2 Reis 24

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 In his days|strong="H3117" Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" came up|strong="H5927", and Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" became his servant|strong="H5650" three|strong="H7969" years|strong="H8141": then he turned|strong="H7725" and rebelled|strong="H4775" against him.

2 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H7971" against him bands|strong="H1416" of the Chaldees|strong="H3778", and bands|strong="H1416" of the Syrians|strong="H0758", and bands|strong="H1416" of the Moabites|strong="H4124", and bands|strong="H1416" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983", and sent|strong="H7971" them against Judah|strong="H3063" to destroy|strong="H0006" it, according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he spake|strong="H1696" by|strong="H3027" his servants|strong="H5650" the prophets|strong="H5030".

3 Surely at the commandment|strong="H6310" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came this upon Judah|strong="H3063", to remove|strong="H5493" them out of his sight|strong="H6440", for the sins|strong="H2403" of Manasseh|strong="H4519", according to all that he did|strong="H6213";

4 And also for the innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818" that he shed|strong="H8210": for he filled|strong="H4390" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" with innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818"; which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* would|strong="H0014" not pardon|strong="H5545".

5 Now the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Jehoiakim|strong="H3079", and all that he did|strong="H6213", are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the chronicles|strong="H1697" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"?

6 So Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001": and Jehoiachin|strong="H3078" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.

7 And the king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" came|strong="H3318" not again|strong="H3254" any more out of his land|strong="H0776": for the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" had taken|strong="H3947" from the river|strong="H5158" of Egypt|strong="H4714" unto the river|strong="H5104" Euphrates|strong="H6578" all that pertained to the king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714".

8 Jehoiachin|strong="H3078" was eighteen|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" three|strong="H7969" months|strong="H2320". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Nehushta|strong="H5179", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Elnathan|strong="H0494" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

9 And he did|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, according to all that his father|strong="H0001" had done|strong="H6213".

10 At that time|strong="H6256" the servants|strong="H5650" of Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" came up|strong="H5927" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and the city|strong="H5892" was besieged|strong="H0935".

11 And Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" came|strong="H0935" against the city|strong="H5892", and his servants|strong="H5650" did besiege|strong="H6696" it.

12 And Jehoiachin|strong="H3078" the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" went out|strong="H3318" to the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", he, and his mother|strong="H0517", and his servants|strong="H5650", and his princes|strong="H8269", and his officers|strong="H5631": and the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" took|strong="H3947" him in the eighth|strong="H8083" year|strong="H8141" of his reign|strong="H4427".

13 And he carried out|strong="H3318" thence all the treasures|strong="H0214" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the treasures|strong="H0214" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", and cut in pieces|strong="H7112" all the vessels|strong="H3627" of gold|strong="H2091" which Solomon|strong="H8010" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" had made|strong="H6213" in the temple|strong="H1964" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had said|strong="H1696".

14 And he carried away|strong="H1540" all Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and all the princes|strong="H8269", and all the mighty men|strong="H1368" of valour|strong="H2428", even ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505" captives|strong="H1540", and all the craftsmen|strong="H2796" and smiths|strong="H4525": none remained|strong="H7604", save|strong="H2108" the poorest sort|strong="H1803" of the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776".

15 And he carried away|strong="H1540" Jehoiachin|strong="H3078" to Babylon|strong="H0894", and the king’s|strong="H4428" mother|strong="H0517", and the king’s|strong="H4428" wives|strong="H0802", and his officers|strong="H5631", and the mighty|strong="H0352" of the land|strong="H0776", those carried|strong="H3212" he into captivity|strong="H1473" from Jerusalem|strong="H3389" to Babylon|strong="H0894".

16 And all the men|strong="H0582" of might|strong="H2428", even seven|strong="H7651" thousand|strong="H0505", and craftsmen|strong="H2796" and smiths|strong="H4525" a thousand|strong="H0505", all that were strong|strong="H1368" and apt|strong="H6213" for war|strong="H4421", even them the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" brought|strong="H0935" captive|strong="H1473" to Babylon|strong="H0894".

17 And the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" made Mattaniah|strong="H4983" his father’s brother|strong="H1730" king|strong="H4427" in his stead, and changed|strong="H5437" his name|strong="H8034" to Zedekiah|strong="H6667".

18 Zedekiah|strong="H6667" was twenty|strong="H6242" and one|strong="H0259" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" eleven|strong="H0259" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Hamutal|strong="H2537", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Jeremiah|strong="H3414" of Libnah|strong="H3841".

19 And he did|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, according to all that Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" had done|strong="H6213".

20 For through the anger|strong="H0639" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* it came to pass in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" and Judah|strong="H3063", until he had cast them out|strong="H7993" from his presence|strong="H6440", that Zedekiah|strong="H6667" rebelled|strong="H4775" against the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894".
