1 Bohòma njàwèŋ yep bwìŋ, wèŋ tse' ŋgòjəŋ ni' awèŋ sə nze bohòndum awèŋ. A ye vɛ'nə ya ndum mok ye-a sə̀ wo ka ncèp Nwì ntòdzəm, wo nə bʉʉŋ ŋga ŋgwe nə ka yumok ntòcep lok.

2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;

3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;

4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5 Yà'a mvə̀'nə̀ bàa sə̀ wo à sə yùgə̀ mandzə̀ Nwì nə sə naaŋ tu bohòyi lùum mok wèŋ à sə fʉhʉ ni' awo vɛ'nə, nə sə yuk ndum awo wèŋ.
5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6 Sàra ànə ye nsàp ŋwà nà'nə mòk. Yi à sə yukgə̀ ndu ye Abràham, nə sə to nà' dʉk də, <<Masà àm.>> Wèeŋ yà'sə ŋga'a mok bwe Sàra ŋga wèŋ sə gʉ̀ bə̀boŋ, nə kà yumok sə wəp na.
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
7 Mègù sə̀' vɛ'nə bohòwèŋ mbəmbam də mvəsə̀ wèŋ cu bə yep awèŋ, rìŋtse' də yi ka ŋàŋ co wù tse'. Wèeŋ kotse' wo bə̀boŋ. Njo nə də wo nə̀ kə̀ tse' lùŋ nə̀ Nwìi nə̀ kə̀ fa bwì nə yàwo sə̀', wenə wèŋ bəbɛ'. Wèeŋ gʉ mʉmvə̀' ànə ya wèeŋ gʉ̀ pìriyà fana yumok kà nà' bʉpsə̀.
7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Ncèp àm nə̀ ŋgòlə̀sə bə zeŋ, a dʉk də wèŋ pwe' tse' sə̀' nsàp ntʉm nə̀ mò'fis. Bwema sə̀ wo à dzəm bohòJisòs pwe', wèeŋ dzəm wo. Wèeŋ tse' koksə̀manziŋ, nə tse' ntʉm nə̀ fə̀fwèŋ, nə jəŋ ni' awèŋ sə nze bohòmòk bə mòk.

9 A ye-a ŋga ŋwə̀ nəmòk gʉ-a weŋ bʉp, wèŋ kà yi bʉp sə̀' gʉ̀ fəsə̀ fa. A ye-a sə̀' dʉk də ŋwə̀ nəmòk yà' weŋ, wèŋ kà yi sə̀' yàk fəsə̀. Dʉk fa nsàp ŋwə̀ ànə lɛ dʉk də, <<Nwìi tɛsə wu.>> Bʉsə̀ Nwì a to weŋ, nə kak ŋgòsè weŋ.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 Yà' cu ndzənə ŋwàk Nwì dʉk də,
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 Yi tse' ŋgòbʉ̀ʉŋ mè'rə mandzə̀ gʉ̀ bʉp,
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 Wèŋ rì də Tà Nwìi kʉ̀k tesgə̀ lis bohòbʉ̀ʉ sə̀ wo kə̀kʉrə̀,
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 A ye-a dʉk də wèŋ sə làp mandzə̀ nə̀ ŋgògʉ̀ bə̀boŋ bə zìnə àwèŋ pwe'fo' fana ye də aco ŋwə̀ nə̀ yi gʉ weŋ bʉp ye yè'sə ndà?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 A ye-a nə̀ də wèŋ sə yə ŋgə' njo nə̀ wèŋ gʉ̀ bə̀boŋ fana wèŋ sə kwa bə zeŋ kwa. Bə yà'sə lòoŋ, kà də bwìiŋ wəpsə weŋ dʉk, nə kà ntʉm awèŋ ŋgə' sə fa.
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 Wèeŋ fa megu ntʉm awèŋ bohòKrɛst də yi mègù Tà sə ntʉʉ̀ wèŋ yi. Sə fʉhʉ ghà yà lòoŋ nə̀ wù cu ŋgòtsə̀' fəsə fa ŋwə̀ nə̀ yi fek-a weŋ njo nə̀ wèŋ sə naaŋ tu bohòJisòs na.
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.

16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 Bʉsə̀ ŋga Nwì dzəm-a də wèeŋ ye ŋgə' fana yà' boŋ ghak də wèeŋ ye ŋgə' ŋga wèŋ gʉ̀ bə̀boŋ, nə noŋsə ŋgòye ŋgə' njo nə̀ wèŋ gʉ̀ bʉp.
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.
18 Jisòs Krɛst bə tu ye ànə ye ŋgə', nə kpʉ bʉ̀ʉ bʉp avès nə̀ mvèsə̀. Yi nə̀ yi ŋwə̀ nə̀ rərɛŋ à yə ŋgə' bʉ̀ʉ tu bʉ̀ʉ sə̀ wo ka rərɛŋ yeŋ, ya yi jəŋ və weŋ bohòNwì. Wo ànə zə yi bə ŋgùpni', fana yi lokok fe'lə bə yòŋsə̀.

19 É neste mesmo espírito que ele foi pregar aos espíritos que eram detidos no cárcere, àqueles que outrora, nos dias de Noé, tinham sido rebeldes,

20 quando Deus aguardava com paciência, enquanto se edificava a arca, na qual poucas pessoas, isto é, apenas oito se salvaram através da água.

21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.

22 Esse Jesus Cristo, tendo subido ao céu, está assentado à direita de Deus, depois de ter recebido a submissão dos anjos, dos principados e das potestades.
