Josué 23

1 And it came to pass a long time after that יהוה had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old [and] stricken in age. {stricken...: Heb. come into days}
1 Passado muito tempo depois que o Senhor dera repouso a Israel de todos os seus inimigos em redor, e sendo Josué já velho e entrado em dias,
2 And Joshua called for all Israel, [and] for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old [and] stricken in age:
2 chamou Josué a todo o Israel, os seus anciãos, os seus cabeças, os seus juízes e os seus oficiais e disse-lhes: Já sou velho e entrado em dias,
3 And ye have seen all that יהוה your Elohim hath done unto all these nations because of you; for יהוה your Elohim [is] he that hath fought for you.
3 e vós já tendes visto tudo quanto fez o Senhor , vosso Deus, a todas estas nações por causa de vós, porque o Senhor , vosso Deus, é o que pelejou por vós.
4 Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward. {westward: Heb. at the sunset}
4 Vede aqui que vos fiz cair em sorte às vossas tribos estas nações que restam, juntamente com todas as nações que tenho eliminado, umas e outras, desde o Jordão até ao mar Grande, para o pôr do sol.
5 And יהוה your Elohim, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as יהוה your Elohim hath promised unto you.
5 O Senhor , vosso Deus, as afastará de vós e as expulsará de vossa presença; e vós possuireis a sua terra, como o Senhor , vosso Deus, vos prometeu.
6 Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom [to] the right hand or [to] the left;
6 Esforçai-vos, pois, muito para guardardes e cumprirdes tudo quanto está escrito no Livro da Lei de Moisés, para que dela não vos aparteis, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda;
7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their elohim, nor cause to swear [by them], neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
7 para que não vos mistureis com estas nações que restaram entre vós. Não façais menção dos nomes de seus deuses, nem por eles façais jurar, nem os sirvais, nem os adoreis.
8 But cleave unto יהוה your Elohim, as ye have done unto this day. {But cleave...: or, For if ye will cleave, etc}
8 Mas ao Senhor , vosso Deus, vos apegareis, como fizestes até ao dia de hoje;
9 For יהוה hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but [as for] you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. {For יהוה...: or, Then יהוה will drive}
9 pois o Senhor expulsou de diante de vós grandes e fortes nações; e, quanto a vós outros, ninguém vos resistiu até ao dia de hoje.
10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for יהוה your Elohim, he [it is] that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
10 Um só homem dentre vós perseguirá mil, pois o Senhor , vosso Deus, é quem peleja por vós, como já vos prometeu.
11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love יהוה your Elohim. {yourselves: Heb. your souls}
11 Portanto, empenhai-vos em guardar a vossa alma, para amardes o Senhor , vosso Deus.
12 Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, [even] these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
12 Porque, se dele vos desviardes e vos apegardes ao restante destas nações ainda em vosso meio, e com elas vos aparentardes, e com elas vos misturardes, e elas convosco,
13 Know for a certainty that יהוה your Elohim will no more drive out [any of] these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim hath given you.
13 sabei, certamente, que o Senhor , vosso Deus, não expulsará mais estas nações de vossa presença, mas vos serão por laço e rede, e açoite às vossas ilhargas, e espinhos aos vossos olhos, até que pereçais nesta boa terra que vos deu o Senhor , vosso Deus.
14 And, behold, this day I [am] going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which יהוה your Elohim spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, [and] not one thing hath failed thereof.
14 Eis que, já hoje, sigo pelo caminho de todos os da terra; e vós bem sabeis de todo o vosso coração e de toda a vossa alma que nem uma só promessa caiu de todas as boas palavras que falou de vós o Senhor , vosso Deus; todas vos sobrevieram, nem uma delas falhou.
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, [that] as all good things are come upon you, which יהוה your Elohim promised you; so shall יהוה bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim hath given you.
15 E sucederá que, assim como vieram sobre vós todas estas boas coisas que o Senhor , vosso Deus, vos prometeu, assim cumprirá o Senhor contra vós outros todas as ameaças até vos destruir de sobre a boa terra que vos deu o Senhor , vosso Deus.
16 When ye have transgressed the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other elohim, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of יהוה be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
16 Quando violardes a aliança que o Senhor , vosso Deus, vos ordenou, e fordes, e servirdes a outros deuses, e os adorardes, então, a ira do Senhor se acenderá sobre vós, e logo perecereis na boa terra que vos deu.
