1 Why gloriest thou in mischief, thou man of violence? The goodness of God yet continueth daily.
1 Por que te glorias na maldade, ó homem poderoso? Pois a bondade de Deus dura para sempre.
2 Thy tongue deviseth mischief, Like a sharp razor, thou contriver of deceit!
2 A tua língua urde planos de destruição; é qual navalha afiada, ó praticadora de enganos!
3 Thou lovest evil more than good, And to lie more than to speak truth. [Pause.]
3 Amas o mal antes que o bem; preferes mentir a falar retamente.
4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue!
4 Amas todas as palavras devoradoras, ó língua fraudulenta!
5 Thee also shall God utterly destroy! o He shall seize thee, and tear thee from thy dwelling-place, And uproot thee from the land of the living. [Pause.]
5 Também Deus te destruirá para sempre; há de arrebatar-te e arrancar-te da tua tenda e te extirpará da terra dos viventes.
6 The righteous shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him.
6 Os justos hão de ver tudo isso, temerão e se rirão dele, dizendo:
7 "Behold the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And placed his strength in his wickedness!"
7 Eis o homem que não fazia de Deus a sua fortaleza; antes, confiava na abundância dos seus próprios bens e na sua perversidade se fortalecia.
8 But I shall be like a green olive-tree in the house of God; I will trust in the goodness of God for ever and ever.
8 Quanto a mim, porém, sou como a oliveira verdejante, na Casa de Deus; confio na misericórdia de Deus para todo o sempre.
9 I will praise thee for ever for what thou hast done; I will trust in thy name, because it is good, Before the eyes of thy godly ones!
9 Dar-te-ei graças para sempre, porque assim o fizeste; na presença dos teus fiéis, esperarei no teu nome, porque é bom.
