1 “Sore have they vexed me from youth” thus let Israel say
1 Povo de Israel, conte como os seus inimigos têm perseguido vocês desde o começo da sua história.
2 “Sore have they vexed me from youth, but they have not prevailed against me.
2 O povo responde: “Desde o começo, os nossos inimigos nos têm perseguido ferozmente, mas nunca nos venceram.
3 The ploughers ploughed on my back, they made their furrows long.
3 Eles abriram feridas fundas nas nossas costas, como um arado faz na terra.
4 But the Lord, who is righteous, has cut the cords of the wicked.”
4 Porém o Senhor , que é justo, nos livrou do domínio deles.”
5 Let all who are haters of Zion be put to shame and defeated.
5 Que sejam derrotados e fujam todos os que odeiam Jerusalém!
6 May they be as the grass on the house-top, which withers before it shoots up;
6 Que todos eles sejam como a erva que cresce nos telhados e que seca antes de ser arrancada,
7 which fills not the arms of the reaper, nor the lap of the binder of sheaves,
7 erva que ninguém colhe, nem leva embora em feixes!
8 whereof no one says as they pass, “The blessing of God be upon you.” In the name of the Lord we bless you.
