1 In the second year of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, became king.
1 No segundo ano do reinado de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, em Israel, Amazias, filho de Joás, se tornou rei de Judá.
2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mothers name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
2 Quando isso aconteceu, Amazias tinha vinte e cinco anos. Ele governou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Jeoadã e era da cidade de Jerusalém.
3 And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, yet not like his father David; he did everything as his father Joash had done.
3 Amazias fez o que é agradável a Deus, o Senhor , porém não foi tão correto como o seu antepassado, o rei Davi; pelo contrário, fez aquilo que o seu pai Joás havia feito.
4 However the high places were not taken away, and the people were still sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.
4 Ele não derrubou os lugares pagãos de adoração, e o povo continuou a oferecer sacrifícios e a queimar incenso nesses lugares.
5 And it happened, as soon as the kingdom had been secured in his hand, that he struck his servants who had killed his father the king.
5 Assim que se firmou no poder, Amazias mandou matar os oficiais que haviam assassinado o seu pai, o rei.
6 But the children of the murderers he did not execute, according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which Jehovah had commanded, saying, Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall be put to death for his own sin.
6 No entanto, não matou os filhos deles, mas seguiu o que o Senhor havia mandado na Lei de Moisés: “Os pais não serão mortos por causa de crimes cometidos pelos filhos, nem os filhos, por causa de crimes cometidos pelos pais; uma pessoa será morta somente como castigo pelo crime que ela mesma cometeu.”
7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel to this day.
7 No vale do Sal, Amazias matou dez mil soldados do país de Edom; ele conquistou na guerra a cidade de Selá e pôs nela o nome de Jocteel, e assim é conhecida até hoje .
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
8 Então Amazias mandou mensageiros ao rei Jeoás, de Israel, desafiando-o para uma batalha.
9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son as wife; and a wild beast that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.
9 Mas o rei Jeoás respondeu assim: — Uma vez um espinheiro dos montes Líbanos mandou a seguinte mensagem para um cedro: “Dê a sua filha em casamento para o meu filho.” Mas um animal selvagem passou por ali e pisou em cima do espinheiro.
10 You have attacked to strike Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in that, and stay at your house; why stir yourself up over evil so that you fall, you and Judah with you?
10 De fato, você, Amazias, venceu os edomitas e por isso está todo orgulhoso. Alegre-se com a sua fama e fique em casa. Para que arranjar um problema que trará somente a desgraça para você e para o seu povo?
11 But Amaziah would not listen. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went out; so he and Amaziah king of Judah looked each other in the face at Beth Shemesh of Judah.
11 Mas Amazias não quis atendê-lo. Então o rei Jeoás saiu com os seus soldados e lutou contra ele em Bete-Semes, na região de Judá.
12 And Judah was struck down before Israel, and every man fled to his tent.
12 O exército de Amazias foi derrotado, e todos os seus soldados fugiram para casa.
13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh; and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate; four hundred cubits.
13 Jeoás prendeu Amazias em Bete-Semes, avançou para Jerusalém e derrubou as muralhas da cidade desde o Portão de Efraim até o Portão da Esquina, um trecho de mais ou menos duzentos metros.
14 And he took all the gold and silver, all the articles that were found in the house of Jehovah and in the treasuries of the kings house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
14 Ele pegou toda a prata e todo o ouro que achou, pegou todos os objetos do Templo e todos os tesouros do palácio e também levou reféns . E voltou para Samaria.
15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did; his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah; are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15 Todas as outras coisas que Jeoás fez e também a sua coragem na batalha contra o rei Amazias, de Judá, estão escritas na História dos Reis de Israel .
16 So Jehoash rested with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.
16 Jeoás morreu e foi sepultado nos túmulos dos reis, em Samaria, e o seu filho Jeroboão II ficou no lugar dele como rei.
17 And Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
17 O rei Amazias, de Judá, viveu quinze anos depois da morte do rei de Israel, Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah.

19 And they conspired treason against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
19 Houve uma conspiração em Jerusalém para matar Amazias, e por isso ele fugiu para a cidade de Laquis; mas os seus inimigos o seguiram até lá e o mataram.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the City of David.

21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king rested with his fathers.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, became king in Samaria, and reigned forty-one years.
23 No ano quinze do reinado de Amazias, filho de Joás, em Judá, Jeroboão II, filho de Jeoás, se tornou rei de Israel e governou quarenta e um anos em Samaria.
24 And he did evil in the eyes of Jehovah; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin.
24 Jeroboão II fez coisas erradas, que não agradam a Deus, o Senhor . Não abandonou aqueles mesmos pecados que Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, havia feito o povo de Israel cometer no passado.
25 He restored the territory of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the plain, according to the Word of Jehovah the God of Israel, which He had spoken through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet who was from Gath Hepher.
25 Jeroboão II conquistou de novo todo o território que havia sido de Israel, desde a subida de Hamate, no Norte, até o mar Morto, no Sul. O Senhor , o Deus de Israel, havia prometido isso por meio do seu servo , o profeta Jonas, filho de Amitai, que era de Gate-Hefer.
26 For Jehovah saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter; and whether bond or free, there was no helper for Israel.
26 O Senhor Deus viu o terrível sofrimento dos israelitas; não havia ninguém, ninguém mesmo, que os ajudasse.
27 And Jehovah had not spoken to blot out the name of Israel from under the heavens; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
27 Mas o Senhor não tinha a intenção de destruir o povo de Israel completamente e para sempre; por isso, ele os livrou por meio do rei Jeroboão II.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did; his might, how he made war, and how he recovered for Israel from Damascus and Hamath what had belonged to Judah; are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel.
28 Todas as outras coisas que Jeroboão II fez, o seu poder, como ele lutou e como conquistou de novo as cidades de Damasco e Hamate para Israel, tudo está escrito na História dos Reis de Israel .
29 So Jeroboam rested with his fathers, the kings of Israel. And Zechariah his son reigned in his place.
29 Jeroboão II morreu e foi sepultado nos túmulos dos reis, e o seu filho Zacarias ficou no lugar dele como rei.
