1 Ao mestre de canto. Não destruas. Cântico de Davi, quando fugiu para a caverna, perseguido por Saul. Tende piedade de mim, ó Deus, tende piedade de mim, porque a minha alma em vós procura o seu refúgio. Abrigo-me à sombra de vossas asas, até que a tormenta passe.

3 \57:2\I will cry to God most high; to God that performeth all things for me.
3 Mande ele do céu auxílio que me salve, cubra de confusão meus perseguidores; envie-me Deus a sua graça e fidelidade.
4 \57:3\He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 Estou no meio de leões, que devoram os homens com avidez. Seus dentes são como lanças e flechas, suas línguas como espadas afiadas.
5 \57:4\My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Elevai-vos, ó Deus, no mais alto dos céus, e sobre toda a terra brilhe a vossa glória.
6 \57:5\Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6 Ante meus pés armaram rede; fizeram-me perder a coragem. Cavaram uma fossa diante de mim; caiam nela eles mesmos.
7 \57:6\They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst of which they have fallen themselves. Selah.
7 Meu coração está firme, ó Deus, meu coração está firme; vou cantar e salmodiar.
8 \57:7\My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 Desperta-te, ó minha alma; despertai, harpa e cítara! Quero acordar a aurora.
9 \57:8\Awake, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 Entre os povos, Senhor, vos louvarei; salmodiarei a vós entre as nações,
10 \57:9\I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing to thee among the nations.
10 porque aos céus se eleva a vossa misericórdia, e até as nuvens a vossa fidelidade.
11 \57:10\For thy mercy is great to the heavens, and thy truth to the clouds.
11 Elevai-vos, ó Deus, nas alturas dos céus, e brilhe a vossa glória sobre a terra inteira.
