2 Reis 4

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 Now there cried|strong="H6817" a certain|strong="H0259" woman|strong="H0802" of the wives|strong="H0802" of the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" unto Elisha|strong="H0477", saying|strong="H0559", Thy servant|strong="H5650" my husband|strong="H0376" is dead|strong="H4191"; and thou knowest|strong="H3045" that thy servant|strong="H5650" did fear|strong="H3373" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the creditor|strong="H5383" is come|strong="H0935" to take|strong="H3947" unto him my two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H3206" to be bondmen|strong="H5650".

2 And Elisha|strong="H0477" said|strong="H0559" unto her, What shall I do|strong="H6213" for thee? tell|strong="H5046" me, what hast|strong="H3426" thou in the house|strong="H1004"? And she said|strong="H0559", Thine handmaid|strong="H8198" hath not any thing in the house|strong="H1004", save a pot|strong="H0610" of oil|strong="H8081".

3 Then he said|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H3212", borrow|strong="H7592" thee vessels|strong="H3627" abroad|strong="H2351" of all thy neighbours|strong="H7934", even empty|strong="H7386" vessels|strong="H3627"; borrow not a few|strong="H4591".

4 And when thou art come in|strong="H0935", thou shalt shut|strong="H5462" the door|strong="H1817" upon thee and upon thy sons|strong="H1121", and shalt pour out|strong="H3332" into all those vessels|strong="H3627", and thou shalt set aside|strong="H5265" that which is full|strong="H4392".

5 So she went|strong="H3212" from him, and shut|strong="H5462" the door|strong="H1817" upon her and upon|strong="H1157" her sons|strong="H1121", who|strong="H1992" brought|strong="H5066" the vessels to her; and she poured out|strong="H3332".

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels|strong="H3627" were full|strong="H4390", that she said|strong="H0559" unto her son|strong="H1121", Bring|strong="H5066" me yet a vessel|strong="H3627". And he said|strong="H0559" unto her, There is not a vessel|strong="H3627" more. And the oil|strong="H8081" stayed|strong="H5975".

7 Then she came|strong="H0935" and told|strong="H5046" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430". And he said|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H3212", sell|strong="H4376" the oil|strong="H8081", and pay|strong="H7999" thy debt|strong="H5386", and live|strong="H2421" thou and thy children|strong="H1121" of the rest|strong="H3498".

8 And it fell on a day|strong="H3117", that Elisha|strong="H0477" passed|strong="H5674" to Shunem|strong="H7766", where was a great|strong="H1419" woman|strong="H0802"; and she constrained|strong="H2388" him to eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899". And so it was, that as oft|strong="H1767" as he passed by|strong="H5674", he turned|strong="H5493" in thither to eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899".

9 And she said|strong="H0559" unto her husband|strong="H0376", Behold now, I perceive|strong="H3045" that this is an holy|strong="H6918" man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", which passeth|strong="H5674" by us continually|strong="H8548".

10 Let us make|strong="H6213" a little|strong="H6996" chamber|strong="H5944", I pray thee, on the wall|strong="H7023"; and let us set|strong="H7760" for him there a bed|strong="H4296", and a table|strong="H7979", and a stool|strong="H3678", and a candlestick|strong="H4501": and it shall be, when he cometh|strong="H0935" to us, that he shall turn|strong="H5493" in thither.

11 And it fell on a day|strong="H3117", that he came|strong="H0935" thither, and he turned|strong="H5493" into the chamber|strong="H5944", and lay|strong="H7901" there.

12 And he said|strong="H0559" to Gehazi|strong="H1522" his servant|strong="H5288", Call|strong="H7121" this Shunammite|strong="H7767". And when he had called|strong="H7121" her, she stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him.

13 And he said|strong="H0559" unto him, Say|strong="H0559" now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful|strong="H2729" for us with all this care|strong="H2731"; what is to be done|strong="H6213" for thee? wouldest|strong="H3426" thou be spoken|strong="H1696" for to the king|strong="H4428", or to the captain|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H6635"? And she answered|strong="H0559", I dwell|strong="H3427" among|strong="H8432" mine own people|strong="H5971".

14 And he said|strong="H0559", What then is to be done|strong="H6213" for her? And Gehazi|strong="H1522" answered|strong="H0559", Verily|strong="H0061" she hath no child|strong="H1121", and her husband|strong="H0376" is old|strong="H2204".

15 And he said|strong="H0559", Call|strong="H7121" her. And when he had called|strong="H7121" her, she stood|strong="H5975" in the door|strong="H6607".

16 And he said|strong="H0559", About this season|strong="H4150", according to the time|strong="H6256" of life|strong="H2416", thou shalt embrace|strong="H2263" a son|strong="H1121". And she said|strong="H0559", Nay, my lord|strong="H0113", thou man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", do not lie|strong="H3576" unto thine handmaid|strong="H8198".

17 And the woman|strong="H0802" conceived|strong="H2029", and bare|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121" at that season|strong="H4150" that Elisha|strong="H0477" had said|strong="H1696" unto her, according to the time|strong="H6256" of life|strong="H2416".

18 And when the child|strong="H3206" was grown|strong="H1431", it fell on a day|strong="H3117", that he went out|strong="H3318" to his father|strong="H0001" to the reapers|strong="H7114".

19 And he said|strong="H0559" unto his father|strong="H0001", My head|strong="H7218", my head|strong="H7218". And he said|strong="H0559" to a lad|strong="H5288", Carry|strong="H5375" him to his mother|strong="H0517".

20 And when he had taken|strong="H5375" him, and brought|strong="H0935" him to his mother|strong="H0517", he sat|strong="H3427" on her knees|strong="H1290" till noon|strong="H6672", and then died|strong="H4191".

21 And she went up|strong="H5927", and laid|strong="H7901" him on the bed|strong="H4296" of the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", and shut|strong="H5462" the door upon him, and went out|strong="H3318".

22 And she called|strong="H7121" unto her husband|strong="H0376", and said|strong="H0559", Send|strong="H7971" me, I pray thee, one|strong="H0259" of the young men|strong="H5288", and one|strong="H0259" of the asses|strong="H0860", that I may run|strong="H7323" to the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", and come again|strong="H7725".

23 And he said|strong="H0559", Wherefore wilt thou go|strong="H1980" to him to day|strong="H3117"? it is neither new moon|strong="H2320", nor sabbath|strong="H7676". And she said|strong="H0559", It shall be well|strong="H7965".

24 Then she saddled|strong="H2280" an ass|strong="H0860", and said|strong="H0559" to her servant|strong="H5288", Drive|strong="H5090", and go forward|strong="H3212"; slack|strong="H6113" not thy riding|strong="H7392" for me, except I bid|strong="H0559" thee.

25 So she went|strong="H3212" and came|strong="H0935" unto the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" to mount|strong="H2022" Carmel|strong="H3760". And it came to pass, when the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" saw her afar off|strong="H7200", that he said|strong="H0559" to Gehazi|strong="H1522" his servant|strong="H5288", Behold, yonder is that|strong="H1975" Shunammite|strong="H7767":

26 Run|strong="H7323" now, I pray thee, to meet|strong="H7125" her, and say|strong="H0559" unto her, Is it well|strong="H7965" with thee? is it well|strong="H7965" with thy husband|strong="H0376"? is it well|strong="H7965" with the child|strong="H3206"? And she answered|strong="H0559", It is well|strong="H7965".

27 And when she came|strong="H0935" to the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" to the hill|strong="H2022", she caught|strong="H2388" him by the feet|strong="H7272": but Gehazi|strong="H1522" came near|strong="H5066" to thrust her away|strong="H1920". And the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559", Let her alone|strong="H7503"; for her soul|strong="H5315" is vexed|strong="H4843" within her: and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath hid|strong="H5956" it from me, and hath not told|strong="H5046" me.

28 Then she said|strong="H0559", Did I desire|strong="H7592" a son|strong="H1121" of my lord|strong="H0113"? did I not say|strong="H0559", Do not deceive|strong="H7952" me?

29 Then he said|strong="H0559" to Gehazi|strong="H1522", Gird up|strong="H2296" thy loins|strong="H4975", and take|strong="H3947" my staff|strong="H4938" in thine hand|strong="H3027", and go thy way|strong="H3212": if thou meet|strong="H4672" any man|strong="H0376", salute|strong="H1288" him not; and if any|strong="H0376" salute|strong="H1288" thee, answer him not again|strong="H6030": and lay|strong="H7760" my staff|strong="H4938" upon the face|strong="H6440" of the child|strong="H5288".

30 And the mother|strong="H0517" of the child|strong="H5288" said|strong="H0559", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", and as thy soul|strong="H5315" liveth|strong="H2416", I will not leave|strong="H5800" thee. And he arose|strong="H6965", and followed|strong="H3212" her.

31 And Gehazi|strong="H1522" passed on|strong="H5674" before|strong="H6440" them, and laid|strong="H7760" the staff|strong="H4938" upon the face|strong="H6440" of the child|strong="H5288"; but there was neither voice|strong="H6963", nor hearing|strong="H7182". Wherefore he went again|strong="H7725" to meet|strong="H7125" him, and told|strong="H5046" him, saying|strong="H0559", The child|strong="H5288" is not awaked|strong="H6974".

32 And when Elisha|strong="H0477" was come|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004", behold, the child|strong="H5288" was dead|strong="H4191", and laid|strong="H7901" upon his bed|strong="H4296".

33 He went in|strong="H0935" therefore, and shut|strong="H5462" the door|strong="H1817" upon them twain|strong="H8147", and prayed|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

34 And he went up|strong="H5927", and lay|strong="H7901" upon the child|strong="H3206", and put|strong="H7760" his mouth|strong="H6310" upon his mouth|strong="H6310", and his eyes|strong="H5869" upon his eyes|strong="H5869", and his hands|strong="H3709" upon his hands|strong="H3709": and he stretched|strong="H1457" himself upon the child; and the flesh|strong="H1320" of the child|strong="H3206" waxed warm|strong="H2552".

35 Then he returned|strong="H7725", and walked|strong="H3212" in the house|strong="H1004" to|strong="H0259" and fro|strong="H0259"; and went up|strong="H5927", and stretched|strong="H1457" himself upon him: and the child|strong="H5288" sneezed|strong="H2237" seven|strong="H7651" times|strong="H6471", and the child|strong="H5288" opened|strong="H6491" his eyes|strong="H5869".

36 And he called|strong="H7121" Gehazi|strong="H1522", and said|strong="H0559", Call|strong="H7121" this Shunammite|strong="H7767". So he called|strong="H7121" her. And when she was come in|strong="H0935" unto him, he said|strong="H0559", Take up|strong="H5375" thy son|strong="H1121".

37 Then she went in|strong="H0935", and fell|strong="H5307" at his feet|strong="H7272", and bowed|strong="H7812" herself to the ground|strong="H0776", and took up|strong="H5375" her son|strong="H1121", and went out|strong="H3318".

38 And Elisha|strong="H0477" came again|strong="H7725" to Gilgal|strong="H1537": and there was a dearth|strong="H7458" in the land|strong="H0776"; and the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030" were sitting|strong="H3427" before|strong="H6440" him: and he said|strong="H0559" unto his servant|strong="H5288", Set|strong="H8239" on the great|strong="H1419" pot|strong="H5518", and seethe|strong="H1310" pottage|strong="H5138" for the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030".

39 And one|strong="H0259" went out|strong="H3318" into the field|strong="H7704" to gather|strong="H3950" herbs|strong="H0219", and found|strong="H4672" a wild|strong="H7704" vine|strong="H1612", and gathered|strong="H3950" thereof wild|strong="H7704" gourds|strong="H6498" his lap|strong="H0899" full|strong="H4393", and came|strong="H0935" and shred|strong="H6398" them into the pot|strong="H5518" of pottage|strong="H5138": for they knew|strong="H3045" them not.

40 So they poured out|strong="H3332" for the men|strong="H0582" to eat|strong="H0398". And it came to pass, as they were eating|strong="H0398" of the pottage|strong="H5138", that they cried out|strong="H6817", and said|strong="H0559", O thou man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", there is death|strong="H4194" in the pot|strong="H5518". And they could|strong="H3201" not eat|strong="H0398" thereof.

41 But he said|strong="H0559", Then bring|strong="H3947" meal|strong="H7058". And he cast|strong="H7993" it into the pot|strong="H5518"; and he said|strong="H0559", Pour out|strong="H3332" for the people|strong="H5971", that they may eat|strong="H0398". And there was no harm|strong="H1697" in the pot|strong="H5518".

42 And there came|strong="H0935" a man|strong="H0376" from Baal-shalisha|strong="H1190", and brought|strong="H0935" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" bread|strong="H3899" of the firstfruits|strong="H1061", twenty|strong="H6242" loaves|strong="H3899" of barley|strong="H8184", and full ears of corn|strong="H3759" in the husk|strong="H6861" thereof. And he said|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H5414" unto the people|strong="H5971", that they may eat|strong="H0398".

43 And his servitor|strong="H8334" said|strong="H0559", What, should I set|strong="H5414" this before|strong="H6440" an hundred|strong="H3967" men|strong="H0376"? He said again|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H5414" the people|strong="H5971", that they may eat|strong="H0398": for thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, They shall eat|strong="H0398", and shall leave|strong="H3498" thereof.

44 So he set|strong="H5414" it before|strong="H6440" them, and they did eat|strong="H0398", and left|strong="H3498" thereof, according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
