1 As Jesus was walking out of the Temple Courts, one of his disciples said to him: “Teacher, look what fine stones and buildings these are!”
1 E, saindo ele do templo, disse-lhe um dos seus discípulos: Mestre, olha que pedras e que edifícios!
2 “Do you see these great buildings?”asked Jesus. “Not a single stone will be left here on another, which will not be thrown down.”
2 E, respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Vês estes grandes edifícios? Não ficará pedra sobre pedra que não seja derribada.
3 When Jesus had sat down on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew questioned him privately:
3 E, assentando-se ele no monte das Oliveiras, defronte do templo, Pedro, e Tiago, e João, e André lhe perguntaram em particular:
4 “Tell us when this will be, and what will be the sign when all this is drawing to its close.”
4 Dize-nos quando serão essas coisas e que sinal haverá quando todas elas estiverem para se cumprir.
5 Then Jesus began: “See that no one leads you astray.
5 E Jesus, respondendo-lhes, começou a dizer: Olhai que ninguém vos engane,
6 Many will take my name, and come saying ‘I am He’, and will lead many astray.
6 porque muitos virão em meu nome, dizendo: Eu sou o
7 “And, when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; such things must occur; but the end is not yet.
7 E, quando ouvirdes de guerras e de rumores de guerras, não vos perturbeis, porque
8 For ‘nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom’; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This will be but the beginning of the birth-pangs.
8 Porque se levantará nação contra nação, e reino, contra reino, e haverá terremotos em diversos lugares, e haverá fomes. Isso será o princípio de dores.
9 “See to yourselves! They will betray you to courts of law; and you will be taken to Synagogues and beaten; and you will be brought up before governors and kings for my sake, so that you can bear witness before them.
9 Mas olhai por vós mesmos, porque vos entregarão aos concílios e às sinagogas; sereis açoitados e sereis apresentados ante governadores e reis, por amor de mim, para lhes servir de testemunho.
10 But the good news must first be proclaimed to every nation.
10 Mas importa que o evangelho seja primeiramente pregado entre todas as nações:
11 Whenever they betray you and hand you over for trial, do not be anxious beforehand as to what you will say, but say whatever is given you at the moment; for it will not be you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
11 Quando, pois, vos conduzirem para vos entregarem, não estejais solícitos de antemão pelo que haveis de dizer; mas o que vos for dado naquela hora, isso falai; porque não sois vós os que falais, mas o Espírito Santo.
12 Brother will betray brother to death, and the father his child; and children will turn against their parents, and cause them to be put to death;
12 E o irmão entregará à morte o irmão, e o pai, o filho; e levantar-se-ão os filhos contra os pais e os farão morrer.
13 and you will be hated by everyone because of me. Yet the person who endures to the end will be saved.
13 E sereis aborrecidos por todos por amor do meu nome; mas quem perseverar até ao fim, esse será salvo.
14 “As soon, however, as you see ‘the Foul Desecration’ standing where he ought not”(the reader must consider what this means) “then those of you who are in Judea must take refuge in the mountains;
14 Ora, quando vós virdes a abominação do assolamento, que foi predito, estar onde não deve estar (quem lê, que entenda), então, os que estiverem na Judeia, que fujam para os montes;
15 and a person on the house-top must not go down, or go in to get anything out of their house:
15 e o que estiver sobre o telhado, que não desça para casa, nem entre a tomar coisa alguma de sua casa;
16 nor must one who is on their farm turn back to get their cloak.
16 e o que estiver no campo, que não volte atrás, para tomar a sua veste.
17 And alas for pregnant women, and for those who are nursing infants in those days!
17 Mas ai das grávidas e das que criarem naqueles dias!
18 Pray, too, that this may not occur in winter.
18 Orai, pois, para que a vossa fuga não suceda no inverno,
19 For those days will be a time of distress, the like of which has not occurred from the beginning of God’s creation until now — and never will again.
19 porque, naqueles dias, haverá
20 And, had not the Lord put a limit to those days, not a single soul would escape; but, for the sake of God’s own chosen people, he did limit them.
20 E, se o Senhor não abreviasse aqueles dias, nenhuma carne se salvaria; mas, por causa dos escolhidos que escolheu, abreviou aqueles dias.
21 “And at that time if anyone should say to you ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ ‘Look, there he is!’, do not believe it;
21 E, então, se alguém vos disser: Eis aqui o Cristo, ou: Ei-lo ali, não acrediteis.
22 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and display signs and marvels, to lead astray, were it possible, even God’s people.
22 Porque se levantarão falsos cristos e falsos profetas e farão sinais e prodígios, para enganarem, se
23 But see that you are on your guard! I have told you all this beforehand.
23 Mas vós vede; eis que de antemão vos tenho dito tudo.
24 “In those days, after that time of distress, ‘the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light,
24 Ora, naqueles dias, depois daquela aflição, o sol se escurecerá, e a lua não dará a sua luz.
25 the stars will be falling from the heavens,’ and ‘the forces that are in the heavens will be convulsed.’
25 E as estrelas cairão do céu, e as forças que
26 Then will be seen the ‘Son of Man coming in clouds’ with great power and glory;
26 E, então, verão vir o Filho do Homem nas nuvens, com grande poder e glória.
27 and then he will send the angels, and gather his people from the four winds, from one end of the world to the other.
27 E ele enviará os seus anjos e ajuntará os seus escolhidos, desde os quatro ventos, da extremidade da terra até a extremidade do céu.
28 “Learn the lesson taught by the fig-tree. As soon as its branches are full of sap, and it is bursting into leaf, you know that summer is near.
28 Aprendei, pois, a parábola da figueira: quando já o seu ramo se torna tenro, e brotam folhas, bem sabeis que
29 And so may you, as soon as you see these things happening, know that he is at your doors.
29 Assim também vós, quando virdes sucederem essas
30 I tell you that even the present generation will not pass away, until all these things have taken place.
30 Na verdade vos digo que não passará esta geração sem que todas essas coisas aconteçam.
31 The heavens and the earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
31 Passará o céu e a terra, mas as minhas palavras não passarão.
32 “But about ‘that day,’ or ‘the hour,’ no one knows — not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son — but only the Father.
32 Mas, daquele Dia e hora, ninguém sabe, nem os anjos que
33 “See that you are on the watch; for you do not know when the time will be.
33 Olhai, vigiai e orai, porque não sabeis quando chegará o tempo.
34 It is like a man going on a journey, who leaves his home, puts his servants in charge — each having their special duty — and orders the porter to watch.
34 É como se um homem, partindo para fora da terra, deixasse a sua casa, e desse autoridade aos seus servos, e a cada um, a sua obra, e mandasse ao porteiro que vigiasse.
35 Therefore watch, for you cannot be sure when the Master of the house is coming — whether in the evening, at midnight, at daybreak, or in the morning —
35 Vigiai, pois, porque não sabeis quando virá o senhor da casa; se à tarde, se à meia-noite, se ao cantar do galo, se pela manhã,
36 otherwise he might come suddenly and find you asleep.
36 para que, vindo de improviso, não vos ache dormindo.
37 And what I say to you I say to all — Watch!”
