Josiah|strong="H2977" was eight|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" thirty|strong="H7970" and one|strong="H0259" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Jedidah|strong="H3040", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Adaiah|strong="H5718" of Boscath|strong="H1218".
And he did|strong="H6213" that which was right|strong="H3477" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and walked|strong="H3212" in all the way|strong="H1870" of David|strong="H1732" his father|strong="H0001", and turned not aside|strong="H5493" to the right hand|strong="H3225" or to the left|strong="H8040".
And it came to pass in the eighteenth|strong="H8083" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Josiah|strong="H2977", that the king|strong="H4428" sent|strong="H7971" Shaphan|strong="H8227" the son|strong="H1121" of Azaliah|strong="H0683", the son|strong="H1121" of Meshullam|strong="H4918", the scribe|strong="H5608", to the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, saying|strong="H0559",
Go up|strong="H5927" to Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548", that he may sum|strong="H8552" the silver|strong="H3701" which is brought|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which the keepers|strong="H8104" of the door|strong="H5592" have gathered|strong="H0622" of the people|strong="H5971":
And let them deliver|strong="H5414" it into the hand|strong="H3027" of the doers|strong="H6213" of the work|strong="H4399", that have the oversight|strong="H6485" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and let them give|strong="H5414" it to the doers|strong="H6213" of the work|strong="H4399" which is in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to repair|strong="H2388" the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004",
Unto carpenters|strong="H2796", and builders|strong="H1129", and masons|strong="H1443", and to buy|strong="H7069" timber|strong="H6086" and hewn|strong="H4274" stone|strong="H0068" to repair|strong="H2388" the house|strong="H1004".
Howbeit there was no reckoning made|strong="H2803" with them of the money|strong="H3701" that was delivered|strong="H5414" into their hand|strong="H3027", because they dealt|strong="H6213" faithfully|strong="H0530".
And Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548" said|strong="H0559" unto Shaphan|strong="H8227" the scribe|strong="H5608", I have found|strong="H4672" the book|strong="H5612" of the law|strong="H8451" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And Hilkiah|strong="H2518" gave|strong="H5414" the book|strong="H5612" to Shaphan|strong="H8227", and he read|strong="H7121" it.
And Shaphan|strong="H8227" the scribe|strong="H5608" came|strong="H0935" to the king|strong="H4428", and brought|strong="H7725" the king|strong="H4428" word|strong="H1697" again|strong="H7725", and said|strong="H0559", Thy servants|strong="H5650" have gathered|strong="H5413" the money|strong="H3701" that was found|strong="H4672" in the house|strong="H1004", and have delivered|strong="H5414" it into the hand|strong="H3027" of them that do|strong="H6213" the work|strong="H4399", that have the oversight|strong="H6485" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And Shaphan|strong="H8227" the scribe|strong="H5608" shewed|strong="H5046" the king|strong="H4428", saying|strong="H0559", Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the priest|strong="H3548" hath delivered|strong="H5414" me a book|strong="H5612". And Shaphan|strong="H8227" read|strong="H7121" it before|strong="H6440" the king|strong="H4428".
And it came to pass, when the king|strong="H4428" had heard|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of the book|strong="H5612" of the law|strong="H8451", that he rent|strong="H7167" his clothes|strong="H0899".
And the king|strong="H4428" commanded|strong="H6680" Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the priest|strong="H3548", and Ahikam|strong="H0296" the son|strong="H1121" of Shaphan|strong="H8227", and Achbor|strong="H5907" the son|strong="H1121" of Michaiah|strong="H4320", and Shaphan|strong="H8227" the scribe|strong="H5608", and Asahiah|strong="H6222" a servant|strong="H5650" of the king’s|strong="H4428", saying|strong="H0559",
Go|strong="H3212" ye, enquire|strong="H1875" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* for me, and for the people|strong="H5971", and for all Judah|strong="H3063", concerning the words|strong="H1697" of this book|strong="H5612" that is found|strong="H4672": for great|strong="H1419" is the wrath|strong="H2534" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* that is kindled|strong="H3341" against us, because our fathers|strong="H0001" have not hearkened|strong="H8085" unto the words|strong="H1697" of this book|strong="H5612", to do|strong="H6213" according unto all that which is written|strong="H3789" concerning us.
So Hilkiah|strong="H2518" the priest|strong="H3548", and Ahikam|strong="H0296", and Achbor|strong="H5907", and Shaphan|strong="H8227", and Asahiah|strong="H6222", went|strong="H3212" unto Huldah|strong="H2468" the prophetess|strong="H5031", the wife|strong="H0802" of Shallum|strong="H7967" the son|strong="H1121" of Tikvah|strong="H8616", the son|strong="H1121" of Harhas|strong="H2745", keeper|strong="H8104" of the wardrobe|strong="H0899"; (now she dwelt|strong="H3427" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" in the college|strong="H4932";) and they communed|strong="H1696" with her.
And she said|strong="H0559" unto them, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", Tell|strong="H0559" the man|strong="H0376" that sent|strong="H7971" you to me,
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Behold, I will bring|strong="H0935" evil|strong="H7451" upon this place|strong="H4725", and upon the inhabitants|strong="H3427" thereof, even all the words|strong="H1697" of the book|strong="H5612" which the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" hath read|strong="H7121":
Because they have forsaken|strong="H5800" me, and have burned incense|strong="H6999" unto other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430", that they might provoke me to anger|strong="H3707" with all the works|strong="H4639" of their hands|strong="H3027"; therefore my wrath|strong="H2534" shall be kindled|strong="H3341" against this place|strong="H4725", and shall not be quenched|strong="H3518".
But to the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" which sent|strong="H7971" you to enquire|strong="H1875" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, thus shall ye say|strong="H0559" to him, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", As touching the words|strong="H1697" which thou hast heard|strong="H8085";
Because thine heart|strong="H3824" was tender|strong="H7401", and thou hast humbled|strong="H3665" thyself before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, when thou heardest|strong="H8085" what I spake|strong="H1696" against this place|strong="H4725", and against the inhabitants|strong="H3427" thereof, that they should become a desolation|strong="H8047" and a curse|strong="H7045", and hast rent|strong="H7167" thy clothes|strong="H0899", and wept|strong="H1058" before|strong="H6440" me; I also have heard|strong="H8085" thee, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Behold therefore, I will gather|strong="H0622" thee unto thy fathers|strong="H0001", and thou shalt be gathered|strong="H0622" into thy grave|strong="H6913" in peace|strong="H7965"; and thine eyes|strong="H5869" shall not see|strong="H7200" all the evil|strong="H7451" which I will bring|strong="H0935" upon this place|strong="H4725". And they brought|strong="H7725" the king|strong="H4428" word|strong="H1697" again|strong="H7725".
