1 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth, who has set thy glory upon the heavens!
1 Ó Senhor , Senhor nosso, a tua grandeza é vista no mundo inteiro. O louvor dado a ti chega até o céu
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou have perfected praise (LXX/NT), because of thine adversaries, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.
2 e é cantado pelas crianças e pelas criancinhas de colo. Tu construíste uma fortaleza para te proteger dos teus inimigos, para acabar com todos os que te desafiam.
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou have ordained,
3 Quando olho para o céu, que tu criaste, para a lua e para as estrelas, que puseste nos seus lugares —
4 what is man that thou remember him? And the son of man that thou succor him?
4 que é um simples ser humano para que penses nele? Que é um ser mortal para que te preocupes com ele?
5 For thou have made him but little lower than [heavenly] agents, and crowned him with glory and honor.
5 No entanto, fizeste o ser humano inferior somente a ti mesmo e lhe deste a de um rei.
6 Thou make him to have dominion over the works of thy hands. Thou have put all things under his feet.
6 Tu lhe deste poder sobre tudo o que criaste; tu puseste todas as coisas debaixo do domínio dele:
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field,
7 as ovelhas e o gado e os animais selvagens também;
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
8 os pássaros e os peixes e todos os seres que vivem no mar.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
9 Ó Senhor , nosso Deus, a tua grandeza é vista no mundo inteiro.
