Josué 23

1 And it came to pass a long time after that יהוה had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old [and] stricken in age. {stricken...: Heb. come into days}
1 E sucedeu que, muitos dias depois que o SENHOR dera repouso a Israel de todos os seus inimigos em redor, e sendo Josué já velho e entrado em dias,
2 And Joshua called for all Israel, [and] for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old [and] stricken in age:
2 Chamou Josué a todo o Israel, aos seus anciãos, e aos seus cabeças, e aos seus juízes, e aos seus oficiais, e disse-lhes: Eu já sou velho e entrado em dias,
3 And ye have seen all that יהוה your Elohim hath done unto all these nations because of you; for יהוה your Elohim [is] he that hath fought for you.
3 E vós já tendes visto tudo quanto o Senhor vosso Deus fez a todas estas nações por causa de vós; porque o Senhor vosso Deus é que tem pelejado por vós.
4 Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward. {westward: Heb. at the sunset}
4 Vede que vos reparti por sorte, em herança às vossas tribos, estas nações que restam, bem como as nações que tenho destruído, desde o Jordão até o grande mar para o pôr-do-sol.
5 And יהוה your Elohim, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as יהוה your Elohim hath promised unto you.
5 E o Senhor vosso Deus as impelirá, e as expelirá de diante de vós; e vós possuireis a sua terra, como o Senhor vosso Deus vos tem prometido.
6 Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom [to] the right hand or [to] the left;
6 Esforçai-vos, pois, muito para guardardes e para fazerdes tudo quanto está escrito no livro da lei de Moisés; para que dele não vos aparteis, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda;
7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their elohim, nor cause to swear [by them], neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
7 Para que não entreis no meio destas nações que ainda ficam convosco; e dos nomes de seus deuses não façais menção, nem por eles façais jurar, nem os sirvais, nem a eles vos inclineis,
8 But cleave unto יהוה your Elohim, as ye have done unto this day. {But cleave...: or, For if ye will cleave, etc}
8 Mas ao Senhor vosso Deus vos apegareis, como fizestes até o dia de hoje;
9 For יהוה hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but [as for] you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. {For יהוה...: or, Then יהוה will drive}
9 Pois o Senhor expulsou de diante de vós grandes e fortes nações; e, quanto a vós, ninguém vos tem podido resistir, até o dia de hoje.
10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for יהוה your Elohim, he [it is] that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
10 Um só homem dentre vós perseguirá a mil; pois é o Senhor vosso Deus que peleja por vós, como já vos tem falado.
11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love יהוה your Elohim. {yourselves: Heb. your souls}
11 Portanto, guardai diligentemente as vossas almas, para amardes ao Senhor vosso Deus.
12 Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, [even] these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
12 Porque, se de algum modo vos desviardes, e vos apegardes ao restante destas nações que ainda ficou entre vós, e com elas vos aparentardes, e vós a elas entrardes, e elas a vós,
13 Know for a certainty that יהוה your Elohim will no more drive out [any of] these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim hath given you.
13 Sabei certamente que o Senhor vosso Deus não continuará a expulsar estas nações de diante de vós, mas elas vos serão por laço e rede, e açoite às vossas ilhargas, e espinhos aos vossos olhos; até que pereçais desta boa terra que vos deu o Senhor vosso Deus.
14 And, behold, this day I [am] going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which יהוה your Elohim spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, [and] not one thing hath failed thereof.
14 E eis que vou hoje pelo caminho de toda a terra; e vós bem sabeis, com todo o vosso coração, e com toda a vossa alma, que nem uma só palavra falhou de todas as boas coisas que falou de vós o Senhor vosso Deus; todas vos sobrevieram, nenhuma delas falhou.
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, [that] as all good things are come upon you, which יהוה your Elohim promised you; so shall יהוה bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which יהוה your Elohim hath given you.
15 E será que, assim como sobre vós vieram todas estas boas coisas, que o Senhor vosso Deus vos disse, assim trará o Senhor sobre vós todas aquelas más coisas, até vos destruir de sobre a boa terra que vos deu o Senhor vosso Deus.
16 When ye have transgressed the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other elohim, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of יהוה be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
16 Quando transgredirdes a aliança do Senhor vosso Deus, que vos tem ordenado, e fordes e servirdes a outros deuses, e a eles vos inclinardes, então a ira do Senhor sobre vós se acenderá, e logo perecereis de sobre a boa terra que vos deu.
