And the king|strong="H4428" sent|strong="H7971", and they gathered|strong="H0622" unto him all the elders|strong="H2205" of Judah|strong="H3063" and of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
And the king|strong="H4428" went up|strong="H5927" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and all the men|strong="H0376" of Judah|strong="H3063" and all the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" with him, and the priests|strong="H3548", and the prophets|strong="H5030", and all the people|strong="H5971", both small|strong="H6996" and great|strong="H1419": and he read|strong="H7121" in their ears|strong="H0241" all the words|strong="H1697" of the book|strong="H5612" of the covenant|strong="H1285" which was found|strong="H4672" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And the king|strong="H4428" stood|strong="H5975" by a pillar|strong="H5982", and made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to walk|strong="H3212" after|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and to keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687" and his testimonies|strong="H5715" and his statutes|strong="H2708" with all their heart|strong="H3820" and all their soul|strong="H5315", to perform|strong="H6965" the words|strong="H1697" of this covenant|strong="H1285" that were written|strong="H3789" in this book|strong="H5612". And all the people|strong="H5971" stood|strong="H5975" to the covenant|strong="H1285".
And the king|strong="H4428" commanded|strong="H6680" Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548", and the priests|strong="H3548" of the second order|strong="H4932", and the keepers|strong="H8104" of the door|strong="H5592", to bring forth|strong="H3318" out of the temple|strong="H1964" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* all the vessels|strong="H3627" that were made|strong="H6213" for Baal|strong="H1168", and for the grove|strong="H0842", and for all the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064": and he burned|strong="H8313" them without|strong="H2351" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" in the fields|strong="H7709" of Kidron|strong="H6939", and carried|strong="H5375" the ashes|strong="H6083" of them unto Beth-el|strong="H1008".
And he put down|strong="H7673" the idolatrous priests|strong="H3649", whom the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" had ordained|strong="H5414" to burn incense|strong="H6999" in the high places|strong="H1116" in the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063", and in the places round about|strong="H4524" Jerusalem|strong="H3389"; them also that burned incense|strong="H6999" unto Baal|strong="H1168", to the sun|strong="H8121", and to the moon|strong="H3394", and to the planets|strong="H4208", and to all the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064".
And he brought out|strong="H3318" the grove|strong="H0842" from the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, without|strong="H2351" Jerusalem|strong="H3389", unto the brook|strong="H5158" Kidron|strong="H6939", and burned|strong="H8313" it at the brook|strong="H5158" Kidron|strong="H6939", and stamped it small|strong="H1854" to powder|strong="H6083", and cast|strong="H7993" the powder|strong="H6083" thereof upon the graves|strong="H6913" of the children|strong="H1121" of the people|strong="H5971".
And he brake down|strong="H5422" the houses|strong="H1004" of the sodomites|strong="H6945", that were by the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, where the women|strong="H0802" wove|strong="H0707" hangings|strong="H1004" for the grove|strong="H0842".
And he brought|strong="H0935" all the priests|strong="H3548" out of the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063", and defiled|strong="H2930" the high places|strong="H1116" where the priests|strong="H3548" had burned incense|strong="H6999", from Geba|strong="H1387" to Beer-sheba|strong="H0884", and brake down|strong="H5422" the high places|strong="H1116" of the gates|strong="H8179" that were in the entering in|strong="H6607" of the gate|strong="H8179" of Joshua|strong="H3091" the governor|strong="H8269" of the city|strong="H5892", which were on a man’s|strong="H0376" left hand|strong="H8040" at the gate|strong="H8179" of the city|strong="H5892".
Nevertheless the priests|strong="H3548" of the high places|strong="H1116" came not up|strong="H5927" to the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", but they did eat|strong="H0398" of the unleavened bread|strong="H4682" among|strong="H8432" their brethren|strong="H0251".
And he defiled|strong="H2930" Topheth|strong="H8612", which is in the valley|strong="H1516" of the children|strong="H1121" of Hinnom|strong="H2011", that no man|strong="H0376" might make his son|strong="H1121" or his daughter|strong="H1323" to pass through|strong="H5674" the fire|strong="H0784" to Molech|strong="H4432".
And he took away|strong="H7673" the horses|strong="H5483" that the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" had given|strong="H5414" to the sun|strong="H8121", at the entering in|strong="H0935" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, by the chamber|strong="H3957" of Nathan-melech|strong="H5419" the chamberlain|strong="H5631", which was in the suburbs|strong="H6503", and burned|strong="H8313" the chariots|strong="H4818" of the sun|strong="H8121" with fire|strong="H0784".
And the altars|strong="H4196" that were on the top|strong="H1406" of the upper chamber|strong="H5944" of Ahaz|strong="H0271", which the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" had made|strong="H6213", and the altars|strong="H4196" which Manasseh|strong="H4519" had made|strong="H6213" in the two|strong="H8147" courts|strong="H2691" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, did the king|strong="H4428" beat down|strong="H5422", and brake them down|strong="H7323" from thence, and cast|strong="H7993" the dust|strong="H6083" of them into the brook|strong="H5158" Kidron|strong="H6939".
And the high places|strong="H1116" that were before|strong="H6440" Jerusalem|strong="H3389", which were on the right hand|strong="H3225" of the mount|strong="H2022" of corruption|strong="H4889", which Solomon|strong="H8010" the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" had builded|strong="H1129" for Ashtoreth|strong="H6253" the abomination|strong="H8251" of the Zidonians|strong="H6722", and for Chemosh|strong="H3645" the abomination|strong="H8251" of the Moabites|strong="H4124", and for Milcom|strong="H4445" the abomination|strong="H8441" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983", did the king|strong="H4428" defile|strong="H2930".
And he brake in pieces|strong="H7665" the images|strong="H4676", and cut down|strong="H3772" the groves|strong="H0842", and filled|strong="H4390" their places|strong="H4725" with the bones|strong="H6106" of men|strong="H0120".
Moreover the altar|strong="H4196" that was at Beth-el|strong="H1008", and the high place|strong="H1116" which Jeroboam|strong="H3379" the son|strong="H1121" of Nebat|strong="H5028", who made Israel|strong="H3478" to sin|strong="H2398", had made|strong="H6213", both that altar|strong="H4196" and the high place|strong="H1116" he brake down|strong="H5422", and burned|strong="H8313" the high place|strong="H1116", and stamped|strong="H1854" it small to powder|strong="H6083", and burned|strong="H8313" the grove|strong="H0842".
And as Josiah|strong="H2977" turned|strong="H6437" himself, he spied|strong="H7200" the sepulchres|strong="H6913" that were there in the mount|strong="H2022", and sent|strong="H7971", and took|strong="H3947" the bones|strong="H6106" out of the sepulchres|strong="H6913", and burned|strong="H8313" them upon the altar|strong="H4196", and polluted|strong="H2930" it, according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* which the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" proclaimed|strong="H7121", who proclaimed|strong="H7121" these words|strong="H1697".
Then he said|strong="H0559", What title|strong="H6725" is that|strong="H1975" that I see|strong="H7200"? And the men|strong="H0582" of the city|strong="H5892" told|strong="H0559" him, It is the sepulchre|strong="H6913" of the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", which came|strong="H0935" from Judah|strong="H3063", and proclaimed|strong="H7121" these things|strong="H1697" that thou hast done|strong="H6213" against the altar|strong="H4196" of Beth-el|strong="H1008".
And he said|strong="H0559", Let him alone|strong="H3240"; let no man|strong="H0376" move|strong="H5128" his bones|strong="H6106". So they let his bones|strong="H6106" alone|strong="H4422", with the bones|strong="H6106" of the prophet|strong="H5030" that came out|strong="H0935" of Samaria|strong="H8111".
And all the houses|strong="H1004" also of the high places|strong="H1116" that were in the cities|strong="H5892" of Samaria|strong="H8111", which the kings|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" had made|strong="H6213" to provoke the \+nd Lord\+nd* to anger|strong="H3707", Josiah|strong="H2977" took away|strong="H5493", and did|strong="H6213" to them according to all the acts|strong="H4639" that he had done|strong="H6213" in Beth-el|strong="H1008".
And he slew|strong="H2076" all the priests|strong="H3548" of the high places|strong="H1116" that were there upon the altars|strong="H4196", and burned|strong="H8313" men’s|strong="H0120" bones|strong="H6106" upon them, and returned|strong="H7725" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
And the king|strong="H4428" commanded|strong="H6680" all the people|strong="H5971", saying|strong="H0559", Keep|strong="H6213" the passover|strong="H6453" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430", as it is written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of this covenant|strong="H1285".
Surely there was not holden|strong="H6213" such a passover|strong="H6453" from the days|strong="H3117" of the judges|strong="H8199" that judged|strong="H8199" Israel|strong="H3478", nor in all the days|strong="H3117" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", nor of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063";
But in the eighteenth|strong="H8083" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Josiah|strong="H2977", wherein this passover|strong="H6453" was holden|strong="H6213" to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits|strong="H0178", and the wizards|strong="H3049", and the images|strong="H8655", and the idols|strong="H1544", and all the abominations|strong="H8251" that were spied|strong="H7200" in the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063" and in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", did Josiah|strong="H2977" put away|strong="H1197", that he might perform|strong="H6965" the words|strong="H1697" of the law|strong="H8451" which were written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" that Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the priest|strong="H3548" found|strong="H4672" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And like unto him was there no king|strong="H4428" before|strong="H6440" him, that turned|strong="H7725" to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* with all his heart|strong="H3824", and with all his soul|strong="H5315", and with all his might|strong="H3966", according to all the law|strong="H8451" of Moses|strong="H4872"; neither after|strong="H0310" him arose|strong="H6965" there any like him.
Notwithstanding the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* turned|strong="H7725" not from the fierceness|strong="H2740" of his great|strong="H1419" wrath|strong="H0639", wherewith his anger|strong="H0639" was kindled|strong="H2734" against Judah|strong="H3063", because of all the provocations|strong="H3708" that Manasseh|strong="H4519" had provoked|strong="H3707" him withal.
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559", I will remove|strong="H5493" Judah|strong="H3063" also out of my sight|strong="H6440", as I have removed|strong="H5493" Israel|strong="H3478", and will cast off|strong="H3988" this city|strong="H5892" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" which I have chosen|strong="H0977", and the house|strong="H1004" of which I said|strong="H0559", My name|strong="H8034" shall be there.
Now the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Josiah|strong="H2977", and all that he did|strong="H6213", are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the chronicles|strong="H1697" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"?
In his days|strong="H3117" Pharaoh-nechoh|strong="H6549" king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" went up|strong="H5927" against the king|strong="H4428" of Assyria|strong="H0804" to the river|strong="H5104" Euphrates|strong="H6578": and king|strong="H4428" Josiah|strong="H2977" went|strong="H3212" against|strong="H7125" him; and he slew|strong="H4191" him at Megiddo|strong="H4023", when he had seen|strong="H7200" him.
And his servants|strong="H5650" carried him in a chariot|strong="H7392" dead|strong="H4191" from Megiddo|strong="H4023", and brought|strong="H0935" him to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and buried|strong="H6912" him in his own sepulchre|strong="H6900". And the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776" took|strong="H3947" Jehoahaz|strong="H3059" the son|strong="H1121" of Josiah|strong="H2977", and anointed|strong="H4886" him, and made him king|strong="H4427" in his father’s|strong="H0001" stead.
Jehoahaz|strong="H3059" was twenty|strong="H6242" and three|strong="H7969" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427"; and he reigned|strong="H4427" three|strong="H7969" months|strong="H2320" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Hamutal|strong="H2537", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Jeremiah|strong="H3414" of Libnah|strong="H3841".
And he did|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, according to all that his fathers|strong="H0001" had done|strong="H6213".
And Pharaoh-nechoh|strong="H6549" put him in bands|strong="H0631" at Riblah|strong="H7247" in the land|strong="H0776" of Hamath|strong="H2574", that he might not reign|strong="H4427" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389"; and put|strong="H5414" the land|strong="H0776" to a tribute|strong="H6066" of an hundred|strong="H3967" talents|strong="H3603" of silver|strong="H3701", and a talent|strong="H3603" of gold|strong="H2091".
And Pharaoh-nechoh|strong="H6549" made Eliakim|strong="H0471" the son|strong="H1121" of Josiah|strong="H2977" king|strong="H4427" in the room of Josiah|strong="H2977" his father|strong="H0001", and turned|strong="H5437" his name|strong="H8034" to Jehoiakim|strong="H3079", and took|strong="H3947" Jehoahaz|strong="H3059" away|strong="H3947": and he came|strong="H0935" to Egypt|strong="H4714", and died|strong="H4191" there.
And Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" gave|strong="H5414" the silver|strong="H3701" and the gold|strong="H2091" to Pharaoh|strong="H6547"; but he taxed|strong="H6186" the land|strong="H0776" to give|strong="H5414" the money|strong="H3701" according to the commandment|strong="H6310" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547": he exacted|strong="H5065" the silver|strong="H3701" and the gold|strong="H2091" of the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776", of every one|strong="H0376" according to his taxation|strong="H6187", to give|strong="H5414" it unto Pharaoh-nechoh|strong="H6549".
Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" was twenty|strong="H6242" and five|strong="H2568" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427"; and he reigned|strong="H4427" eleven|strong="H0259" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Zebudah|strong="H2080", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Pedaiah|strong="H6305" of Rumah|strong="H7316".
And he did|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, according to all that his fathers|strong="H0001" had done|strong="H6213".
