1 After these things, Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, the sea of Tiberias,
1 Algum tempo depois Jesus partiu para a outra margem do mar da Galiléia ( ou seja, do mar de Tiberíades ),
2 And a great multitude followed him, because they had seen the miracles which he did on the diseased.
2 e grande multidão continuava a segui-lo, porque vira os sinais miraculosos que ele tinha realizado nos doentes.
3 But Jesus went up into a mountain, and sat there with his disciples.
3 Então Jesus subiu ao monte e sentou-se com os seus discípulos.
4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
4 Estava próxima a festa judaica da Páscoa.
5 Jesus then lifting up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming to him, saith to Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
5 Levantando os olhos e vendo uma grande multidão que se aproximava, Jesus disse a Filipe: "Onde compraremos pão para esse povo comer? "
6 (But this he said, trying him; for he himself knew what he intended to do.)
6 Fez essa pergunta apenas para pô-lo à prova, pois já tinha em mente o que ia fazer.
7 Philip answered him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that each of them may take a little.
7 Filipe lhe respondeu: "Duzentos denários não comprariam pão suficiente para que cada um recebesse um pedaço! "
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him, Here is a lad, who hath five barley-loaves and two small fishes:
8 Outro discípulo, André, irmão de Simão Pedro, tomou a palavra:
9 but what are they among so many?
9 "Aqui está um rapaz com cinco pães de cevada e dois peixinhos, mas o que é isto para tanta gente? "
10 Jesus said, Make the men sit down. (Now there was much grass in the place) So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
10 Disse Jesus: "Mandem o povo assentar-se". Havia muita grama naquele lugar, e todos se assentaram. Eram cerca de cinco mil homens.
11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were sat down, and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
11 Então Jesus tomou os pães, deu graças e os repartiu entre os que estavam assentados, tanto quanto queriam; e fez o mesmo com os peixes.
12 When they were filled, he saith to his disciples, Gather up the fragments which remain, that nothing be lost.
12 Depois que todos receberam o suficiente para comer, disse aos seus discípulos: "Ajuntem os pedaços que sobraram. Que nada seja desperdiçado".
13 They therefore gathered them, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten.
13 Então eles os ajuntaram e encheram doze cestos com os pedaços dos cinco pães de cevada deixados por aqueles que tinham comido.
14 Then those men, having seen the miracle which Jesus did, said, Of a truth this is the prophet that was to come into the world.
14 Depois de ver o sinal miraculoso que Jesus tinha realizado, o povo começou a dizer: "Sem dúvida este é o Profeta que devia vir ao mundo".
15 Jesus therefore knowing, that they were about to come and take him by force to make him a king, again retired to the mountain all alone.
15 Sabendo Jesus que pretendiam proclamá-lo rei à força, retirou-se novamente sozinho para o monte.
16 In the evening, his disciples went down to the sea, And entering into the vessel, they went over the sea toward Capernaum:
16 Ao anoitecer seus discípulos desceram para o mar,
17 And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
17 entraram num barco e começaram a travessia para Cafarnaum. Já estava escuro, e Jesus ainda não tinha ido até onde eles estavam.
18 And the sea ran high, a great wind blowing.
18 Soprava um vento forte, e as águas estavam agitadas.
19 And having rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh to the ship: and they were afraid.
19 Depois de terem remado cerca de cinco ou seis quilômetros, viram Jesus aproximando-se do barco, andando sobre o mar, e ficaram aterrorizados.
20 But he saith to them, It is I; be not afraid.
20 Mas ele lhes disse: "Sou eu! Não tenham medo! "
21 Then they willingly received him into the ship; and immediately the ship was at the land to which they were bound.
21 Então se animaram a recebê-lo no barco, e logo chegaram à praia para a qual se dirigiam.
22 The day following, the multitude who had stood on the other side of the sea, because they saw there was no other vessel there, save that one into which his disciples went, and that Jesus went not into the vessel with his disciples, but that his disciples were gone away alone:
22 No dia seguinte, a multidão que tinha ficado no outro lado do mar percebeu que apenas um barco estivera ali, e que Jesus não havia entrado nele com os seus discípulos, mas que eles tinham partido sozinhos.
23 (But there came other little vessels from Tiberias, near the place where they had eaten bread,
23 Então alguns barcos de Tiberíades aproximaram-se do lugar onde o povo tinha comido o pão após o Senhor ter dado graças.
24 after the Lord had given thanks) When they saw, that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also went aboard the vessels, and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus.
24 Quando a multidão percebeu que nem Jesus nem os discípulos estavam ali, entrou nos barcos e foi para Cafarnaum em busca de Jesus.
25 And having found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
25 Quando o encontraram do outro lado do mar, perguntaram-lhe: "Mestre, quando chegaste aqui? "
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were satisfied.
26 Jesus respondeu: "A verdade é que vocês estão me procurando, não porque viram os sinais miraculosos, mas porque comeram os pães e ficaram satisfeitos.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give you; for him hath God the Father sealed.
27 Não trabalhem pela comida que se estraga, mas pela comida que permanece para a vida eterna, a qual o Filho do homem lhes dará. Deus, o Pai, nele colocou o seu selo de aprovação".
28 Then said they to him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?
28 Então lhe perguntaram: "O que precisamos fazer para realizar as obras que Deus requer? "
29 Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
29 Jesus respondeu: "A obra de Deus é esta: crer naquele que ele enviou".
30 They said therefore to him, What sign dost thou then, that we may see and believe thee? What dost thou work?
30 Então lhe perguntaram: "Que sinal miraculoso mostrarás para que o vejamos e creiamos em ti? Que farás?
31 Our fathers ate manna in the desert, as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
31 Os nossos antepassados comeram o maná no deserto; como está escrito: ‘Ele lhes deu a comer pão do céu’".
32 Then said Jesus to them, Verily, verily I say unto you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
32 Declarou-lhes Jesus: "Digo-lhes a verdade: Não foi Moisés quem lhes deu pão do céu, mas é meu Pai quem lhes dá o verdadeiro pão do céu.
33 For the bread of God is he that cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.
33 Pois o pão de Deus é aquele que desceu do céu e dá vida ao mundo".
34 Then said they to him, Lord, ever give us this bread. And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life.
34 Disseram eles: "Senhor, dá-nos sempre desse pão! "
35 He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
35 Então Jesus declarou: "Eu sou o pão da vida. Aquele que vem a mim nunca terá fome; aquele que crê em mim nunca terá sede.
36 But I told you, that tho' ye have seen me, ye believe not.
36 Mas, como eu lhes disse, vocês me viram, mas ainda não crêem.
37 All that the Father giveth me, will come to me, and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out.
37 Todo o que o Pai me der virá a mim, e quem vier a mim eu jamais rejeitarei.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
38 Pois desci do céu, não para fazer a minha vontade, mas para fazer a vontade daquele que me enviou.
39 And this is the will of him that sent me, That of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
39 E esta é a vontade daquele que me enviou: que eu não perca nenhum dos que ele me deu, mas os ressuscite no último dia.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
40 Porque a vontade de meu Pai é que todo o que olhar para o Filho e nele crer tenha a vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia".
41 The Jews then murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
41 Com isso os judeus começaram a criticar Jesus, porque dissera: "Eu sou o pão que desceu do céu".
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven?
42 E diziam: "Este não é Jesus, o filho de José? Não conhecemos seu pai e sua mãe? Como ele pode dizer: ‘Desci do céu’? "
43 Jesus answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.
43 Respondeu Jesus: "Parem de fazer-me críticas.
44 No man can come to me, unless the Father who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
44 Ninguém pode vir a mim, se o Pai, que me enviou, não o atrair; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard and learned of the Father, cometh to me.
45 Está escrito nos Profetas: ‘Todos serão ensinados por Deus’. Todos os que ouvem o Pai e dele aprendem vêm a mim.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he who is from God; he hath seen the Father.
46 Ninguém viu o Pai, a não ser aquele que vem de Deus; somente ele viu ao Pai.
47 Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
47 Asseguro-lhes que aquele que crê tem a vida eterna.
48 I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and yet died.
48 Eu sou o pão da vida.
49 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die.
49 Os seus antepassados comeram o maná no deserto, mas morreram.
50 I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
50 Todavia, aqui está o pão que desce do céu, para que não morra quem dele comer.
51 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever, and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
51 Eu sou o pão vivo que desceu do céu. Se alguém comer deste pão, viverá para sempre. Este pão é a minha carne, que eu darei pela vida do mundo".
52 The Jews then debated among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
52 Então os judeus começaram a discutir exaltadamente entre si: "Como pode este homem nos oferecer a sua carne para comermos? "
53 But Jesus said to them, Verily, verily I say unto you, unless ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
53 Jesus lhes disse: "Eu lhes digo a verdade: Se vocês não comerem a carne do Filho do homem e não beberem o seu sangue, não terão vida em si mesmos.
54 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
54 Todo o que come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue tem a vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
55 Pois a minha carne é verdadeira comida e o meu sangue é verdadeira bebida.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.
56 Todo o que come a minha carne e bebe o meu sangue permanece em mim e eu nele.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father, so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
57 Da mesma forma como o Pai que vive me enviou e eu vivo por causa do Pai, assim aquele que se alimenta de mim viverá por minha causa.
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as your fathers ate manna, and died: he that eateth of this bread, shall live for ever.
58 Este é o pão que desceu do céu. Os antepassados de vocês comeram o maná e morreram, mas aquele que se alimenta deste pão viverá para sempre".
59 These things he said in the synagogue, teaching at Capernaum.
59 Ele disse isso quando ensinava na sinagoga de Cafarnaum.
60 Many of his disciples hearing it, said, This is an hard saying: who can hear it?
60 Ao ouvirem isso, muitos dos seus discípulos disseram: "Dura é essa palavra. Quem consegue ouvi-la? "
61 Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured about this, said to them, Doth this offend you?
61 Sabendo em seu íntimo que os seus discípulos estavam se queixando do que ouviram, Jesus lhes disse: "Isso os escandaliza?
62 What if ye shall see the Son of man ascend where he was before?
62 Que acontecerá se vocês virem o Filho do homem subir para onde estava antes!
63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken, they are spirit and they are life.
63 O Espírito dá vida; a carne não produz nada que se aproveite. As palavras que eu lhes disse são espírito e vida.
64 But there are some of you who believe not. (For Jesus had known from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who would betray him.)
64 Contudo, há alguns de vocês que não crêem". Pois Jesus sabia desde o princípio quais deles não criam e quem o iria trair.
65 Therefore said I to you, That no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father.
65 E prosseguiu: "É por isso que eu lhes disse que ninguém pode vir a mim, a não ser que isto lhe seja dado pelo Pai".
66 From this time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.
66 Daquela hora em diante, muitos dos seus discípulos voltaram atrás e deixaram de segui-lo.
67 Then said Jesus to the twelve, Are ye also minded to go away?
67 Jesus perguntou aos Doze: "Vocês também não querem ir? "
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, saying, Lord, to whom shall we go?
68 Simão Pedro lhe respondeu: "Senhor, para quem iremos? Tu tens as palavras de vida eterna.
69 Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we have believed and known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
69 Nós cremos e sabemos que és o Santo de Deus".
70 Jesus answered them, Have I not chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.
70 Então Jesus respondeu: "Não fui eu que os escolhi, os Doze? Todavia, um de vocês é um diabo! "
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he it was that would betray him, being one of the twelve.
71 ( Ele se referia a Judas, filho de Simão Iscariotes, que, embora fosse um dos Doze, mais tarde haveria de traí-lo. )
