1 The title of the nyne and fiftithe salm. `In Ebreu thus, To victorie, on the witnessyng of roose, the swete song of Dauid, to teche, `whanne he fauyte ayens Aram of floodis, and Sirie of Soba; and Joab turnede ayen, and smoot Edom in the `valei of salt pittis, twelue thousynde. `In Jeroms translacioun thus,
1 Livra-me, Deus meu, dos meus inimigos; protege-me daqueles que se levantam contra mim.
2 To the ouercomer for lilies, the witnessing of meke and parfit Dauid, to teche, whanne he fauyte ayens Sirie of Mesopotamye, and Soba, and so forth.
2 Livra-me do que praticam a iniqüidade, e salva-me dos homens sanguinários.
3 God, thou hast put awei vs, and thou hast distried vs; thou were wrooth, and thou hast do merci to vs.
3 Pois eis que armam ciladas à minha alma; os fortes se ajuntam contra mim, não por transgressão minha nem por pecado meu, ó Senhor.
4 Thou mouedist the erthe, and thou disturblidist it; make thou hool the sorewis therof, for it is moued.
4 Eles correm, e se preparam, sem culpa minha; desperta para me ajudares, e olha.
5 Thou schewidist harde thingis to thi puple; thou yauest drynk to vs with the wyn of compunccioun.
5 Tu, ó Senhor, Deus dos exércitos, Deus de Israel, desperta para punir todas as nações; não tenhas misericórdia de nenhum dos pérfidos que praticam a iniqüidade.
6 Thou hast youe a signefiyng to hem that dreden thee; that thei fle fro the face of the bouwe. That thi derlyngis be delyuered;
6 Eles voltam à tarde, uivam como cães, e andam rodeando a cidade.
7 make thou saaf with thi riyt hond `the puple of Israel, and here thou me.
7 Eis que eles soltam gritos; espadas estão nos seus lábios; porque {pensam eles}, quem ouve?
8 God spak bi his hooli; Y schal be glad, and Y schal departe Siccimam, and Y schal meete the greet valei of tabernaclis.
8 Mas tu, Senhor, te rirás deles; zombarás de todas as nações.
9 Galaad is myn, and Manasses is myn; and Effraym is the strengthe of myn heed.
9 Em ti, força minha, esperarei; pois Deus é o meu alto refúgio.
10 Juda is my king; Moab is the pot of myn hope. In to Idumee Y schal stretche forth my scho; aliens ben maad suget to me.
10 O meu Deus com a sua benignidade virá ao meu encontro; Deus me fará ver o meu desejo sobre os meus inimigos.
11 Who schal lede me in to a citee maad strong; who schal leede me til in to Ydumee?
11 Não os mates, para que meu povo não se esqueça; espalha-os pelo teu poder, e abate-os ó Senhor, escudo nosso.
12 Whether not thou, God, that hast put awei vs; and schalt thou not, God, go out in oure vertues?
12 Pelo pecado da sua boca e pelas palavras dos seus lábios fiquem presos na sua soberba. Pelas maldições e pelas mentiras que proferem,
13 Lord, yyue thou to vs help of tribulacioun; for the heelthe of man is veyn.
13 consome-os na tua indignação; consome-os, de modo que não existem mais; para que saibam que Deus reina sobre Jacó, até os confins da terra.
14 In God we schulen make vertu; and he schal bringe to nouyt hem that disturblen vs.
14 Eles tornam a vir à tarde, uivam como cães, e andam rodeando a cidade;

15 vagueiam buscando o que comer, e resmungam se não se fartarem.
16 — ausente —
16 Eu, porém, cantarei a tua força; pela manhã louvarei com alegria a tua benignidade, porquanto tens sido para mim uma fortaleza, e refúgio no dia da minha angústia.
17 — ausente —
17 A ti, ó força minha, cantarei louvores; porque Deus é a minha fortaleza, é o Deus que me mostra benignidade.
