1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
1 Meu filho, obedeça às minhas palavras e no íntimo guarde os meus mandamentos.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thy eye.
2 Obedeça aos meus mandamentos, e você terá vida; guarde os meus ensinos como a pupila dos seus olhos.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
3 Amarre-os aos dedos; escreva-os na tábua do seu coração.
4 Say to wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
4 Diga à sabedoria: "Você é minha irmã", e chame ao entendimento seu parente;
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
5 eles o manterão afastado da mulher imoral, da mulher leviana e suas palavras sedutoras.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
6 Da janela de minha casa olhei através da grade
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
7 e vi entre os inexperientes, no meio dos jovens, um rapaz sem juízo.
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house.
8 Ele vinha pela rua, próximo à esquina de certa mulher, andando em direção à casa dela
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
9 Era crepúsculo, o entardecer do dia, chegavam as sombras da noite, crescia a escuridão.
10 And behold, there met him a woman with the attire of a harlot, and subtil of heart.
10 A mulher veio então ao seu encontro, vestida como prostituta, cheia de astúcia no coração.
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
11 ( Ela é espalhafatosa e provocadora, seus pés nunca param em casa;
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
12 uma hora na rua, outra nas praças, em cada esquina fica à espreita. )
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
13 Ela agarrou o rapaz, beijou-o e lhe disse descaradamente:
14 I have peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows.
14 "Tenho em casa a carne dos sacrifícios de comunhão, que hoje fiz para cumprir os meus votos.
15 Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
15 Por isso saí para encontrá-lo; vim à sua procura e o encontrei!
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
16 Estendi sobre o meu leito cobertas de linho fino do Egito.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
17 Perfumei a minha cama com mirra, aloés e canela.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
18 Venha, vamos embriagar-nos de carícias até o amanhecer; gozemos as delícias do amor!
19 For the good-man is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
19 Pois o meu marido não está em casa; partiu para uma longa viagem.
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
20 Levou uma bolsa cheia de prata e não voltará antes da lua cheia".
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she impelled him.
21 Com a sedução das palavras o persuadiu, e o atraiu com o dulçor dos lábios.
22 He goeth after her quickly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
22 Imediatamente ele a seguiu como o boi levado ao matadouro, ou como o cervo que vai cair no laço
23 Till a dart striketh through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
23 até que uma flecha lhe atravesse o fígado, ou como o pássaro que salta para dentro do alçapão, sem saber que isso lhe custará a vida.
24 Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
24 Então, meu filho, ouça-me; dê atenção às minhas palavras.
25 Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
25 Não deixe que o seu coração se volte para os caminhos dela, nem se perca em tais veredas.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yes, many strong men have been slain by her.
26 Muitas foram as suas vítimas; os que matou são uma grande multidão.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
27 A casa dela é um caminho que desce para a sepultura, para as moradas da morte.
