1 Moreover Job continued on with his discourse, and said:
1 Ademais, Jó continuou sua parábola e disse:
2 As the Mighty God lives, who has taken away my justice, and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,
2 Como vive Deus, que levou embora meu julgamento, e o Todo-Poderoso, que aborreceu a minha alma;
3 as long as my breath is in me, and the spirit of God in my nostrils,
3 todo o tempo em que meu fôlego estiver em mim, e o Espírito de Deus estiver nas minhas narinas,
4 my lips will not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
4 meus lábios não falarão maldade, nem a minha língua proferirá engano.
5 Far be it from me that I should say you are right. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
5 Longe de mim que vos dê a razão; até que eu morra, não removerei minha integridade de mim.
6 I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach any of my days.
6 À minha justiça me agarro e não a largarei; meu coração não me reprovará enquanto eu viver.
7 Let my enemy be like the wicked, and he who rises up against me like the unrighteous.
7 Que meu inimigo seja como o perverso, e o que se levantar contra mim como o injusto.
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite when he is cut off, when God draws out his soul?
8 Porque qual é a esperança do hipócrita, embora ele a tenha adquirido, quando Deus retirar a sua alma?
9 Will the Mighty God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?
9 Ouvirá Deus o seu clamor quando a tribulação vier sobre ele?
10 Will he delight in the Almighty? Will he always call upon God?
10 Deleitar-se-á no Todo-Poderoso, ele sempre invocará a Deus?
11 I will teach you about the hand of the Mighty God; that which is with the Almighty I will not hide.
11 Ensinar-vos-ei pela mão de Deus; aquele que estiver com o Todo-Poderoso eu não esconderei.
12 Behold, all of you have seen it. Why then are you vain like a vapor?
12 Eis que todos vós já o vistes; por que, então, sois vós todos vãos?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man with the Mighty God, and the heritage of the ruthless, received from the Almighty:
13 Esta é a porção do homem perverso para com Deus, e a herança dos opressores, a qual receberão do Todo-Poderoso.
14 If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
14 Se os seus filhos se multiplicarem, será para a espada, e a sua descendência não se satisfará de pão.
15 Those who survive him shall be buried in death, and their widows shall not weep,
15 Aqueles que permanecem nele serão enterrados na morte; e suas viúvas não chorarão.
16 though he heaps up silver like dust, and provides clothing like clay;
16 Ainda que ele amontoe prata como pó, e prepare roupas como barro,
17 he may provide it, but the just shall wear it, and the innocent shall divide up the silver.
17 ele pode prepará-las, mas o justo as vestirá, e o inocente dividirá a prata.
18 He builds his house like a moth, like a booth which a watchman makes.
18 Ele constrói sua casa como a traça, e como uma tenda que o guarda faz.
19 The rich man shall lie down, but not be gathered up; he has opened his eyes, and is not.
19 O homem rico se deitará, mas ele não será recolhido; ele abre os seus olhos, e ele não será.
20 Terrors overtake him like waters; a tempest steals him away in the night.
20 Terrores tomam conta dele como as águas, uma tempestade o rouba à noite.
21 The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it whirls him out of his place.
21 O vento do leste carrega-o, e ele se vai; e como uma tormenta, arremessa-o para fora de seu lugar.
22 It casts him out without pity; he hastens to flee from its hand.
22 Porque Deus lançará sobre ele, e não lhe poupará; fugiria feliz de sua mão.
23 Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
23 Homens baterão palmas para ele, e assobiarão do seu lugar.
