2 Reis 5

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 Now Naaman|strong="H5283", captain|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H6635" of the king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758", was a great|strong="H1419" man|strong="H0376" with|strong="H6440" his master|strong="H0113", and honourable|strong="H5375", because by him the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had given|strong="H5414" deliverance|strong="H8668" unto Syria|strong="H0758": he was also a mighty|strong="H1368" man|strong="H0376" in valour|strong="H2428", but he was a leper|strong="H6879".

2 And the Syrians|strong="H0758" had gone out|strong="H3318" by companies|strong="H1416", and had brought away captive|strong="H7617" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Israel|strong="H3478" a little|strong="H6996" maid|strong="H5291"; and she waited on|strong="H6440" Naaman’s|strong="H5283" wife|strong="H0802".

3 And she said|strong="H0559" unto her mistress|strong="H1404", Would|strong="H0305" God my lord|strong="H0113" were with|strong="H6440" the prophet|strong="H5030" that is in Samaria|strong="H8111"! for|strong="H0227" he would recover|strong="H0622" him of his leprosy|strong="H6883".

4 And one went in|strong="H0935", and told|strong="H5046" his lord|strong="H0113", saying|strong="H0559", Thus and thus said|strong="H1696" the maid|strong="H5291" that is of the land|strong="H0776" of Israel|strong="H3478".

5 And the king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758" said|strong="H0559", Go to|strong="H3212", go|strong="H0935", and I will send|strong="H7971" a letter|strong="H5612" unto the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478". And he departed|strong="H3212", and took|strong="H3947" with him|strong="H3027" ten|strong="H6235" talents|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701", and six|strong="H8337" thousand|strong="H0505" pieces of gold|strong="H2091", and ten|strong="H6235" changes|strong="H2487" of raiment|strong="H0899".

6 And he brought|strong="H0935" the letter|strong="H5612" to the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", Now when this letter|strong="H5612" is come|strong="H0935" unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent|strong="H7971" Naaman|strong="H5283" my servant|strong="H5650" to thee, that thou mayest recover|strong="H0622" him of his leprosy|strong="H6883".

7 And it came to pass, when the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" had read|strong="H7121" the letter|strong="H5612", that he rent|strong="H7167" his clothes|strong="H0899", and said|strong="H0559", Am I God|strong="H0430", to kill|strong="H4191" and to make alive|strong="H2421", that this man|strong="H2088" doth send|strong="H7971" unto me to recover|strong="H0622" a man|strong="H0376" of his leprosy|strong="H6883"? wherefore|strong="H0389" consider|strong="H3045", I pray you, and see|strong="H7200" how he seeketh a quarrel|strong="H0579" against me.

8 And it was so, when Elisha|strong="H0477" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" had heard|strong="H8085" that the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" had rent|strong="H7167" his clothes|strong="H0899", that he sent|strong="H7971" to the king|strong="H4428", saying|strong="H0559", Wherefore hast thou rent|strong="H7167" thy clothes|strong="H0899"? let him come|strong="H0935" now to me, and he shall know|strong="H3045" that there is|strong="H3426" a prophet|strong="H5030" in Israel|strong="H3478".

9 So Naaman|strong="H5283" came|strong="H0935" with his horses|strong="H5483" and with his chariot|strong="H7393", and stood|strong="H5975" at the door|strong="H6607" of the house|strong="H1004" of Elisha|strong="H0477".

10 And Elisha|strong="H0477" sent|strong="H7971" a messenger|strong="H4397" unto him, saying|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H1980" and wash|strong="H7364" in Jordan|strong="H3383" seven|strong="H7651" times|strong="H6471", and thy flesh|strong="H1320" shall come again|strong="H7725" to thee, and thou shalt be clean|strong="H2891".

11 But Naaman|strong="H5283" was wroth|strong="H7107", and went away|strong="H3212", and said|strong="H0559", Behold, I thought|strong="H0559", He will surely|strong="H3318" come out|strong="H3318" to me, and stand|strong="H5975", and call|strong="H7121" on the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* his God|strong="H0430", and strike|strong="H5130" his hand|strong="H3027" over the place|strong="H4725", and recover|strong="H0622" the leper|strong="H6879".

12 Are not Abana|strong="H0071" and Pharpar|strong="H6554", rivers|strong="H5104" of Damascus|strong="H1834", better|strong="H2896" than all the waters|strong="H4325" of Israel|strong="H3478"? may I not wash|strong="H7364" in them, and be clean|strong="H2891"? So he turned|strong="H6437" and went away|strong="H3212" in a rage|strong="H2534".

13 And his servants|strong="H5650" came near|strong="H5066", and spake|strong="H1696" unto him, and said|strong="H0559", My father|strong="H0001", if the prophet|strong="H5030" had bid|strong="H1696" thee do some great|strong="H1419" thing|strong="H1697", wouldest thou not have done|strong="H6213" it? how much rather then|strong="H0637", when he saith|strong="H0559" to thee, Wash|strong="H7364", and be clean|strong="H2891"?

14 Then went he down|strong="H3381", and dipped|strong="H2881" himself seven|strong="H7651" times|strong="H6471" in Jordan|strong="H3383", according to the saying|strong="H1697" of the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430": and his flesh|strong="H1320" came again|strong="H7725" like unto the flesh|strong="H1320" of a little|strong="H6996" child|strong="H5288", and he was clean|strong="H2891".

15 And he returned|strong="H7725" to the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", he and all his company|strong="H4264", and came|strong="H0935", and stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him: and he said|strong="H0559", Behold, now I know|strong="H3045" that there is no God|strong="H0430" in all the earth|strong="H0776", but in Israel|strong="H3478": now therefore, I pray thee, take|strong="H3947" a blessing|strong="H1293" of thy servant|strong="H5650".

16 But he said|strong="H0559", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", before|strong="H6440" whom I stand|strong="H5975", I will receive|strong="H3947" none. And he urged|strong="H6484" him to take|strong="H3947" it; but he refused|strong="H3985".

17 And Naaman|strong="H5283" said|strong="H0559", Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given|strong="H5414" to thy servant|strong="H5650" two|strong="H6776" mules’|strong="H6505" burden|strong="H4853" of earth|strong="H0127"? for thy servant|strong="H5650" will henceforth offer|strong="H6213" neither burnt offering|strong="H5930" nor sacrifice|strong="H2077" unto other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430", but unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

18 In this thing|strong="H1697" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* pardon|strong="H5545" thy servant|strong="H5650", that when my master|strong="H0113" goeth|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of Rimmon|strong="H7417" to worship|strong="H7812" there, and he leaneth|strong="H8172" on my hand|strong="H3027", and I bow|strong="H7812" myself in the house|strong="H1004" of Rimmon|strong="H7417": when I bow down|strong="H7812" myself in the house|strong="H1004" of Rimmon|strong="H7417", the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* pardon|strong="H5545" thy servant|strong="H5650" in this thing|strong="H1697".

19 And he said|strong="H0559" unto him, Go|strong="H3212" in peace|strong="H7965". So he departed|strong="H3212" from him a little|strong="H3530" way|strong="H0776".

20 But Gehazi|strong="H1522", the servant|strong="H5288" of Elisha|strong="H0477" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", said|strong="H0559", Behold, my master|strong="H0113" hath spared|strong="H2820" Naaman|strong="H5283" this Syrian|strong="H0761", in not receiving|strong="H3947" at his hands|strong="H3027" that which he brought|strong="H0935": but, as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", I will run|strong="H7323" after|strong="H0310" him, and take|strong="H3947" somewhat|strong="H3972" of him.

21 So Gehazi|strong="H1522" followed|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" Naaman|strong="H5283". And when Naaman|strong="H5283" saw|strong="H7200" him running|strong="H7323" after|strong="H0310" him, he lighted down|strong="H5307" from the chariot|strong="H4818" to meet|strong="H7125" him, and said|strong="H0559", Is all well|strong="H7965"?

22 And he said|strong="H0559", All is well|strong="H7965". My master|strong="H0113" hath sent|strong="H7971" me, saying|strong="H0559", Behold, even now there be come|strong="H0935" to me from mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669" two|strong="H8147" young men|strong="H5288" of the sons|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030": give|strong="H5414" them, I pray thee, a talent|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701", and two|strong="H8147" changes|strong="H2487" of garments|strong="H0899".

23 And Naaman|strong="H5283" said|strong="H0559", Be content|strong="H2974", take|strong="H3947" two talents|strong="H3603". And he urged|strong="H6555" him, and bound|strong="H6696" two|strong="H8147" talents|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701" in two|strong="H8147" bags|strong="H2754", with two|strong="H8147" changes|strong="H2487" of garments|strong="H0899", and laid|strong="H5414" them upon two|strong="H8147" of his servants|strong="H5288"; and they bare|strong="H5375" them before|strong="H6440" him.

24 And when he came|strong="H0935" to the tower|strong="H6076", he took|strong="H3947" them from their hand|strong="H3027", and bestowed|strong="H6485" them in the house|strong="H1004": and he let the men|strong="H0582" go|strong="H7971", and they departed|strong="H3212".

25 But he went in|strong="H0935", and stood|strong="H5975" before his master|strong="H0113". And Elisha|strong="H0477" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Whence|strong="H0370" comest thou, Gehazi|strong="H1522"? And he said|strong="H0559", Thy servant|strong="H5650" went|strong="H1980" no whither|strong="H0575".

26 And he said|strong="H0559" unto him, Went|strong="H1980" not mine heart|strong="H3820" with thee, when the man|strong="H0376" turned|strong="H2015" again from his chariot|strong="H4818" to meet|strong="H7125" thee? Is it a time|strong="H6256" to receive|strong="H3947" money|strong="H3701", and to receive|strong="H3947" garments|strong="H0899", and oliveyards|strong="H2132", and vineyards|strong="H3754", and sheep|strong="H6629", and oxen|strong="H1241", and menservants|strong="H5650", and maidservants|strong="H8198"?

27 The leprosy|strong="H6883" therefore of Naaman|strong="H5283" shall cleave|strong="H1692" unto thee, and unto thy seed|strong="H2233" for ever|strong="H5769". And he went out|strong="H3318" from his presence|strong="H6440" a leper|strong="H6879" as white as snow|strong="H7950".
