¹ “Sore have they vexed me from youth” thus let Israel say

¹ Canção gradual. Muitas vezes me afligiram desde a minha juventude, agora Israel pode dizer:

² “Sore have they vexed me from youth, but they have not prevailed against me.

² Muitas vezes me afligiram desde a minha juventude; ainda assim, eles não prevaleceram contra mim.

³ The ploughers ploughed on my back, they made their furrows long.

³ Os lavradores araram sobre as minhas costas; fizeram longos os seus sulcos.

⁴ But the Lord, who is righteous, has cut the cords of the wicked.”

⁴ O SENHOR é justo; cortou em pedaços as cordas dos perversos.

⁵ Let all who are haters of Zion be put to shame and defeated.

⁵ Sejam todos eles confundidos e virados para trás, aqueles que odeiam Sião.

⁶ May they be as the grass on the house-top, which withers before it shoots up;

⁶ Sejam como a grama sobre os telhados que se seca antes de crescer.

⁷ which fills not the arms of the reaper, nor the lap of the binder of sheaves,

⁷ Com a qual o segador não enche a sua mão, nem aquele que amarra os feixes o seu peito.

⁸ whereof no one says as they pass, “The blessing of God be upon you.” In the name of the Lord we bless you.

⁸ Nem aqueles que passam dizem: A bênção do SENHOR esteja sobre vós; nós vos abençoamos em nome do SENHOR.
