1 A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.
1 O Senhor Deus detesta quem usa balanças desonestas, mas gosta de quem usa pesos justos.
2 {When} pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
2 O orgulhoso será logo humilhado; mas com os humildes está a sabedoria.
3 The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
3 As pessoas direitas são guiadas pela honestidade. A perversidade dos falsos é a sua própria desgraça.
4 Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
4 No Dia do Julgamento, as riquezas não adiantam nada, mas a honestidade livra da morte.
5 The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
5 A honestidade torna mais fácil a vida dos bons, porém os maus causarão a sua própria desgraça.
6 The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
6 A honestidade livra o homem correto, mas o desonesto é apanhado na armadilha da sua própria ganância.
7 When a wicked man dieth, {his} expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil {men} perisheth.
7 Quando o perverso morre, a sua esperança morre com ele; a esperança dos maus dá em nada.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
8 O homem honesto escapa da angústia, porém o mau a recebe em lugar dele.
9 With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
9 As palavras dos maus destroem os outros, mas a sabedoria livra do perigo os homens corretos.
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
10 A cidade fica contente com o sucesso das pessoas honestas, e há gritos de alegria quando morre um homem mau.
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
11 Quando as pessoas honestas abençoam uma cidade, ela se torna importante, mas as palavras dos maus a destroem.
12 He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
12 É tolice tratar os outros com desprezo; o homem prudente prefere ficar calado.
13 He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
13 O mexeriqueiro espalha segredos, mas a pessoa séria é discreta.
14 Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
14 O país que não tem um bom governo cairá; com muitos conselheiros, há segurança.
15 It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
15 Quem ficar como fiador de qualquer um acabará chorando. Será melhor não se comprometer.
16 A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
16 A mulher bondosa é estimada, mas a imoral é uma vergonha. O preguiçoso nunca terá dinheiro, mas quem tem iniciativa acaba ficando rico.
17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
17 Quem age com bondade faz bem a si mesmo, e quem pratica a maldade acaba se prejudicando.
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
18 Os maus não ganham nada com a sua maldade, mas quem faz o que é direito na certa será recompensado.
19 As righteousness {tendeth} to life, so he that pursueth evil {doeth it} to his own death.
19 Quem está resolvido a agir direito viverá, e quem insiste em fazer o mal morrerá.
20 The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in {their} way are his delight.
20 O Senhor Deus detesta quem tem coração perverso, mas se alegra com as pessoas corretas.
21 Hand for hand! an evil {man} shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
21 Os maus certamente serão castigados por Deus, mas os bons escaparão do castigo.
22 A fair woman who is without discretion, is {as} a gold ring in a swine's snout.
22 A beleza na mulher sem juízo é como uma joia de ouro no focinho de um porco.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
23 Os planos dos bons trazem felicidade; o que os maus planejam produz ódio.
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but {it tendeth} only to want.
24 Algumas pessoas gastam com generosidade e ficam cada vez mais ricas; outras são econômicas demais e acabam ficando cada vez mais pobres.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
25 Quem é generoso progride na vida; quem ajuda será ajudado.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
26 O comerciante que armazena mantimento, esperando preço mais alto, é amaldiçoado pelo povo; mas o que põe à venda o que tem é estimado por todos.
27 He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
27 Quem procura o bem é respeitado, mas quem busca o mal será vítima do mal.
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
28 Aquele que confia nas suas riquezas cairá, porém os honestos prosperarão como as folhagens.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
29 Quem dirige mal a sua casa acaba sem nada. Quem não tem juízo será sempre escravo de quem é sábio.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
30 Uma pessoa correta traz bênçãos para a vida dos outros; quem aumenta o número de amigos é sábio.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.
31 Assim como os bons são recompensados aqui na terra, também os pecadores e os maus são castigados.
