1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you people not proof of the work I do for the Lord?
1 Não sou eu apóstolo? Não sou livre? Não vi eu a Jesus Cristo Senhor nosso? Não sois vós a minha obra no Senhor?
2 If other people do not call me an apostle, yet surely I am an apostle to you. You people are the proof that I am an apostle for the Lord.
2 Se eu não sou apóstolo para os outros, ao menos o sou para vós; porque vós sois o selo do meu apostolado no Senhor.
3 Here is what I say to the people who say wrong things about me.
3 Esta é minha defesa para com os que me condenam.
4 Do we not have the right to eat and drink?
4 Não temos nós direito de comer e beber?
5 Do we not have the right to have a Christian wife with us as do the other apostles, and the brothers of our Lord, and Cephas?
5 Não temos nós direito de levar conosco uma esposa crente, como também os demais apóstolos, e os irmãos do Senhor, e Cefas?
6 Must Barnabas and I work for our living though the other apostles do not?
6 Ou só eu e Barnabé não temos direito de deixar de trabalhar?
7 What soldier pays for his own food when he goes to war? Who plants a garden and does not eat what grows in it? Who takes care of animals and does not get any of the milk?
7 Quem jamais milita à sua própria custa? Quem planta a vinha e não come do seu fruto? Ou quem apascenta o gado e não se alimenta do leite do gado?
8 Am I saying only what men say? Does not Gods law also say the same?
8 Digo eu isto segundo os homens? Ou não diz a lei também o mesmo?
9 Moses wrote in his books of the law of God, Do not tie shut the mouth of an ox when it is treading the grain. Does God care about the oxen?
9 Porque na lei de Moisés está escrito: Não atarás a boca ao boi que trilha o grão. Porventura tem Deus cuidado dos bois?
10 Does he not say this altogether for our sakes? Yes, he said it for our sakes. There are people who plough the ground and beat the grain. They do this work because they believe they will have a part of the food for themselves.
10 Ou não o diz certamente por nós? Certamente que por nós está escrito; porque o que lavra deve lavrar com esperança e o que debulha deve debulhar com esperança de ser participante.
11 We have planted seed by teaching you the good things of the Spirit. So we should receive something from you to help us to pay for our living.
11 Se nós vos semeamos as coisas espirituais, será muito que de vós recolhamos as carnais?
12 If it is right for other teachers to receive something from you, then we have more of a right to receive it. But we did not use our right. Instead, we do anything we can so that we will not stop the good news of Christ from going out.
12 Se outros participam deste poder sobre vós, por que não, e mais justamente, nós? Mas nós não usamos deste direito; antes suportamos tudo, para não pormos impedimento algum ao evangelho de Cristo.
13 You know there are men who do the work in the temple. They get their food from the temple. Those who help to make sacrifices in the temple get a part of the sacrifice.
13 Não sabeis vós que os que administram o que é sagrado comem do que é do templo? E que os que de contínuo estão junto ao altar, participam do altar?
14 It is the same with those who work telling the good news. The Lord said they should get their living from that work.
14 Assim ordenou também o Senhor aos que anunciam o evangelho, que vivam do evangelho.
15 And I am not writing this to ask you to do these things for me. I would rather die! It is something I am proud of, and no one shall take it away from me.
15 Mas eu de nenhuma destas coisas usei, e não escrevi isto para que assim se faça comigo; porque melhor me fora morrer, do que alguém fazer vã esta minha glória.
16 My telling the good news is not something for me to be proud of. It is something I must do. Yes, it would be very, very wrong for me if I did not tell the good news.
16 Porque, se anuncio o evangelho, não tenho de que me gloriar, pois me é imposta essa obrigação; e ai de mim, se não anunciar o evangelho!
17 If I do it because I want to do it, I get my pay. But if I do not want to do it, it is still my duty to do it.
17 E por isso, se o faço de boa mente, terei prêmio; mas, se de má vontade, apenas uma dispensação me é confiada.
18 So what is my pay? My pay is to tell the good news and not be paid for it! That is why I do not use my right to take pay for telling the good news.
18 Logo, que prêmio tenho? Que, evangelizando, proponha de graça o evangelho de Cristo para não abusar do meu poder no evangelho.
19 Even though I am no ones slave, yet I have made myself a slave to everyone. I have done this so that I might win more people to Christ.
19 Porque, sendo livre para com todos, fiz-me servo de todos para ganhar ainda mais.
20 When I was with the Jews, I lived like the Jews, so that I might win the Jews to Christ. I was not under the law. But I lived as if I was under the law of the Jews. I did this so that I might win to Christ those who are under the law.
20 E fiz-me como judeu para os judeus, para ganhar os judeus; para os que estão debaixo da lei, como se estivesse debaixo da lei, para ganhar os que estão debaixo da lei.
21 When I was with those who do not have the law of the Jews, I lived as if I did not have the law of the Jews. I did this so that I might win them also. Of course, I myself have laws. I follow the laws of Christ.
21 Para os que estão sem lei, como se estivesse sem lei (não estando sem lei para com Deus, mas debaixo da lei de Cristo), para ganhar os que estão sem lei.
22 When I was with weak people, I lived like a weak person. I did this so that I might win weak people to Christ. I lived like all kinds of people to save some of them.
22 Fiz-me como fraco para os fracos, para ganhar os fracos. Fiz-me tudo para todos, para por todos os meios chegar a salvar alguns.
23 I do all this for the good news, so that I also will have some of its blessing.
23 E eu faço isto por causa do evangelho, para ser também participante dele.
24 You know when people are running a race, they all run. But only one man will win. The way you should run is to run to win.
24 Não sabeis vós que os que correm no estádio, todos, na verdade, correm, mas um só leva o prêmio? Correi de tal maneira que o alcanceis.
25 Everyone who wants to show his strength must control himself in every way. They do it for a prize that will spoil. But what we do, we do for a reward that will never, never spoil.
25 E todo aquele que luta de tudo se abstém; eles o fazem para alcançar uma coroa corruptível; nós, porém, uma incorruptível.
26 So I do not run as if I did not know where I was going. And I do not fight like a man just beating the air.
26 Pois eu assim corro, não como a coisa incerta; assim combato, não como batendo no ar.
27 But I control my own body really well. I make my body obey me. After telling others the good news, I myself do not want to be left out.
27 Antes subjugo o meu corpo, e o reduzo à servidão, para que, pregando aos outros, eu mesmo não venha de alguma maneira a ficar reprovado.
