1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
1 Então Zofar, da região de Naamá, em resposta disse:
2 Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, Even by reason of my haste that is in me.
2 “Jó, você me deixou perturbado, e por isso respondo logo.
3 I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame; And the spirit of my understanding answers me.
3 As suas repreensões são um insulto, mas eu sei dar a resposta certa.
4 Do you [not] know this of old time, Since man was placed on earth,
4 “Você sabe muito bem que desde os tempos antigos, desde que o ser humano existe na terra, sempre foi assim:
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless but for a moment?
5 a alegria de quem é mau dura pouco; o seu prazer passa depressa.
6 Though his height mounts up to the heavens, And his head reaches to the clouds;
6 Ele pode ser tão alto como o céu, e a sua cabeça tocar nas nuvens,
7 Yet he will perish forever like his own dung: Those who have seen him will say, Where is he?
7 mas ele se acabará para sempre como a cinza, e os seus conhecidos não ficarão sabendo o que aconteceu com ele.
8 He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found: Yes, he will be chased away as a vision of the night.
8 Ele desaparecerá como um sonho, como uma visão da noite, para nunca mais ser visto.
9 The eye which saw him will see him no more; Neither will his place anymore look at him.
9 As pessoas que viviam com ele não o verão mais.
10 His sons will seek the favor of the poor, And his hands will give back his wealth.
10 Os seus filhos devolverão aos pobres aquilo que ele roubou, aquilo que ele ganhou desonestamente.
11 His bones are full of his youth, But it will lie down with him in the dust.
11 O seu corpo jovem e forte logo virará pó.
12 Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, Though he hides it under his tongue,
12 “Para quem é mau, a maldade é doce. Ele a esconde debaixo da língua
13 Though he spares it, and will not let it go, But keeps it still inside his mouth;
13 e fica com ela na boca para sentir bem o seu gosto.
14 Yet his food in his insides is turned, It is the gall of cobras inside him.
14 Mas daí a pouco, no estômago, ela vira um veneno amargoso.
15 He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his belly.
15 O homem mau vomita as riquezas que rouba; Deus as arranca do seu estômago.
16 He will suck the poison of cobras: The viper's tongue will slay him.
16 Ele toma veneno de cobra, e esse veneno o mata.
17 He will not look at the rivers, The flowing streams of honey and butter.
17 Quem é mau não terá o prazer de tomar leite e mel, que correm como rios.
18 That which he labored for he will restore, and will not swallow it down; According to the substance that he has gotten, he will not rejoice.
18 Ele terá de abandonar tudo o que ganhou com o seu trabalho e não poderá aproveitar as suas riquezas.
19 For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor; He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
19 Isso porque explora os pobres e os esquece e rouba as casas dos outros em vez de construir as suas.
20 Because he knew no quietness inside him, He will not save anything of that in which he delights.
20 Ele nunca está satisfeito com o que possui; quer ter sempre mais e mais.
21 There was nothing left that he didn't devour; Therefore his prosperity will not endure.
21 Avança em tudo o que pode, mas a sua prosperidade acabará.
22 In the fullness of his sufficiency he will be in straits: The hand of everyone who is in misery will come upon him.
22 No ponto mais alto do seu sucesso, a miséria o atacará; todo o peso da desgraça cairá sobre ele.
23 When he is about to fill his belly, [God] will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him, And will rain it on him while he is eating.
23 “Ele que encha a barriga! Deus descarregará sobre ele a sua Deus fará chover sobre ele o seu furor.
24 He will flee from the iron weapon, And the bow of bronze will strike him through.
24 Mesmo que ele escape de uma arma de ferro, uma flecha com ponta de bronze o atravessará.
25 He draws it forth, and it comes out of his back; Yes, the glittering point comes out of his gall: Terrors are on him.
25 Tirarão a flecha das suas costas, e ela sairá brilhando com o seu sangue. E o medo tomará conta dele.
26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures: A fire not blown [by man] will devour him; It will consume that which is left in his tent.
26 Tudo o que ele ajuntou será destruído; um fogo não aceso por mãos humanas acabará com ele e com toda a sua família.
27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity, And the earth will rise up against him.
27 “O céu mostrará os pecados dos maus, e a terra se levantará para acusá-los.
28 The increase of his house will depart; [His goods] will flow away in the day of his wrath.
28 No dia em que a ira de Deus se derramar sobre eles, todas as suas riquezas serão destruídas.
29 This is the portion of [the] wicked man from God, And the heritage appointed to him by God.
29 É isso o que Deus faz com os perversos; é essa a recompensa que ele guarda para os maus.”
