1 The Word of Jehovah that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel:
1 Palavra do Senhor que foi dirigida a Joel, filho de Petuel.
2 Hear this, you old men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
2 “Prestem atenção, velhos, e escutem, todos os moradores da terra! Aconteceu algo assim no tempo de vocês ou nos dias de seus pais?
3 Tell your sons about it, and your sons to their sons, and their sons to another generation.
3 Contem isto aos filhos de vocês; que eles o contem aos filhos deles, e que estes falem sobre isso à geração seguinte.”
4 What was left by the chewing locust, the swarming locust ate; and that left by the swarming locust, the locust larvae ate; and that left by the locust larvae, the consuming locust ate.
4 “O que o gafanhoto cortador deixou, o gafanhoto migrador comeu; o que o migrador deixou, o gafanhoto devorador comeu; o que o devorador deixou, o gafanhoto destruidor comeu.”
5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep. And wail, all you wine drinkers, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.
5 “Acordem, beberrões, e chorem! Lamentem, todos vocês que gostam de vinho, por causa do vinho novo, pois foi tirado da boca de vocês.
6 For a nation has come up against my land, strong and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the fangs of a lioness.
6 Porque veio um povo contra a minha terra, poderoso e inumerável, com dentes como de leão e presas como de leoa.
7 He has made My vine desolation, and he has splintered My fig tree. He has stripped it bare, and thrown it down; its branches grow white.
7 Destruiu as minhas videiras e destroçou as minhas figueiras. Tirou as cascas das árvores e as jogou fora; os galhos ficaram brancos.”
8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
8 “Lamentem, assim como a virgem, vestida de roupa feita de pano de saco, lamenta a morte do seu noivo.
9 The food offering and the drink offering have been cut off from the house of Jehovah; the priests, Jehovahs ministers, mourn.
9 Na Casa do Senhor , foram cortadas as ofertas de cereais e as libações. Os sacerdotes, ministros do estão enlutados.
10 The field is wasted; the land mourns, for the grain is wasted. The new wine is dried up, the oil tree droops.
10 Os campos foram arrasados, e a terra está de luto, porque o cereal foi destruído, o vinho novo acabou, o azeite está no fim.”
11 Be dried up, you farmers, howl, you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field has perished.
11 “Fiquem envergonhados, lavradores; lamentem, vinhateiros, por causa do trigo e da cevada, porque a colheita foi destruída.
12 The vine is dried up and the fig tree droops, the pomegranate, and the palm tree, and the apple tree; all the trees of the field are dried up, because joy has dried up from the sons of men.
12 As videiras secaram, as figueiras murcharam, as romãzeiras, as palmeiras e as macieiras também. Todas as árvores do campo secaram, e já não há alegria entre os filhos dos homens.”
13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests. Howl, you ministers of the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who serve my God. For the food offering and the drink offering are held back from the house of your God.
13 “Sacerdotes, vistam roupa feita de pano de saco e pranteiem. Ministros do altar, lamentem. Ministros do meu Deus, venham e passem a noite vestidos de panos de saco. Porque no templo de seu Deus não há mais ofertas de cereais e libações.
14 Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the elders, all the inhabitants of the land, into the house of Jehovah your God, and cry unto Jehovah.
14 Proclamem um santo jejum, convoquem uma reunião solene. Reúnam os anciãos e todos os moradores desta terra na Casa do e clamem ao
15 Alas for the day! For the day of Jehovah is at hand. And it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
15 “Ah! Que dia! Porque o Dia do e ele vem como destruição da parte do Todo-Poderoso.”
16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
16 Por acaso, o alimento não foi destruído diante dos nossos olhos? E, do templo do nosso Deus, não desapareceram a alegria e o regozijo?
17 The seed shrivels under their clods; the storehouses are laid waste, the granaries are broken down, for the grain has dried up.
17 As sementes secaram debaixo dos seus torrões; os celeiros foram destruídos, os armazéns, derrubados, porque o cereal se perdeu.
18 How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment.
18 Como geme o gado! As manadas de bois estão inquietas, porque não têm pasto; também os rebanhos de ovelhas estão sofrendo.
19 O Jehovah, to You I will cry, for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and has burned all the trees of the field.
19 A ti, ó Senhor , clamo, porque o fogo devorou as pastagens, e as chamas consumiram todas as árvores do campo.
20 The beasts of the field also pant after You, for the rivers of water are dried up, and the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
20 Também todos os animais selvagens suspiram por ti, porque os rios secaram, e o fogo devorou as pastagens.
