Now Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001", and was buried|strong="H6912" with his fathers|strong="H0001" in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732". And Jehoram|strong="H3088" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.
And he had brethren|strong="H0251" the sons|strong="H1121" of Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", Azariah|strong="H5838", and Jehiel|strong="H3171", and Zechariah|strong="H2148", and Azariah|strong="H5838", and Michael|strong="H4317", and Shephatiah|strong="H8203": all these were the sons|strong="H1121" of Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And their father|strong="H0001" gave|strong="H5414" them great|strong="H7227" gifts|strong="H4979" of silver|strong="H3701", and of gold|strong="H2091", and of precious things|strong="H4030", with fenced|strong="H4694" cities|strong="H5892" in Judah|strong="H3063": but the kingdom|strong="H4467" gave|strong="H5414" he to Jehoram|strong="H3088"; because he was the firstborn|strong="H1060".
Now when Jehoram|strong="H3088" was risen up|strong="H6965" to the kingdom|strong="H4467" of his father|strong="H0001", he strengthened|strong="H2388" himself, and slew|strong="H2026" all his brethren|strong="H0251" with the sword|strong="H2719", and divers also of the princes|strong="H8269" of Israel|strong="H3478".
Jehoram|strong="H3088" was thirty|strong="H7970" and two|strong="H8147" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" eight|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
And he walked|strong="H3212" in the way|strong="H1870" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", like as did|strong="H6213" the house|strong="H1004" of Ahab|strong="H0256": for he had the daughter|strong="H1323" of Ahab|strong="H0256" to wife|strong="H0802": and he wrought|strong="H6213" that which was evil|strong="H7451" in the eyes|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Howbeit the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* would|strong="H0014" not destroy|strong="H7843" the house|strong="H1004" of David|strong="H1732", because of the covenant|strong="H1285" that he had made|strong="H3772" with David|strong="H1732", and as he promised|strong="H0559" to give|strong="H5414" a light|strong="H5216" to him and to his sons|strong="H1121" for ever|strong="H3117".
In his days|strong="H3117" the Edomites|strong="H0123" revolted|strong="H6586" from under the dominion|strong="H3027" of Judah|strong="H3063", and made|strong="H4427" themselves a king|strong="H4428".
Then Jehoram|strong="H3088" went forth|strong="H5674" with his princes|strong="H8269", and all his chariots|strong="H7393" with him: and he rose up|strong="H6965" by night|strong="H3915", and smote|strong="H5221" the Edomites|strong="H0123" which compassed him in|strong="H5437", and the captains|strong="H8269" of the chariots|strong="H7393".
So the Edomites|strong="H0123" revolted|strong="H6586" from under the hand|strong="H3027" of Judah|strong="H3063" unto this day|strong="H3117". The same time|strong="H6256" also did Libnah|strong="H3841" revolt|strong="H6586" from under his hand|strong="H3027"; because he had forsaken|strong="H5800" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of his fathers|strong="H0001".
Moreover he made|strong="H6213" high places|strong="H1116" in the mountains|strong="H2022" of Judah|strong="H3063", and caused the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" to commit fornication|strong="H2181", and compelled|strong="H5080" Judah|strong="H3063" thereto.
And there came|strong="H0935" a writing|strong="H4385" to him from Elijah|strong="H0452" the prophet|strong="H5030", saying|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of David|strong="H1732" thy father|strong="H0001", Because thou hast not walked|strong="H1980" in the ways|strong="H1870" of Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" thy father|strong="H0001", nor in the ways|strong="H1870" of Asa|strong="H0609" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063",
But hast walked|strong="H3212" in the way|strong="H1870" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", and hast made Judah|strong="H3063" and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" to go a whoring|strong="H2181", like to the whoredoms|strong="H2181" of the house|strong="H1004" of Ahab|strong="H0256", and also hast slain|strong="H2026" thy brethren|strong="H0251" of thy father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004", which were better|strong="H2896" than thyself:
Behold, with a great|strong="H1419" plague|strong="H4046" will the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* smite|strong="H5062" thy people|strong="H5971", and thy children|strong="H1121", and thy wives|strong="H0802", and all thy goods|strong="H7399":
And thou shalt have great|strong="H7227" sickness|strong="H2483" by disease|strong="H4245" of thy bowels|strong="H4578", until thy bowels|strong="H4578" fall out|strong="H3318" by reason of the sickness|strong="H2483" day|strong="H3117" by day|strong="H3117".
Moreover the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* stirred up|strong="H5782" against Jehoram|strong="H3088" the spirit|strong="H7307" of the Philistines|strong="H6430", and of the Arabians|strong="H6163", that were near|strong="H5921" the Ethiopians|strong="H3569":
And they came up|strong="H5927" into Judah|strong="H3063", and brake|strong="H1234" into it, and carried away|strong="H7617" all the substance|strong="H7399" that was found|strong="H4672" in the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", and his sons|strong="H1121" also, and his wives|strong="H0802"; so that there was never a son|strong="H1121" left|strong="H7604" him, save Jehoahaz|strong="H3059", the youngest|strong="H6996" of his sons|strong="H1121".
And after|strong="H0310" all this the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* smote|strong="H5062" him in his bowels|strong="H4578" with an incurable|strong="H0369" disease|strong="H2483".
And it came to pass, that in process of time|strong="H3117", after|strong="H3318" the end|strong="H7093" of two|strong="H8147" years|strong="H3117", his bowels|strong="H4578" fell out|strong="H3318" by reason|strong="H5973" of his sickness|strong="H2483": so he died|strong="H4191" of sore|strong="H7451" diseases|strong="H8463". And his people|strong="H5971" made|strong="H6213" no burning|strong="H8316" for him, like the burning|strong="H8316" of his fathers|strong="H0001".
Thirty|strong="H7970" and two|strong="H8147" years old|strong="H1121" was he when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" eight|strong="H8083" years|strong="H8141", and departed|strong="H3212" without being desired|strong="H2532". Howbeit they buried|strong="H6912" him in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732", but not in the sepulchres|strong="H6913" of the kings|strong="H4428".
