2 Samuel 22

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 And David|strong="H1732" spake|strong="H1696" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* the words|strong="H1697" of this song|strong="H7892" in the day|strong="H3117" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had delivered|strong="H5337" him out of the hand|strong="H3709" of all his enemies|strong="H0341", and out of the hand|strong="H3709" of Saul|strong="H7586":

2 And he said|strong="H0559", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is my rock|strong="H5553", and my fortress|strong="H4686", and my deliverer|strong="H6403";

3 The God|strong="H0430" of my rock|strong="H6697"; in him will I trust|strong="H2620": he is my shield|strong="H4043", and the horn|strong="H7161" of my salvation|strong="H3468", my high tower|strong="H4869", and my refuge|strong="H4498", my saviour|strong="H3467"; thou savest|strong="H3467" me from violence|strong="H2555".

4 I will call|strong="H7121" on the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, who is worthy to be praised|strong="H1984": so shall I be saved|strong="H3467" from mine enemies|strong="H0341".

5 When the waves|strong="H4867" of death|strong="H4194" compassed|strong="H0661" me, the floods|strong="H5158" of ungodly men|strong="H1100" made me afraid|strong="H1204";

6 The sorrows|strong="H2256" of hell|strong="H7585" compassed me about|strong="H5437"; the snares|strong="H4170" of death|strong="H4194" prevented|strong="H6923" me;

7 In my distress|strong="H6862" I called|strong="H7121" upon the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and cried|strong="H7121" to my God|strong="H0430": and he did hear|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963" out of his temple|strong="H1964", and my cry|strong="H7775" did enter into his ears|strong="H0241".

8 Then the earth|strong="H0776" shook|strong="H1607" and trembled|strong="H7493"; the foundations|strong="H4146" of heaven|strong="H8064" moved|strong="H7264" and shook|strong="H1607", because he was wroth|strong="H2734".

9 There went up|strong="H5927" a smoke|strong="H6227" out of his nostrils|strong="H0639", and fire|strong="H0784" out of his mouth|strong="H6310" devoured|strong="H0398": coals|strong="H1513" were kindled|strong="H1197" by it.

10 He bowed|strong="H5186" the heavens|strong="H8064" also, and came down|strong="H3381"; and darkness|strong="H6205" was under his feet|strong="H7272".

11 And he rode|strong="H7392" upon a cherub|strong="H3742", and did fly|strong="H5774": and he was seen|strong="H7200" upon the wings|strong="H3671" of the wind|strong="H7307".

12 And he made|strong="H7896" darkness|strong="H2822" pavilions|strong="H5521" round about|strong="H5439" him, dark|strong="H2841" waters|strong="H4325", and thick clouds|strong="H5645" of the skies|strong="H7834".

13 Through the brightness|strong="H5051" before him were coals|strong="H1513" of fire|strong="H0784" kindled|strong="H1197".

14 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thundered|strong="H7481" from heaven|strong="H8064", and the most High|strong="H5945" uttered|strong="H5414" his voice|strong="H6963".

15 And he sent out|strong="H7971" arrows|strong="H2671", and scattered|strong="H6327" them; lightning|strong="H1300", and discomfited|strong="H2000" them.

16 And the channels|strong="H0650" of the sea|strong="H3220" appeared|strong="H7200", the foundations|strong="H4146" of the world|strong="H8398" were discovered|strong="H1540", at the rebuking|strong="H1606" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, at the blast|strong="H5397" of the breath|strong="H7307" of his nostrils|strong="H0639".

17 He sent|strong="H7971" from above|strong="H4791", he took|strong="H3947" me; he drew|strong="H4871" me out of many|strong="H7227" waters|strong="H4325";

18 He delivered|strong="H5337" me from my strong|strong="H5794" enemy|strong="H0341", and from them that hated|strong="H8130" me: for they were too strong|strong="H0553" for me.

19 They prevented|strong="H6923" me in the day|strong="H3117" of my calamity|strong="H0343": but the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was my stay|strong="H4937".

20 He brought me forth|strong="H3318" also into a large place|strong="H4800": he delivered|strong="H2502" me, because he delighted|strong="H2654" in me.

21 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* rewarded|strong="H1580" me according to my righteousness|strong="H6666": according to the cleanness|strong="H1252" of my hands|strong="H3027" hath he recompensed|strong="H7725" me.

22 For I have kept|strong="H8104" the ways|strong="H1870" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and have not wickedly departed|strong="H7561" from my God|strong="H0430".

23 For all his judgments|strong="H4941" were before me: and as for his statutes|strong="H2708", I did not depart|strong="H5493" from them.

24 I was also upright|strong="H8549" before him, and have kept|strong="H8104" myself from mine iniquity|strong="H5771".

25 Therefore the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath recompensed|strong="H7725" me according to my righteousness|strong="H6666"; according to my cleanness|strong="H1252" in his eye sight|strong="H5048".

26 With the merciful|strong="H2623" thou wilt shew thyself merciful|strong="H2616", and with the upright|strong="H8549" man|strong="H1368" thou wilt shew thyself upright|strong="H8552".

27 With the pure|strong="H1305" thou wilt shew thyself pure|strong="H1305"; and with the froward|strong="H6141" thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury|strong="H6617".

28 And the afflicted|strong="H6041" people|strong="H5971" thou wilt save|strong="H3467": but thine eyes|strong="H5869" are upon the haughty|strong="H7311", that thou mayest bring them down|strong="H8213".

29 For thou art my lamp|strong="H5216", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will lighten|strong="H5050" my darkness|strong="H2822".

30 For by thee I have run|strong="H7323" through a troop|strong="H1416": by my God|strong="H0430" have I leaped over|strong="H1801" a wall|strong="H7791".

31 As for God|strong="H0410", his way|strong="H1870" is perfect|strong="H8549"; the word|strong="H0565" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is tried|strong="H6884": he is a buckler|strong="H4043" to all them that trust|strong="H2620" in him.

32 For who is God|strong="H0410", save|strong="H1107" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*? and who is a rock|strong="H6697", save|strong="H1107" our God|strong="H0430"?

33 God|strong="H0410" is my strength|strong="H4581" and power|strong="H2428": and he maketh|strong="H5425" my way|strong="H1870" perfect|strong="H8549".

34 He maketh|strong="H7737" my feet|strong="H7272" like|strong="H7737" hinds’|strong="H0355" feet: and setteth|strong="H5975" me upon my high places|strong="H1116".

35 He teacheth|strong="H3925" my hands|strong="H3027" to war|strong="H4421"; so that a bow|strong="H7198" of steel|strong="H5154" is broken|strong="H5181" by mine arms|strong="H2220".

36 Thou hast also given|strong="H5414" me the shield|strong="H4043" of thy salvation|strong="H3468": and thy gentleness|strong="H6031" hath made me great|strong="H7235".

37 Thou hast enlarged|strong="H7337" my steps|strong="H6806" under me; so that my feet|strong="H7166" did not slip|strong="H4571".

38 I have pursued|strong="H7291" mine enemies|strong="H0341", and destroyed|strong="H8045" them; and turned not again|strong="H7725" until I had consumed|strong="H3615" them.

39 And I have consumed|strong="H3615" them, and wounded|strong="H4272" them, that they could not arise|strong="H6965": yea, they are fallen|strong="H5307" under my feet|strong="H7272".

40 For thou hast girded|strong="H0247" me with strength|strong="H2428" to battle|strong="H4421": them that rose up|strong="H6965" against me hast thou subdued|strong="H3766" under me.

41 Thou hast also given|strong="H5414" me the necks|strong="H6203" of mine enemies|strong="H0341", that I might destroy|strong="H6789" them that hate|strong="H8130" me.

42 They looked|strong="H8159", but there was none to save|strong="H3467"; even unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, but he answered|strong="H6030" them not.

43 Then did I beat|strong="H7833" them as small as the dust|strong="H6083" of the earth|strong="H0776", I did stamp|strong="H1854" them as the mire|strong="H2916" of the street|strong="H2351", and did spread them abroad|strong="H7554".

44 Thou also hast delivered|strong="H6403" me from the strivings|strong="H7379" of my people|strong="H5971", thou hast kept|strong="H8104" me to be head|strong="H7218" of the heathen|strong="H1471": a people|strong="H5971" which I knew|strong="H3045" not shall serve|strong="H5647" me.

45 Strangers|strong="H1121" shall submit|strong="H3584" themselves unto me: as soon as they hear|strong="H8085", they shall be obedient|strong="H8085" unto me.

46 Strangers|strong="H1121" shall fade away|strong="H5034", and they shall be afraid|strong="H2296" out of their close places|strong="H4526".

47 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416"; and blessed|strong="H1288" be my rock|strong="H6697"; and exalted|strong="H7311" be the God|strong="H0430" of the rock|strong="H6697" of my salvation|strong="H3468".

48 It is God|strong="H0410" that avengeth|strong="H5414" me, and that bringeth down|strong="H3381" the people|strong="H5971" under me,

49 And that bringeth me forth|strong="H3318" from mine enemies|strong="H0341": thou also hast lifted me up on high|strong="H7311" above them that rose up|strong="H6965" against me: thou hast delivered|strong="H5337" me from the violent|strong="H2555" man|strong="H0376".

50 Therefore I will give thanks|strong="H3034" unto thee, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, among the heathen|strong="H1471", and I will sing praises|strong="H2167" unto thy name|strong="H8034".

51 He is the tower|strong="H4024" of salvation|strong="H3444" for his king|strong="H4428": and sheweth|strong="H6213" mercy|strong="H2617" to his anointed|strong="H4899", unto David|strong="H1732", and to his seed|strong="H2233" for|strong="H5704" evermore|strong="H5769".
