="H7969" hundred|strong="H3967", and slew|strong="H2491" them, and had the name|strong="H8034" among three|strong="H7969".
19 Was he not most honourable|strong="H3513" of three|strong="H7969"? therefore he was their captain|strong="H8269": howbeit he attained|strong="H0935" not unto the first three|strong="H7969".

23 He was more honourable|strong="H3513" than the thirty|strong="H7970", but he attained|strong="H0935" not to the first three|strong="H7969". And David|strong="H1732" set|strong="H7760" him over his guard|strong="H4928".
