1 “Sore have they vexed me from youth” thus let Israel say
1 Muitas vezes me angustiaram desde a minha mocidade — Israel que o diga —;
2 “Sore have they vexed me from youth, but they have not prevailed against me.
2 muitas vezes me angustiaram desde a minha mocidade, mas não prevaleceram contra mim.
3 The ploughers ploughed on my back, they made their furrows long.
3 Os lavradores passaram o arado nas minhas costas e abriram longos sulcos.
4 But the Lord, who is righteous, has cut the cords of the wicked.”
4 Mas o Senhor é justo; cortou as cordas dos ímpios.
5 Let all who are haters of Zion be put to shame and defeated.
5 Sejam envergonhados e repelidos todos os que odeiam Sião!
6 May they be as the grass on the house-top, which withers before it shoots up;
6 Sejam como a erva dos telhados, que seca antes de florescer,
7 which fills not the arms of the reaper, nor the lap of the binder of sheaves,
7 que não enche a mão do ceifeiro, nem os braços daquele que ata os feixes!
8 whereof no one says as they pass, “The blessing of God be upon you.” In the name of the Lord we bless you.
