1 Forsothe Joob answeride, and seide,
1 Mas Jó respondeu e disse:
2 Y preye, here ye my wordis, and do ye penaunce.
2 Ouvi diligentemente o meu discurso, e que isto seja a vossa consolação.
3 Suffre ye me, that Y speke; and leiye ye aftir my wordis, if it schal seme worthi.
3 Sofrei-me para que eu possa falar; e depois que eu tiver falado, zombai.
4 Whether my disputyng is ayens man, that skilfuli Y owe not to be sori?
4 Quanto a mim, é a minha reclamação para algum homem? E se o fosse, por que não deveria o meu espírito estar atribulado?
5 Perseyue ye me, and be ye astonyed; and sette ye fyngur on youre mouth.
5 Marcai-me, e ficai atônitos, e ponde vossa mão sobre vossa boca.
6 And whanne Y bithenke, Y drede, and tremblyng schakith my fleisch.
6 Até quando eu me lembro disso, fico com medo, e o tremor toma conta da minha carne.
7 Whi therfor lyuen wickid men? Thei ben enhaunsid, and coumfortid with richessis.
7 Por que vivem os perversos, envelhecem, sim, e são poderosos em poder?
8 Her seed dwellith bifor hem; the cumpeny of kynesmen, and of sones of sones dwellith in her siyt.
8 Sua semente se estabelece à sua vista com eles; e sua descendência diante de seus olhos.
9 Her housis ben sikur, and pesible; and the yerde of God is not on hem.
9 Suas casas estão a salvo do medo, e nem a vara de Deus está sobre eles.
10 The cow of hem conseyuede, and caluede not a deed calf; the cow caluyde, and is not priued of hir calf.
10 Seus touros dão cria, e não falham; suas vacas dão à luz, e não lançam fora seus novilhos.
11 Her litle children goen out as flockis; and her yonge children `maken fulli ioye with pleies.
11 Eles enviam os seus pequeninos como um rebanho, e seus filhos dançam.
12 Thei holden tympan, and harpe; and ioien at the soun of orgun.
12 Eles tomam o tamboril e a harpa, e regozijam-se ao som do órgão.
13 Thei leden in goodis her daies; and in a point thei goen doun to hellis.
13 Eles passam os seus dias em riqueza, e em um momento descem à sepultura.
14 Whiche men seiden to God, Go thou awei fro us; we nylen the kunnyng of thi weies.
14 Portanto, eles dizem a Deus: Retira-te de nós; porque não desejamos o conhecimento dos teus caminhos.
15 Who is Almiyti God, that we serue him? and what profitith it to vs, if we preien him?
15 O que é o Todo-Poderoso, para que o sirvamos? E que proveito teremos se orarmos a ele?
16 Netheles for her goodis ben not in her hond, `that is, power, the counsel of wickid men be fer fro me.
16 Eis que seus bens não estão em suas mãos; o conselho dos perversos está longe de mim.
17 Hou ofte schal the lanterne of wickid men be quenchid, and flowing schal come on hem, and God schal departe the sorewis of his stronge veniaunce?
17 Quão frequentemente a lâmpada do perverso é apagada! E quão frequentemente vem a destruição sobre eles! Deus distribui dores em sua ira.
18 Thei schulen be as chaffis bifor the face of the wynd; and as a deed sparcle, whiche the whirlewynd scaterith abrood.
18 Eles são como o restolho diante do vento, e como a palha que a tempestade carrega.
19 God schal kepe the sorewe of the fadir to hise sones; and whanne he hath yoldun, thanne he schal wite.
19 Deus reserva a sua iniquidade para seus filhos; ele o recompensa, e ele saberá disso.
20 Hise iyen schulen se her sleyng; and he schal drynke of the stronge veniaunce of Almyyti God.
20 Seus olhos verão a sua destruição, e ele beberá da ira do Todo-Poderoso.
21 For whi what perteyneth it to hym of his hows aftir hym, thouy the noumbre of his monethis be half takun awey?
21 Porquanto, que prazer terá ele em sua casa depois que ele se for, quando o número de seus meses for cortado ao meio?
22 Whether ony man schal teche God kunnyng, which demeth hem that ben hiye?
22 Ensinará alguém conhecimento a Deus; vendo que ele julga aqueles que estão no alto?
23 This yuel man dieth strong and hool, riche and blesful, `that is, myrie.
23 Um morre em sua plena força, estando inteiramente tranquilo e quieto.
24 Hise entrails ben ful of fatnesse; and hise boonys ben moistid with merowis.
24 Seus peitos estão cheios de leite, e seus ossos umedecidos de medula.
25 Sotheli anothir wickid man dieth in the bittirnesse of his soule, and with outen ony richessis.
25 E outro morre na amargura de sua alma, e nunca come com prazer.
26 And netheles thei schulen slepe togidere in dust, and wormes schulen hile hem.
26 Eles se deitarão semelhantemente no pó, e os vermes os cobrirão.
27 Certis Y knowe youre wickid thouytis, and sentensis ayens me.
27 Eis que eu conheço os vossos pensamentos; e os artifícios que injustamente imaginam contra mim.
28 For ye seien, Where is the hows of the prince? and where ben the tabernaclis of wickid men?
28 Porque dizeis: Onde está a casa do príncipe, e onde estão os lugares da habitação dos perversos?
29 Axe ye ech of `the weie goeris; and ye schulen knowe, that he vndurstondith these same thingis,
29 Não perguntastes aos que passam pelo caminho, e não conheceis os seus sinais;
30 that an yuel man schal be kept in to the dai of perdicioun, and schal be led to the dai of woodnesse.
30 que o perverso está reservado para o dia da destruição? Eles serão expostos ao dia da ira.
31 Who schal repreue hise weies bifor hym? and who schal yelde to hym tho thingis, whiche he hath doon?
31 Quem declarará seu caminho diante da sua face? E quem lhe retribuirá o que ele fez?
32 He schal be led to the sepulcris; and he schal wake in the heep of deed men.
32 Ainda assim, ele será levado à sepultura, e permanecerá no túmulo.
33 He was swete to the `stoonys, ether filthis, of helle; and drawith ech man aftir hym, and vnnoumbrable men bifor him.
33 Os torrões do vale lhe serão doces, e todo homem virá após ele, assim como há inúmeros antes dele.
34 Hou therfor coumforten ye me in veyn, sithen youre answeris ben schewid to `repugne to treuthe?
34 Como, então, me consolais em vão; vendo que em vossas respostas resta a falsidade?
