1 Be imitators of me, in so far as I in turn am an imitator of Christ.
1 Sigam o meu exemplo como eu sigo o exemplo de Cristo.
2 Now I commend you for remembering me in everything, and because you hold fast truths and practices precisely as I have taught them to you.
2 Eu os elogio porque vocês sempre lembram de mim e seguem as instruções que eu passei para vocês.
3 I would have you know, however, that of every man, Christ is the Head, that of a woman her husband is the Head, and that God is Christ's Head.
3 Mas quero que entendam que Cristo tem autoridade sobre todo marido, que o marido tem autoridade sobre a esposa e que Deus tem autoridade sobre Cristo.
4 A man who wears a veil when praying or prophesying dishonors his Head;
4 Se um homem cobre a cabeça quando ora ou anuncia a mensagem de Deus nas reuniões de adoração, ele está ofendendo a honra de Cristo.
5 but a woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her Head, for it is exactly the same as if she had her hair cut short.
5 E, se uma mulher não cobre a cabeça quando ora ou anuncia a mensagem de Deus nas reuniões de adoração, ela está ofendendo a honra do seu marido. Nesse caso, não há nenhuma diferença entre ela e a mulher que tem a cabeça rapada .
6 If a woman will not wear a veil, let her also cut off her hair. But since it is a dishonor to a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her wear a veil.
6 Se a mulher não cobre a cabeça, então é melhor que ela corte o cabelo de uma vez. Já que é vergonhoso para a mulher rapar a cabeça ou cortar o cabelo, então ela deve cobrir a cabeça.
7 For a man ought not to have a veil on his head, since he is the image and glory of God; while woman is the glory of man.
7 O homem não precisa cobrir a cabeça, pois ele reflete a imagem e a glória de Deus. Mas a mulher reflete a glória do homem,
8 Man does not take his origin from woman, but woman takes hers from man.
8 pois o homem não foi feito da mulher, mas a mulher foi feita do homem.
9 For man was not created for woman's sake, but woman for man's.
9 O homem não foi criado por causa da mulher, mas sim a mulher por causa do homem.
10 That is why a woman ought to have on her head a symbol of subjection, because of the angels.
10 Portanto, por causa dos anjos , a mulher deve pôr um véu na cabeça para mostrar que está debaixo da autoridade do marido.
11 Yet, in the Lord, woman is not independent of man nor man independent of woman.
11 No entanto, por estarmos unidos com o Senhor, nem a mulher é independente do homem, nem o homem é independente da mulher.
12 For just as woman originates from man, so also man comes into existence through woman, but everything springs originally from God.
12 Porque assim como a mulher foi feita do homem, assim também o homem nasce da mulher. E tudo vem de Deus.
13 Judge of this for your own selves: is it seemly for a woman to pray to God when she is unveiled?
13 Julguem vocês mesmos: será que é certo que, num culto de adoração, a mulher ore a Deus sem estar com a cabeça coberta?
14 Does not Nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair it is a dishonor to him,
14 Pois a própria natureza ensina que o cabelo comprido é uma desonra para o homem,
15 but that if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because her hair was given her for a covering?
15 mas para a mulher o cabelo comprido é motivo de orgulho. O cabelo foi dado a ela para lhe servir de véu.
16 But if any one is inclined to be contentious on the point, we have no such custom, nor have the Churches of God.
16 Mas, se alguém quer discutir sobre esse assunto, o que eu posso dizer é que nem nós nem as igrejas de Deus temos outro costume nas reuniões de adoração.
17 But while giving you these instructions, there is one thing I cannot praise–your meeting together, with bad rather than good results.
17 Nas instruções que agora vou dar a vocês, eu não posso elogiá-los, pois as suas reuniões de adoração fazem mais mal do que bem.
18 for, in the first place, when you meet as a Church, there are divisions among you. This is what I am told, and I believe that there is some truth in it.
18 Para começar, me contaram que nessas reuniões há grupos de pessoas que estão brigando, e eu creio que em parte isso é verdade.
19 For there must of necessity be differences of opinion among you, in order that it may be plainly seen who are the men of sterling worth among you.
19 Não há dúvida de que é preciso haver divisões entre vocês para que fique claro quem são os que estão certos.
20 When, however, you meet in one place, there is no eating the Supper of the Lord;
20 Quando vocês se reúnem, não é a Ceia do Senhor que vocês comem.
21 for it is his own supper of which each of you is in a hurry to partake, and one eats like a hungry man, while another has already drunk to excess.
21 Pois, na hora de comer, cada um trata de tomar a sua própria refeição . E assim, enquanto uns ficam com fome, outros chegam até a ficar bêbados.
22 Why, have you no homes in which to eat and drink? Or do you wish to show your contempt for the Church of God and make those who have no homes feel ashamed? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this matter I certainly do not praise you.
22 Por acaso vocês não têm as suas próprias casas onde podem comer e beber? Ou será que preferem desprezar a Igreja de Deus e envergonhar os que são pobres? O que é que vocês esperam que eu lhes diga? Querem que os elogie? É claro que não vou elogiá-los!
23 For it was from the Lord that I received the facts which, in turn, I handed on to you; how that the Lord Jesus, on the night He was to be betrayed, took some bread,
23 Porque eu recebi do Senhor este ensinamento que passei para vocês: que o Senhor Jesus, na noite em que foi traído, pegou o pão
24 and after giving thanks He broke it and said, »This is my body which is about to be broken for you. Do this in memory of me.«
24 e deu graças a Deus. Depois partiu o pão e disse: “Isto é o meu corpo, que é entregue em favor de vocês. Façam isto em memória de mim.”
25 In the same way, when the meal was over, He also took the cup. »This cup,« He said, »is the new Covenant of which my blood is the pledge. Do this, every time that you drink it, in memory of me.«
25 Assim também, depois do jantar, ele pegou o cálice e disse: “Este cálice é a nova
26 For every time that you eat this bread and drink from the cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death–until He returns.
26 De maneira que, cada vez que vocês comem deste pão e bebem deste cálice, estão anunciando a morte do Senhor, até que ele venha.
27 Whoever, therefore, in an unworthy manner, eats the bread or drinks from the cup of the Lord sins against the body and blood of the Lord.
27 Por isso aquele que comer do pão do Senhor ou beber do seu cálice de modo que ofenda a honra do Senhor estará pecando contra o corpo e o sangue do Senhor.
28 But let a man examine himself, and, having done that, then let him eat the bread and drink from the cup.
28 Portanto, que cada um examine a sua consciência e então coma do pão e beba do cálice.
29 For any one who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgement to himself, if he fails to estimate the body aright.
29 Pois, a pessoa que comer do pão ou beber do cálice sem reconhecer que se trata do corpo do Senhor, estará sendo julgada ao comer e beber para o seu próprio castigo.
30 That is why many among you are sickly and out of health, and why not a few die.
30 É por isso que muitos de vocês estão doentes e fracos, e alguns já morreram.
31 If, however, we estimated ourselves aright, we should not be judged.
31 Se examinássemos primeiro a nossa consciência, nós não seríamos julgados pelo Senhor.
32 But when we are judged by the Lord, chastisement follows, to save us from being condemned along with the world.
32 Mas somos julgados e castigados pelo Senhor, para não sermos condenados junto com o mundo.
33 Therefore, brethren, when you come together for this meal, wait for one another.
33 Portanto, meus irmãos, quando vocês se reunirem para a Ceia do Senhor, esperem uns pelos outros.
34 If any one is hungry, let him eat at home; so that your coming together may not lead to judgement. The other matters I will deal with whenever I come.
34 E, se alguém estiver com fome, que coma em casa, para que Deus não castigue vocês por causa dessas reuniões. Os outros assuntos eu resolverei quando chegar aí.
