1 “Sore have they vexed me from youth” thus let Israel say
1 Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude; que Israel o repita:
2 “Sore have they vexed me from youth, but they have not prevailed against me.
2 muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude, mas jamais conseguiram vencer-me.
3 The ploughers ploughed on my back, they made their furrows long.
3 Passaram o arado em minhas costas e fizeram longos sulcos.
4 But the Lord, who is righteous, has cut the cords of the wicked.”
4 O Senhor é justo! Ele libertou-me das algemas dos ímpios.
5 Let all who are haters of Zion be put to shame and defeated.
5 Retrocedam envergonhados todos os que odeiam Sião.
6 May they be as the grass on the house-top, which withers before it shoots up;
6 Sejam como o capim do terraço, que seca antes de crescer,
7 which fills not the arms of the reaper, nor the lap of the binder of sheaves,
7 que não enche as mãos do ceifeiro nem os braços daquele que faz os fardos.
8 whereof no one says as they pass, “The blessing of God be upon you.” In the name of the Lord we bless you.
8 E que ninguém que passa diga: "Seja sobre vocês a bênção do Senhor; nós os abençoamos em nome do Senhor! "
