1 Wherfore laye asyde all maliciousnes and all gyle and dissimulacion and envie and all backbytynge:
1 Portanto, livrem-se de toda maldade, todo engano, toda hipocrisia, toda inveja e todo tipo de difamação.
2 and as newe borne babes desyre that reasonable mylke which is with out corrupcion that ye maye growe therin.
2 Como bebês recém-nascidos, desejem intensamente o puro leite espiritual, para que, por meio dele, cresçam e experimentem plenamente a salvação,
3 If so be that ye have tasted how plesaunt the lorde is
3 agora que provaram da bondade do Senhor.
4 to whom ye come as vnto a livynge stone disalowed of men but chosen of god and precious:
4 Vocês têm se aproximado de Cristo, a pedra viva. As pessoas o rejeitaram, mas Deus o escolheu para lhe conceder grande honra.
5 and ye as lyvynge stones are made a spretuall housse and an holy presthode for to offer vp spretuall sacryfice acceptable to god by Iesus Christ.
5 E vocês também são pedras vivas, com as quais um templo espiritual é edificado. Além disso, são sacerdotes santos. Por meio de Jesus Cristo, oferecem sacrifícios espirituais que agradam a Deus.
6 Wherfore it is contayned in the scripture: beholde I put in Sion an heed corner stone electe and precious: and he that beleveth on him shall not be ashamed.
6 Como dizem as Escrituras: “Ponho em Sião uma pedra angular, escolhida para grande honra; quem confiar nela jamais será envergonhado”.
7 Vnto you therfore which beleve he is precious: but vnto them which beleve not ye stone which ye bylders refused ye same is made ye heed stone in the corner
7 Sim, vocês, os que creem, reconhecem a honra que lhe é devida. Mas, para os que não creem, “A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram se tornou a pedra angular”.
8 and a stone to stomble at and a rocke to offende them which stomble at the worde and beleve not that where on they were set.
8 E também, “Ele é a pedra de tropeço, rocha que faz as pessoas caírem”. Tropeçam porque não obedecem à palavra e, portanto, deparam com o destino planejado para elas.
9 But ye are a chosyn generacion a royall presthod an holy nacio and a peculiar people that ye shuld shewe the vertues of him that called you out of darknes into hys marvelous light
9 Vocês, porém, são povo escolhido, reino de sacerdotes, nação santa, propriedade exclusiva de Deus. Assim, vocês podem mostrar às pessoas como é admirável aquele que os chamou das trevas para sua maravilhosa luz.
10 which in tyme past were not a people yet are now the people of God: which were not vnder mercye but now have obteyned mercye.
10 “Antes vocês não tinham identidade como povo, agora são povo de Deus. Antes não haviam recebido misericórdia, agora receberam misericórdia de Deus.”
11 Derly beloved I beseche you as straugers and pilgrems abstayne from flesshly lustes which fyght agaynst the soule
11 Amados, eu os advirto, como peregrinos e estrangeiros que são, a manter distância dos desejos carnais que lutam contra a alma.
12 and se that ye have honest conversacion amonge the getyls that they which backbyte you as evyll doars maye se youre good workes and prayse god in the daye of visitacion.
12 Procurem viver de maneira exemplar entre os que não creem. Assim, mesmo que eles os acusem de praticar o mal, verão seu comportamento correto e darão glória a Deus quando ele julgar o mundo.
13 Submit youre selves vnto all manner ordinaunce of man for the lordes sake whether it be vnto the kynge as vnto the chefe heed:
13 Por causa do Senhor, submetam-se a todas as autoridades humanas, seja o rei como autoridade máxima,
14 other vnto rulars as vnto them that are sent of him for the punysshment of evyll doars: but for the laude of them that do well.
14 sejam os oficiais nomeados e enviados por ele para castigar os que fazem o mal e honrar os que fazem o bem.
15 For so is the will of god that ye put to sylence the ygnorancie of the folyshe men:
15 É da vontade de Deus que, pela prática do bem, vocês calem os ignorantes que os acusam falsamente.
16 as fre and not as havinge ye libertie for a cloke of maliciousnes but even as the servautes of god.
16 Pois vocês são livres e, no entanto, são escravos de Deus; não usem sua liberdade como desculpa para fazer o mal.
17 Honoure all men. Love brotherly felishippe. Feare god and honour the kynge.
17 Tratem todos com respeito e amem seus irmãos em Cristo. Temam a Deus e respeitem o rei.
18 Servauntes obey youre masters with all feare not only yf they be good and courteous: but also though they be frowarde.
18 Vocês, escravos, submetam-se a seu senhor com todo o respeito. Façam o que ele mandar, não apenas se for bondoso e amável, mas até mesmo se for cruel.
19 For it is thankeworthye yf a man for conscience towarde god endure grefe sufferinge wrongfully.
19 Porque Deus se agrada de vocês quando, conscientes da vontade dele, suportam com paciência o tratamento injusto.
20 For what prayse is it if when ye be buffeted for youre fautes ye take it paciently? But and yf when ye do well ye suffer wronge and take it paciently then is there thanke with God.
20 Claro que não há mérito algum em ser paciente quando são açoitados por terem feito o mal. Mas, se sofrem por terem feito o bem e suportam com paciência, Deus se agrada de vocês.
21 For herevnto verely were ye called: for Christ also suffered for vs levinge vs an insample yt ye shuld folowe his steppes
21 Porque Deus os chamou para fazerem o bem, mesmo que isso resulte em sofrimento, pois Cristo sofreu por vocês. Ele é seu exemplo; sigam seus passos.
22 which dyd no sinne nether was ther gyle founde in his mouth:
22 Ele nunca pecou, nem enganou ninguém.
23 which when he was reviled reviled not agayne: whe he suffered he threatened not: but comitted the cause to him that iudgeth ryghteously
23 Não revidou quando foi insultado, nem ameaçou se vingar quando sofreu, mas deixou seu caso nas mãos de Deus, que sempre julga com justiça.
24 which his awne silfe bare oure synnes in his body on the tree that we shuld be delyvered from synne and shuld lyve in rightewesnes. By whose strypes ye were healed.
24 Ele mesmo carregou nossos pecados em seu corpo na cruz, a fim de que morrêssemos para o pecado e vivêssemos para a justiça; por suas feridas somos curados.
25 For ye were as shepe goinge astraye: but are now returned vnto ye shepheerd and bisshoppe of youre soules.
25 Vocês eram como ovelhas desgarradas, mas agora voltaram para o Pastor, o Guardião de sua alma.
