1 And the earth was of one tongue, and of the same speech.
1 E toda a terra era de uma língua, e de uma fala.
2 And when they removed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Sennaar, and dwelt in it.
2 E aconteceu que, eles viajando do leste, acharam uma planície na terra de Sinar, e eles habitaram ali.
3 And each one said to his neighbour: Come, let us make brick, and bake them of stones, and slime instead of mortar.
3 E eles disseram uns aos outros: Vamos, façamos tijolos e queimemo-los. E eles tiveram tijolos por pedra, e betume por argamassa.
4 And they said: Come, let us make a city and a tower, the top whereof may reach to heaven: and let us make our name famous before we be scattered abroad into all lands.
4 E eles disseram: Vamos, edifiquemos para nós uma cidade e uma torre, cujo topo possa alcançar o céu. E façamos para nós um nome, para que não sejamos espalhados sobre a face de toda a terra.
5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of Adam were building.
5 E o SENHOR desceu para ver a cidade e a torre que os filhos dos homens edificavam.
6 And he said: Behold, it is one people, and all have one tongue: and they have begun to do this, neither will they leave off from their designs, till they accomplish them in deed.
6 E o SENHOR disse: Eis que o povo é um, e todos eles têm uma língua. E isto eles começam a fazer, e agora nada lhes será restrito, do que eles imaginam fazer.
7 Come ye, therefore, let us go down, and there may not understand one another's speech.
7 Vamos, desçamos, e ali confundamos a língua deles, para que eles não possam entender a fala uns dos outros.
8 And so the Lord scattered them from that place into all lands, and they ceased to build the city.
8 Assim, o SENHOR os espalhou dali sobre a face de toda a terra; e eles deixaram de edificar a cidade.
9 And therefore the name thereof was called Babel, because there the language of the whole earth was confounded: and from thence the Lord scattered them abroad upon the face of all countries.
9 Por isso, o nome dela é chamado Babel; porque o SENHOR ali confundiu a língua de toda a terra. E a partir dali o SENHOR os espalhou sobre a face de toda a terra.
10 These are the generations of Sem: Sem was a hundred years old when he begot Arphaxad, two years old when he begot Arphaxad, two years after the flood.
10 Estas são as gerações de Sem: Sem tinha cem anos de idade, e gerou Arfaxade dois anos depois do dilúvio.
11 And Sem lived after he begot Arphaxad, five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.
11 E Sem viveu, depois que gerou Arfaxade, quinhentos anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
12 And Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Sale.
12 E Arfaxade viveu trinta e cinco anos, e gerou Salá.
13 And Arphaxad lived after he begot Sale, three hundred and three years; and begot sons and daughters.
13 E Arfaxade viveu, depois que gerou Salá, quatrocentos e três anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
14 Sale also lived thirty years, and begot Heber.
14 E Salá viveu trinta anos, e gerou Éber.
15 And Sale lived after he begot Heber, four hundred and three years; and begot sons and daughters.
15 E Salá viveu, depois que gerou Éber, quatrocentos e três anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
16 And Heber lived thirty-four years, and begot Phaleg.
16 E Éber viveu trinta e quatro anos, e gerou Pelegue.
17 And Heber lived after he begot Phaleg, four hundred and thirty years: and begot sons and daughters.
17 E Éber viveu, depois que gerou Pelegue, quatrocentos e trinta anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
18 Phaleg also lived thirty years, and begot Reu.
18 E Pelegue viveu trinta anos, e gerou Reú.
19 And Phaleg lived after he begot Reu, two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.
19 E Pelegue viveu, depois que gerou Reú, duzentos e nove anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
20 And Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Sarug.
20 E Reú viveu trinta e dois anos, e gerou Serugue.
21 And Reu lived after he begot Sarug, two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.
21 E Reú viveu, depois que gerou Serugue, duzentos e sete anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
22 And Sarug lived thirty years, and begot Nachor.
22 E Serugue viveu trinta anos, e gerou Naor.
23 And Sarug lived after he begot Nachor, two hundred years: and begot sons and daughters.
23 E Serugue viveu, depois que gerou Naor, duzentos anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
24 And Nachor lived nine and twenty years, and begot Thare.
24 E Naor viveu vinte e nove anos, e gerou Terá.
25 And Nachor lived after he begot Thare, a hundred and nineteen years: and begot sons and daughters.
25 E Naor viveu, depois que gerou Terá, cento e dezenove anos, e gerou filhos e filhas.
26 And Thare lived seventy years, and begot Abram, and Nachor, and Aran.
26 E Terá viveu setenta anos, e gerou Abrão, Naor e Harã.
27 And these are the generations of Thare: Thare begot Abram, Nachor, and Aran. And Aran begot Lot.
27 Ora, estas são as gerações de Terá: Terá gerou Abrão, Naor e Harã, e Harã gerou Ló.
28 And Aran died before Thare his father, in the land of his nativity in Ur of the Chaldees.
28 E Harã morreu antes de seu pai Terá, na terra do seu nascimento, em Ur dos caldeus.
29 And Abram and Nachor married wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai: and the name of Nachor's wife, Melcha, the daughter of Aran, father of Melcha, and father of Jescha.
29 E Abrão e Naor tomaram esposas para si; o nome da esposa de Abrão era Sarai, e o nome da esposa de Naor era Milca, filha de Harã, pai de Milca e pai de Iscá.
30 And Sarai was barren, and had no children.
30 Mas Sarai era estéril, e ela não tinha filhos.
31 And Thare took Abram, his son, and Lot the son of Aran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, the wife of Abram his son, and brought them out of Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Chanaan: and they came as far as Haran, and dwelt there.
31 E Terá tomou Abrão, seu filho, e Ló, filho de Harã, filho de seu filho, e a Sarai, sua nora, esposa de seu filho Abrão, e saiu com eles de Ur dos caldeus para ir à terra de Canaã; e eles vieram até Harã e habitaram ali.
32 And the days of Thare were tow hundred and five years, and he died in Haran.
32 E os dias de Terá foram duzentos e cinco anos; e morreu Terá em Harã.
