1 Thou therfore my sonne be stronge in the grace that is in Christ Iesu.
1 Portanto, você, meu filho, fortifique-se na graça que há em Cristo Jesus.
2 And what thynges thou hast hearde of me many bearynge witnes the same diliver to faythfull men which are apte to teache other
2 E as coisas que me ouviu dizer na presença de muitas testemunhas, confie a homens fiéis que sejam também capazes de ensinar a outros.
3 Thou therfore suffre affliccion as a good soudier of Iesu Christ.
3 Suporte comigo os sofrimentos, como bom soldado de Cristo Jesus.
4 No man that warreth entanglith him silfe with worldely busynes and that be cause he wolde please him that hath chosen him to be a soudier.
4 Nenhum soldado se deixa envolver pelos negócios da vida civil, já que deseja agradar aquele que o alistou.
5 And though a man strive for a mastery yet ys he not crouned except he strive laufully.
5 Semelhantemente, nenhum atleta é coroado como vencedor, se não competir de acordo com as regras.
6 The husbandma that laboreth must fyrst receave of the frutes.
6 O lavrador que trabalha arduamente deve ser o primeiro a participar dos frutos da colheita.
7 Consyder what I saye. The lorde geve the vnderstondynge in all thynges.
7 Reflita no que estou dizendo, pois o Senhor lhe dará entendimento em tudo.
8 Remember that Iesus Christ beynge of he sede of David rose agayne fro deth accordynge to my gospell
8 Lembre-se de Jesus Cristo, ressuscitado dos mortos, descendente de Davi, conforme o meu evangelho,
9 wherin I suffre trouble as an evyll doar even vnto bondes. But the worde of god was not bounde.
9 pelo qual sofro a ponto de estar preso como criminoso; contudo a palavra de Deus não está presa.
10 Herefore I suffre all thinges for ye electes sakes that they myght also obtayne that saluacion which is in Christ Iesu with eternall glory.
10 Por isso, tudo suporto por causa dos eleitos, para que também eles alcancem a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus, com glória eterna.
11 It is a true sayinge if we be deed wt him we also shall live with him.
11 Esta palavra é digna de confiança: Se morremos com ele, com ele também viveremos;
12 Yf we be pacient we shall also raigne wt him. If we denye him he also shall denye vs.
12 se perseveramos, com ele também reinaremos. Se o negamos, ele também nos negará;
13 Yf we beleve not yet abideth he faithfull. He cannot denye him silfe.
13 se somos infiéis, ele permanece fiel, pois não pode negar-se a si mesmo.
14 Of these thynges put them in remembraunce and testifie before the lorde that they stryve not about wordes which is to no proffet but to pervert the hearers.
14 Continue a lembrar essas coisas a todos, advertindo-os solenemente diante de Deus, para que não se envolvam em discussões acerca de palavras; isso não tem proveito, e serve apenas para perverter os ouvintes.
15 Study to shewe thy silfe laudable vnto god a workman yt nedeth not to be a shamed dividynge the worde of trueth iustly
15 Procure apresentar-se a Deus aprovado, como obreiro que não tem do que se envergonhar, que maneja corretamente a palavra da verdade.
16 . Vngostly and vayne voyces passe over. For they shall encreace vnto greater vngodlynes
16 Evite as conversas inúteis e profanas, pois os que se dão a isso prosseguem cada vez mais para a impiedade.
17 and their wordes shall fret even as doeth a cancre: of whose nombre ys Hymeneos and Philetos
17 O ensino deles alastra como câncer; entre eles estão Himeneu e Fileto.
18 which as concernynge the trueth have erred sayinge that the resurreccion is past all redy and do destroye the fayth of divers persones.
18 Estes se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição já aconteceu, e assim a alguns pervertem a fé.
19 But the sure grounde of god remayneth and hath this seale: the lorde knoweth them that are his and let every man that calleth on the name of Christ departe from iniquite.
19 Entretanto, o firme fundamento de Deus permanece inabalável e selado com esta inscrição: "O Senhor conhece quem lhe pertence" e "afaste-se da iniqüidade todo aquele que confessa o nome do Senhor".
20 Not withstondinge in a greate housse are not only vesselles of golde and of silver: but also of wood and of erthe some for honoure and some vnto dishonoure.
20 Numa grande casa há vasos não apenas de ouro e prata, mas também de madeira e barro; alguns para fins honrosos, outros para fins desonrosos.
21 But Yf a man purdge him silfe from suche felowes he shalbe a vessell sanctified vnto honoure mete for the lorde and prepared vnto all good workes.
21 Se alguém se purificar dessas coisas, será vaso para honra, santificado, útil para o Senhor e preparado para toda boa obra.
22 Lustes of youth avoyde and folowe rightwesnes fayth love and peace with them that call on the lorde with pure herte.
22 Fuja dos desejos malignos da juventude e siga a justiça, a fé, o amor e a paz, juntamente com os que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor.
23 Folisshe and vnlearned questions put from the remebrynge that they do but gendre stryfe.
23 Evite as controvérsias tolas e fúteis, pois você sabe que acabam em brigas.
24 But the servaunt of the lorde must not stryve: but must be peasable vnto all men and apte to teache and one that can suffre:
24 Ao servo do Senhor não convém brigar mas, sim, ser amável para com todos, apto para ensinar, paciente.
25 the evyll in meknes and can informe them that resist yf that god at eny tyme will geve them repentauce for to knowe the trueth:
25 Deve corrigir com mansidão os que se lhe opõem, na esperança de que Deus lhes conceda o arrependimento, levando-os ao conhecimento da verdade,
26 that they maye come to the selves agayne out of the snare of the devyll which are now taken of him at his will.
26 para que assim voltem à sobriedade e escapem da armadilha do diabo, que os aprisionou para fazerem a sua vontade.
